Sun Nong Dan in Rowland Heights is one of my go-to spots when I'm craving Korean food! I LOVE their Galbi Tang and Galbijjim. Both are so delicious, and the Galbijjim is perfect for sharing. The meat is incredibly tender, and I love that you can adjust the spice level to your liking. Definitely get the purple rice on the side too! And their sauce is SOOOO GOOD--I could honestly eat it with everything. The service is okay--not the worst, but definitely nothing that really stands out. I mainly come back for the food because it's that good! Definitely worth trying if you're in Rowland Heights and craving Korean comfort food.
Oh man, this place is incredible! I've always loved K-BBQ, but honestly, they serve the absolute best galbi tang I've ever had. The broth is so flavorful and comforting. We ordered a platter to share, and the portion size was huge. There were so many of us, but we still left completely stuffed and couldn't even finish all the meat. Plus, melted cheese on top of the beef? Absolutely insane. Can't wait to come back! Service great! And nice ambiance too.
Didn't have to wait for. Table on a weekday around 9pm and got seated right away. The galbi jim does take a while so order it first thing!! We also got the ox tail soup and a side of mandu. The dumplings were really good. The meat inside was seasoned nicely. The soup was a little bland but tasted healthy! We ordered a large serving of the galbi jim but prob could've gone by with a small. We had a party of four adults. We added cheese and the fire display was awesome. Portion was huge and it had a nice assortment of veggies, rice cake, slices of short rib and pieces of bone in rib too. Definitely worth trying and also 24hrs is so good for jet lag meals etc.
It was busy when we got here but we were seated quickly. The Ambiance was loud but not crazy. We ordered the Galbi Jjim and man it was amazing. we had jt with the extra rice cake and cheese on top. you get a fire show for free when they melt the cheese! it was enough food for 4 people. ill definitely come back and ill come back hungry!
This location never misses. Come after a long night, come drunk, come hungry. The warm lighting at this location is a nice reprieve compared to the hospital whites of their San Gabriel location. The food at Sun Nong Dan is consistent at every location though! Hot soup, tender meat, great options for everyone in your party. Service is nothing to write home about, but to be expected.
My husband and I came in to try the breakfast special. We got #4 Ox Knee Soup. We love it that you can add your own salt to taste. Everything was delicious. Service is fine. Plenty of tables to sit. I would come back to try other dishes.
It's so delicious that there's a wait even at 2 AM! I brought a non-Korean friend here, and he absolutely loved it. The servers are very friendly, and the restaurant is clean.
My boyfriend and I visited here on a hot day, but I've always loved sul lung tang and wanted to try the real deal. We got seated right away in the corner, and I enjoyed the fact that they gave hot tea and the spoons were easy to reach and seemed clean. We got the Chadol Sulung Tang & Yang Ji Sulung Tang, and I was pleasantly surprised that the portions were massive. The meat in the Yang Ji one was lean and chewy, but I loved the Chadol meat because it was a lot more tender and plentiful. The noodles are perfect texture, and it takes a lot more salt + green onions than you think to flavor the soup. It's super hot, hearty, but clean tasting. I definitely think this place has the best kimchi I've ever had at a Korean restaurant. I seriously kept eating and got a refill as well. I even had enough soup leftovers for basically a whole other portion! The only reason why it's not 5 stars is the service. I don't care too much about overly friendly service or constant check ins, but the server walked away in the middle of ordering initially, without even asking my boyfriend what he was going to order. He did not appear again after dropping off our food, even after we had finished our meals and had our leftovers packaged ourselves for 10 minutes sitting there. I knew that they were generally busy, but I saw them glance over at us a few times already. Nevertheless, still the best sul lung tang I've had and maybe will be back at 4 am.
One of the biggest draws is that they're open 24/7, which is surprisingly hard to find these days. I'll definitely be back to see what the late-night crowd is like. The service was attentive and friendly throughout the meal. We ordered the Mo Deum Soo Yook (assorted boiled pork), and it was excellent. The variety of cuts kept every bite interesting, and the portion was generous enough to comfortably feed four adults. It's the perfect dish to pair with a few bottles of soju. I found that adding a little salt and pepper really brought out the flavors, and the broth became richer and more satisfying as the meal went on. The quality, generous portions, and round-the-clock hours make this a spot that's easy to recommend. The 24/7 availability is a huge bonus, especially when you're craving comforting Korean food at odd hours.
Quality has gone down significantly. First they didnt bring all 3 sides, the chives were missing. When asked about it instead of being honest and saying they ran out, they gave some bs reason about it not being in season and said the owner decided to pull chives off the menu. Fyi chives are in season spring thru fall. Ordered yukgaejang and it was oily af. All the times ive been here its never been so oily before. Attached is only SOME of the fat i skimmed from my soup. And also the beef wasnt consistent, it was tough and apparently whoever prepared this decided to cut the tough, dry meat into strips. The previous time i came i ordered sulungtang and it was also greasy af. I pay the same price every time i come and i expect the food to be of same quality. This visit was disappointing.
I had lunch here with coworkers the other day and the experience was pretty good. We had a table of 8 and didn't need to wait to be seated. Surprising consisting it was the lunch rush. It was my first time here so I tried the Seok Uh Sulung Tang soup as it was recommended by one of my coworkers. They served it with a side of purple rice and quite a number of banchan side dishes. You do get served water in paper cups though. The soup was ok. If you like tonkotsu broth, it's similar; slightly different flavor profile, but close enough. I would recommend adding little scoops of the salt until it has the flavor you like. Also, add in the green onions as that's a nice addition to the broth. You will find glass noodles at the bottom of the bowl with cuts of beef tendon and brisket on top. It's a hearty soup but I think there are definitely better options on the menu. Would I recommend this place? Yes, as the soup was decent, service was good, and I noticed quite a few dishes that I would have ordered if it was dinner.

The online order website refreshed to Uber Eats and that was a little too confusing for me. Sorry I'm getting old. It was a nice drive to their Rowland location. Usually that plaza is packed. In the early morning it's very quiet. They already had customers dining in and waiting for their orders outside. The server that helped us was very nice especially when I made a money blunder. Still embarrassed about that. Thankfully I had the full amount. Bad news....found out I've misplaced a big bill denomination. I'm hoping it's somewhere else in the house or car. They packaged it very well! I asked them to put it into separate bags to make the delivery easier. I didn't know they would provide side dishes for both orders. I was expecting just one since it was on the same bill. Everything was stable and nothing spilled. Even when one of the soy sauce side dishes went sideways during transit! Very minimal clean up (few droplets). Those Togo containers they use are transit friendly. The #4 set was still warm by the time I got back. Thermometer clocked it in at 125 degrees. It also came with a little container of salt and young leek to change it to your liking. Glass noodle portion went to the little youngster. Wished it was portioned a little bigger but for $13.99 + tax this was a great deal. The flavor was muted. Until we added more salt and young leek to taste. Very happy with the order and would like to return for another weekend breakfast. Bonus points for aligning the tab on the lid with the tab of the container. The SG location faced them in opposite directions and that was a total pain to safely open. I didn't want to bother my boss after the delivery so no idea if the #12 was any good. Opportunity for round #2? Included banchan of soy marinated onions and chili, kimchi, and Korean radish. Small containers to enhance flavor of soup: young leek, kosher salt (?), and black pepper. I originally thought it was spring onions but the other diners were adamant it did not have the correct texture or aroma of spring onions. So....it's either one of the two.

We've been here so many times and its always been our favorite restaurant to gather. The meat is so bomb and so cheesy. Our kids love it too. We will definitely come back whenever we crave for beef. read more

Never disappoint !! Always consistent with flavor any day of the week YH is the best server !! Made the experience that much enjoyable. The Koh Galbi Jjim with cheese is the kind of dish that makes you understand why people keep coming back. Absolute from start to finish. We got the combo loaded with oxtail, bone-in short ribs, and LA short ribs and every cut brought something different to the table. The meat was ridiculously tender, rich, and packed with flavor, while the melted cheese takes everything completely over the top. Nothing felt skimpy, and the portions were seriously generous. 10/10 flavor, 10/10 portion, 10/10 comfort food. If you're ordering one thing, make it the galbi jjim with cheese. This is not a "maybe next time" dish this is the reason you come back. read more

This is easily one of my favorite spots whenever I'm craving galbitang! It's honestly one of the best galbitang I've ever had. The broth is so warm and comforting, and they give you a generous amount of meat, so I definitely think it's worth the price. I also love the glass noodles that come with it--they make the whole dish even more satisfying. Another huge plus is that the service is always fast and they're open 24/7, which makes this such a convenient spot whenever I'm craving something comforting, especially late at night. Whenever I come here with a group of friends, we'll occasionally order the galbijjim to share. The portion is HUGE, so it's definitely more of a group dish for us rather than something I'd order every time. I've come back multiple times, and the galbitang is still my favorite. It's comforting, filling, and consistently good. Definitely one of my go-to spots! read more

Been wanting to come back since theres no galbijjim places near us in sac. Came around 6:30 on monday, was busy but once our whole party was here we got seated. Ordered the same thing, 2 large galbijjim (115$) both mild level. Mild level was not spicy imo, the squid side dish was spicier than mild lol, still good flavoring. Service was honestly not that great, they are quite busy but when we needed things we needed to wave them down every time and they never check on us without us waving them down. read more
Sun Nong Dan is a great place for your late night cravings or hang over meal. Open 24 hours so always available. I've been to their other locations and they're all consistent in their service and quality of food. A good amount of seating, but I have been here when there's a wait. Late night eating is usually not a problem. Get their broths or stews, can't go wrong with either. Our usual is the #3 soup and the Galbi Jjim. You can get the Galbi Jjim with cheese - which is quite a show. I prefer it without. The medium size is good enough for 4 people. You can choose spice level and we get medium - it has good flavor and spice, but not too spicy where you can't enjoy. Sun Nong Dan is a solid place and worth adding to your list of places to eat. read more
We tried the their specialty, Galbi Jim (without the cheese) at mild level. The dish is shared between 6 of us and it comes with 3 bowls of rice (we chose the brown rice). We added mandu as our appetizer. The Galbi Jim was delicious, the marinated prime ribs were very tender, cooked with potatoes, green onions, carrots, onions, and rice cake sticks. Our server was pleasant and quick. Definitely will come back next time we're in LA! read more
I've been going to Sun Nong Dan for years. Although I've been to all of their locations, I almost always frequent this one due to proximity. As far as Korean soups go, this place is great. I enjoy the side dishes, and I actually enjoy the fact that I get just a few but they're all good. The radish is my favorite! This spot is generally no frills, efficient service, and not too crazy of a wait. Service is generally quick and attentive, but they're straight to the point and aren't looking to idly chat. I'm a fan of that, personally, so it works well for me. For a solo eat, or a large group, this is a solid spot. The flavors are there and the fact that it's 24/7 is extremely convenient. read more

Sun Nong Dan is definitely not overhyped. There's a reason why this place is always packed and why the wait can easily hit an hour or more. If you're planning for dinner, best advice is to get there before 6 PM. Otherwise, don't be surprised if you end up eating after 7 because they don't take reservations, only a waiting list. Their famous Galbi Jjim (braised beef short rib) is an absolute must-order. Tender, flavorful, rich, and worth every bit of the hype. My family also ordered the assorted cuts of beef plate, and that was amazingly good too. Everything came out hot, hearty, and satisfying. Overall, we all left full, happy, and already talking about coming back again. Definitely worth the wait. read more

Came for dinner with my friends and I. It took a while for someone to acknowledge us and take our order but it was a Friday night so it was pretty busy. This is my first time trying sun bong dan despite all the hype around it I did not enjoy it . I've had other galbi jjims at other Korean restaurants in ktown and OC and they were so much better. I will say that their rice cakes were really good and chewy but why does it cost so much just to add cheese on top. In addition the galbi jjim was not tender at all. I think it wasn't ready to be served and needed to be braised longer since it was a jaw work out trying to chew through the tendon. For the premium price I was expecting high quality beef but it also seems that they use less premium beef ribs. Instead of sun nong Dan I would check out other Korean restaurants that definitely have better galbi Jjim. I do appreciate that they're open 24/7. read more

First time here, it was so good! My new favorite spot for Chadol Sulung Tang! Loved all the side dishes and soup. I'll definitely be back, although I drove 40 min to come here, it was worth it. Parking is a bish tho!! This plaza is super busy so definitely not easy to find parking... if you get tired of circling, park across the street at Ranch99. read more
I came really late during the night and I ordered number 7 Galbi Tang and the broth was so flavorful and the meat was so tender! There are a good amount of seats inside and it looks very clean. We got sat right away and and even though it was 2am, the place still had a good amount of people! If you're ever in the mood for some soup you gotta try this place out! I will definitely come back for their Koh Galbi Jim with cheese! read more

Our kids decided for this place for dinner while in So Cal. I would say it was delicious, the presentation of the food was beautiful. There was 6 of us and we ordered the XL (pictured) and I also wanted the Beef cheek soup as I didn't want rice. Between the 6 of us, we couldn't not finish it and for the price, it was reasonable. We went there around 7 on a Friday night and it was not busy, we got a table right away. It does get loud but we are still able to hear each other. I would come back again and totally recommend this place. read more

Most of the soups based are made with either pork or beef stock. I hardly ever hear about fish stocks

Pets such as puppies are not allowed to be eaten here in California. There are certain restaurants in Korea that specializes in dog, but is often looked down upon .

Yes. But you have to make reservation first. They just let you in when all your ppl be there. Each table have one or two portable fan for the heat outside ( depends on how big the table is)
Does the gukbap not come with rice? I ordered over tbe phone and picked it up yesterday, but when I got home, there wasn't any rice. I couldn't go back to pick it up because I live far, but just want to make sure it rice comes with the soups or not?
Yes rice should of came with any soup or dishes. Two type white rice or grain rice (wild/red grain). Maybe they forgot to put in by mistake. You should inform them
Can customers BYOB and if yes is it free?
They do not offer byob. The only way to enjoy is to simply order to go and then you can drink
