The Menu as of 5/9/26. #20 and #24 is a MUST!!!

Sun Nong Dan is definitely not overhyped. There's a reason why this place is always packed and why the wait can easily hit an hour or more. If you're planning for dinner, best advice is to get there before 6 PM. Otherwise, don't be surprised if you end up eating after 7 because they don't take reservations, only a waiting list. Their famous Galbi Jjim (braised beef short rib) is an absolute must-order. Tender, flavorful, rich, and worth every bit of the hype. My family also ordered the assorted cuts of beef plate, and that was amazingly good too. Everything came out hot, hearty, and satisfying. Overall, we all left full, happy, and already talking about coming back again. Definitely worth the wait.

Cheese over beef is a must try! It was so yummy that we bagged it to go and shared with family at home! The service was a little draw back though. The waitresses were not attentive. Our beer was forgotten until asked again.

Came for dinner with my friends and I. It took a while for someone to acknowledge us and take our order but it was a Friday night so it was pretty busy. This is my first time trying sun bong dan despite all the hype around it I did not enjoy it . I've had other galbi jjims at other Korean restaurants in ktown and OC and they were so much better. I will say that their rice cakes were really good and chewy but why does it cost so much just to add cheese on top. In addition the galbi jjim was not tender at all. I think it wasn't ready to be served and needed to be braised longer since it was a jaw work out trying to chew through the tendon. For the premium price I was expecting high quality beef but it also seems that they use less premium beef ribs. Instead of sun nong Dan I would check out other Korean restaurants that definitely have better galbi Jjim. I do appreciate that they're open 24/7.

Our kids decided for this place for dinner while in So Cal. I would say it was delicious, the presentation of the food was beautiful. There was 6 of us and we ordered the XL (pictured) and I also wanted the Beef cheek soup as I didn't want rice. Between the 6 of us, we couldn't not finish it and for the price, it was reasonable. We went there around 7 on a Friday night and it was not busy, we got a table right away. It does get loud but we are still able to hear each other. I would come back again and totally recommend this place.

They ended up giving me a credit for the next time I come for the bad portion size. I do think takeout is still worse since it usually comes with two small bone in short ribs. Whereas, every time I go in person there's at least 2 big ones or 3 smaller ones in the soup.

If you're looking for hearty korean beef stews, this is your place. There are both spicy and non-spicy options, but be careful if you can't handle your spice if you get the spicier options (it's indicated on the menu!). Each soup comes piping hot and one soup is more than enough for one person (highly recommend sharing between two people if you don't eat too much). The place is always bustling but the workers are always very attentive to each table; I've gone a few times and I haven't had any problems with getting my food quickly or extra help as needed. I will say that all their food options have beef, so those who cannot have it should probably avoid the spot. Overall, a busy yet lively spot to grab dinner late night with friends--especially if you also want to drink alcohol with friends as well (korean alcohols available).

So filling... so delicious. It's pretty expensive but it's worth the money! There were only two of us and we had a ton of leftovers.

No wait on a saturday for lunch. service was prompt! We ordered #10 Won Gi Tang short rib/ox tail soup and Yuk Gae Jang spicy beef and leek soup- both came out shortly after the ban chan. The soups are good but nothing special outside of all the other korean soup spots. would skip entirely next time! The star of the show however, was amazing. We were stuffed but couldnt stop eating the galbi jjim, and the flaming torch was a fun presentation! The large was for 4-5 people but we couldn't finish, so the 115$ + cheese and tteokbokki (added another 15$) was well worth the price. The meat was good quality, all tender, and so juicy. Potatoes melt into the sauce and were so addictive- tteokbokki had a nice al dente chew. Overall under 200$ for 5 people and its an LA staple spot- come for the galbi, skip the soups

(10 stars -- five stars was never enough) Sun Nong Dan 18902 Gale Ave, Rowland Heights, CA 91748 Sun Nong Dan is not a restaurant. It's a public service. 3am before an interstate road trip and everyone is feral? Solved. 4am kimchee craving that refuses to negotiate? Resolved. Kids hungry, adults tired, morale low? National emergency averted. The #9 beef bowl deserves its own fan club. Deep, rich, soul-hugging flavor that silences a table instantly -- no phones, no talking, just respectful chewing and eye contact with destiny. You physically cannot order wrong here. The menu protects you. If you're hungry, tired, road-tripping, parenting, or questioning your life choices at an ungodly hour -- don't walk. Sprint like the bowl is about to sell out. Highly recommended. Repeatedly. Without shame. Follow me for more reviews. Jordan

I'm a sucker for soup and for spots open 24/7, so Sun Nong Dan is my go-to spot for Korean soup when it's early in the morning and no other restaurants are really open. If you go around 8-9 am as I usually do, you shouldn't have to wait too long for a table. It definitely gets busy in the evening for dinner time, so that's something to consider. The staff is very nice, the restaurant itself is clean, and there is plenty of seating. Every time I'm here I order the #1 yang ji sulung tang. Such a comforting, clean broth. I don't add too much of the salt/pepper seasoning, but I usually pile on the green onion. The meat they use is nice and tender. And I also really enjoy the refreshing banchan they offer, especially the kimchi and the scallions. Side note: you know the soup is made well and is collagen-rich when your refrigerated leftovers are nice and solid. Sun Nong Dan is my ol' reliable when wanting a warm, quick, conforting meal that I can still enjoy later cos I always end up with leftovers!

I recently visited Sun Nong Dan and had a great experience. I ordered the Galbi Tang, and the short rib was amazing. It was incredibly moist, tender, and full of flavor, making the dish both comforting and satisfying. The service was fast and efficient, and the wait was not long even on a busy night. Parking on a Friday can be a bit challenging due to the limited spots and nearby businesses, so I'd recommend parking across the street by 99 Ranch to save some time. Overall, it's a solid spot for Korean comfort food, and I would definitely come back again.

My friend and I came here on New Year's Eve around 11:30 AM - because this restaurant is open 24/7, and they're open on the holidays we were expecting to wait a long time before being seated. However, this restaurant and their servers are very efficient and were seated within 10 minutes. The soup at the restaurant is definitely the highlight of the menu. I got the number 12 (Tta Roh Guk Bao - brisket and cabbage soup) & my friend ordered the number 13 (yuk gae jang - spicy beef and leek). Both were amazing and come with their delicious banchans. These piping hot soup orders really hit the spot on a raining day! Lastly, I MUST mention our fantastic server Alvin. Even though the restaurant was packed and busy on a holiday, he still went above and beyond to ensure that we were tended to. I really appreciate servers like him!

    Yes we do.

Did you guys change management or ownership? Looks like my last question was removed for some reason. Thanks

IT WAS CLOSED ON EASTER. NOT SURE IF IT WAS CLOSED ONLY FOR THE HOLIDAY BUT IT WAS QUITE DARK INSIDE

Are all of the foods family style?

    Yes 🙌

How many people does the Large Galbi Jim feed?

We got this and it fed 4-5 people.

Not since covid. But I believe they open at 6am in the morning now.

    Is this restaurant still open?

    Yes they are still open.

Is a small puppy allowed at this restaurant?

Pets such as puppies are not allowed to be eaten here in California. There are certain restaurants in Korea that specializes in dog, but is often looked down upon .

Are there any vegeyarian or vegan options?

    Not likely.

Do they answer calls? It's 8pm on a Monday trying to place a hefty order but no answer ):

Yes rice should of came with any soup or dishes. Two type white rice or grain rice (wild/red grain). Maybe they forgot to put in by mistake. You should inform them

They do not offer byob. The only way to enjoy is to simply order to go and then you can drink

    Do they deliver?

    Yes, they do deliver.

    Is it spicy?

You can order form mild to hot!

We decided to split both dishes, and the portions ended up being pretty large for the price. We were full and still managed to have leftovers to take home afterward. Overall, the food was filling, seasoned well, and well portioned without being overly expensive. The only downside was that our waters were never refilled during the meal, although it honestly looked like there was only one server working at the time. Great place to get some hearty stew on a cold day, during lunch or dinner. Super generous portions and definitely enough to take home for later as well. Restaurant is quite spacious and with lots of booth seating, but I can only imagine how busy it could potentially get. There's plenty of parking in the plaza since the 2 main stores/market chains are now closed. For our visit we got a medium gamja jeon-gol, which is their spicy pork bone soup with potatoes. There's a slight heat to it, but not super spicy as I was with some Cantonese people who can't handle spiciness, so they had it at mild. Still a rich umami taste with flavor to it. Pork is moist and plentiful and so are the potatoes. There's also lots of greens and I think, leeks in the stew. Lots of banchan to snack on too and all of us got a small bowl of purple rice as well (my favorite!) About 1/3 of the way through, we packaged most of the stew to go and we had our complimentary fried rice which is made inside the same pot as the stew, absorbing the delicious stew flavor. There's nori seaweed strips and sesame seeds added in for taste and flavor too. Good stuff. I'm, unfortunately, not a fan of picking meat off the bone so this was kinda hard when the soup was still boiling hot, but other than that, delicious.
