I looked up Sun Devil Auto based off of recommendations from family when asked where they take their cars for maintenece. They take their cars to the Tempe location but I live much farther east between two other Sun Devil Auto locations and chose this one because it had the higher rating on yelp than the other location. My first experience with this business was when I needed to get my oil changed. I came in and was told there was about an hour wait until they could get to my car. Although they offer a shuttle service, I chose to sit and read in the small waiting area in the lobby, which consisted of about 4 chairs, a few magazines and a coffee station. While waiting, I overheard several phone calls and interactions with customers. During one phone call, the front desk worker was letting someone know that their air filters did not need to be changed, even though that was one of the concerns the customer had upon bringing their car to the shop. I often heard them tell customers that many services they were inquiring about weren't necessary at that time, and gave them an estimate to when that time would be. proving that this place is honest and trustworthy. They could have made a quick buck by completing a service that wasn't necessary, but they didn't. I had found a coupon on line for an oil change but my car uses a special type of oil which didn't qualify for the deal. Instead the front desk worker gave me a $5 discount. My oil change was very reasonably priced at about $30. A little while after this, my check engine light came on. I can back to the shop and after an hour and a half wait, they informed me that my turbo charger was the problem. He let me know that it took so long because he was trying to get through to Chevy to see if that was still under warranty since my car had less than 60k miles. Although he wasn't able to get through (it was Monday), I really appreciated the effort. They recommended I go to the dealership because it should be under warranty, which it was! The dealership said fixing my problem was a big job aka it would have cost me a LOT of money. Again, instead of fixing the problem themselves, they looked out for my best interest, and referred me to a different place where I saved a bunch of money due to the warranty. This is a wonderful, honest and caring business. I would recommend it to anyone with no hesitation. As a woman in my mid 20s who doesn't know anything about cars, I trust Sun Devil Auto 100%. read more

Disapointed.... I have been coming here for years and had great service. Arrived to pick up my truck and the battery was dead. They left the ignition on. They agreed to charge it and deliver the vehicle. Later I got a call and was told that the battery would not hold a charge (essentially - they were not at fault). I said I would get a new battery and just deliver the vehicle. I charged the battery myself and and the battery has started the vehicle every day for the last 6 months. Very suspicious, looking like they were trying to cover their negligence and shift the blame. read more

I've taken my Honda, CVR and had excellent service and trusted what they did and the parts that they replaced. They showed me what they taken out of my car and actually showed what they had replaced in my car which a lot of places don't do. Took my QX 60 in due to the air conditioning not cooling and need a new part. They looked and found an affordable part and got it in that day worked on it that day and was in my possession by that afternoon now that service I highly recommend Sundevil, very friendly, reliable and honest read more

I was in a very humbling place when I called Sun Devil Auto. I had been grinding my poor brakes for months too long! I just knew it would be a massive repair. When I called, Mike got me in right away, even though they were closing in the next hour. To my amazement, they got the brake parts and rotors shipped over within ten minutes, by which time the car was already hoisted, disassembled, and prepped. Chris rocked the repair, and the other front counter gents were so kind to explain everything in great detail. They told me which things were necessary, and which items were safe to hold off on. I can't tell you how much I needed that type of honesty at that exact moment. You guys are all great at what you do. I will recommend this place to all of my friends! Thank you! I showed up in a frantic to get my AC fixed because I tote around a little girl. These men jumped up and did everything possible to ensure they could do what they could to get it back and running. I felt extremely cared about and that my urgency was important to them. They even offer shuttle rides to and from your home or work and Dan, the driver was an amazing experience. I loved hearing about his life and sharing about mine. I didn't feel like just another customer with a car issue but like they genuinely cared about helping me. I have already recommended them to people and will continue to do so! And I plan to bring these guys pizza to the shop next week to say thank you! Got my blower motor replaced with them in March then it went out last week. I went back in was able to use the warranty on it. The first two parts they put in didn't work which was a bit frustrating but they kept on working on it and finally got it fixed with the third part. They did all of this for free using the warranty from the first repair so I appreciate that they honored it and it is now fixed! Essentially, your comment or response is a repeat of my message with the proper lingo, The issue is not miles or years of my vehicles I am not saying they are new and 100% perfect, your diagnosis were not true, they were false, and inaccurate, and just a scam for money because of the heat. Because my ac in both vehicles were fixed outside of what you said needed to be done. Feel free to explain that to your customer in your response. On a recent trip to the lake our truck broke down on the way home while pulling our boat. Called and talked with Mike and he was able to get a tow truck to me within 2 hours. Sun Devil was able to diagnose the problem and get my truck back to me in a timely manner. The people were friendly and kept me updated throughout my visit. My husband and I have been coming here for years and we are always pleased with their service. In fact we had tried getting our truck's ac serviced somewhere else on the recommendation of a friend, we gave that shop three tries to make it right without luck. On Wednesday, April 14, 2021, I called this location and made a 7 am appointment for an oil change and brake check. On Thursday, April 15, 2021, at exactly 7am, I walked into this location and was greeted by Mike Kline. He asked for my name and phone number. After taking a while to locate me in his system, he asked if I was seeking to service my 2015 Rav4. I said yes and released a sigh of relief as I thought my appointment had not been properly entered into their system. He then told that they had recently upgraded their system and so a lot of information was not transferred over. He moreover noted that my appointment entry had somehow been corrupted and that he would have to input my appointment into their system to which I responded okay. He then for the first time informed me that their mechanic would not arrive until 8am and would let me know the status of my vehicle shortly thereafter. I specifically informed him that I had several appointments later on in the afternoon and he confirmed that I would have my vehicle back by lunch time. He did not offer me their shuttle service and so I took the 45min walk back home. Please note: its only a 5 minute drive away. Fast forward to 10am and no one from Sun Devil Auto has reached and informed me of the status of my vehicle. So I decided to call and ask for an update. The first gentlemen who answered the phone said he had no idea what was gong on with my vehicle and thereafter put Mike on the phone. Mike then informed me that his technician was driving my vehicle as we were speaking and was trying to ascertain the issue with my pulsating brakes. He said I will call you back in 15 minutes. Fast forward to 11:15am and I have still not received a call back so I called back again. This time Mike informs me that my brakes look fairly new and explained what they believe the issue is. He told me I should call the location where I received my brakes as it was still likely covered by warranty. I told him thank you for that information. He then started speaking at quick, rushed pace informing me of other repairs that he believed my vehicle would need. After attempting to get him to slow down twice, I asked if he could email me the recommendations, he said no and informed me that he could only fax the document to me. I told him to do the oil change and that I would let him know if I wanted anything else done. I want to stop and note that during this conversation Mike made several inappropriate inquiries which included asking me if my 2015 Rav4 with 112K miles on it was a recently purchased vehicle because it overall was in great condition. I responded no. He then asked oh, did you purchase it when it was brand new? I said, yes. He then asked why do you still have it? Most people get rid of their vehicles by now? I informed him that I had paid off my vehicle and did not want to pay AZ's high registration fees on new vehicles. He responded oh! I found this to be not only intrusive but presumptive on his part. On one hand, he assumed that I could only afford a used vehicle and the other attempted to tell me what I should do with my finances. After calling and informing Mike, that I would not have time for any other repairs that day, I asked if he could send the shuttle to pick me up so that I could retrieve my vehicle. During the 5 hours that I waited for my vehicle, a friend informed me that they had a shuttle service that they should have offered me. Well Mike then decided to chastise me on the phone bc apparently there is a price point that you have to meet in order to be allowed access to their shuttle service. Please note: I fully intended to make the 45 min walk back to pick my vehicle but I was now running late for my next appointment. When I arrived, I asked who the manager was as I wanted to file a complaint. Mike informed me that he was the store manager and I was utterly shocked. When I asked for the information for the headquarters location, he said I'l that information on your receipt and collected my payment for the oil change. When I asked why he had treated me poorly given it had taken over 5 hours for them to actually complete the oil change. He attempted to allege that I had not had an appointment for the day. While this is an absolute lie, I want to accept his version of facts for this review. Had I been a walk-in and informed the store manager that I had an appointment that day, would it have been appropriate for him to ignore servicing my vehicle rendering me late for another appointment with cancellation fees? Would it have been appropriate for him to treat me differently? I think the answer to both questions are no. Nevertheless, I will never return to this location as it is apparent that my business is not wanted there. I am not sure if it has anything to do with my gender or any of my physical attributes but I was not treated with respect and dignity. Please note: a complaint was sent to Bob, the regional director and he has yet to respond. read more

Women! stop here. You've found a place that wont try to pull the wool over your eyes. You know how many of the fast talking auto repair guys try to upsell us by scaring us into buying things we don't understand? First time I went here was for an oil change a month ago. They were swamped with business but still delivered my vehicle on time as promised. They didn't bother me with a trillion up sells. Just the nitty gritty. Today I dropped in for a brake service. Great service again. The place is tidy, smells clean, the desk folks are polite, relaxed and helpful. When they called to tell me what was up with my brakes, they were frank - this part can wait if you want, but this part needs to be replaced now. Answered questions clearly and simply. They ran a few options by me, let me call my spouse, discuss things and call back on my time. No pushing. They offer a great payment option that required no credit check, no interest and gives me 45 to spread out payments so I didn't need to bust the budget. Excellent! I got to pick the dates for payment. Competent, polite and honest. Good warranty and a clean shuttle service. Stop here. Tell them Mabee sent you! read more

An electric window motor in the back seat of my car broke and I took my car here to get it repaired. They fixed it, and as I was leaving their property, the other rear window fell down! Before I even left the parking lot. They saw it happen, and offered to fix it for just the cost of the part -- no labor charge. I can't recommend this place highly enough and have told everyone about their great customer experience and service. read more

Took my car here for maintenance oil change. Did a good job at changing the oil, fluid check and rotating the tires, but I disgusted with how they treated the interior by left my car with oil on the carpet and on the door. Cost me $80 to get the carpet cleaned. They use to be a very reputable place to take your car, but the quality of how they care for my vehicle really made me pause and not return, find another place to take my vehicle. Wasn't pleased that the cleanup almost cost me more then the oil change. That they never though anything about how they were leaving the condition of my car. Like the others have stated unless you want to leave your car all day for an oil change or wait hours, don't bring your car here. They are looking for the bigger bucks. read more

I posted here a few months ago that I was impressed with the service at this location. I'm here again. I needed my brakes done.. I knew that. I took my Jeep Compass to two Brake Masters and a full service Jiffy Lube. Each place did a brake inspection and quoted me $650-$850 for Front and rear brakes. Since I had a good experience here before I brought it in. They did they inspection and told me that my rear brakes needed replacing but my fronts were fine for now. And here's the best part, after their inspection, it's the first garage that didn't find 10 different things wrong with my car that didn't need to be fixed! Took my 10 year old high mileage car in there knowing with about 95% confidence what was wrong with it (power steering pump replacement). They came up with the same diagnosis within about 20 minutes and found, ordered, and received a new pump quickly enough to have the car ready to go within about 5 hours (from the time first pulled in the lot). This was my first experience with Sun Devil Auto and I'm pretty pleased with it. They put a 12 month warranty on the new pump & labor too. It would've been nicer if I hadn't needed to go see them at all, but I guess as repair shops go, this seems to be one of the better ones. read more

After leaving Sun Devil angry, I receive a call from Mike (he is either the manager or general manager of the location) apologizing for the misunderstanding regarding my coupon. He admitted he should have asked more questions regarding the coupon I received and that he did not look up the full history of my vehicles until after I left. He offered to provide the oil change and maintenance check for free and at my earliest convenience. Still a bit angry, I refrained from accepting at that moment. Mike said to call him if I decided to accept and he would fit me in the schedule. After thinking about it a couple days and reflecting on my own past retail/C2B experience, I decided that the one thing I always wanted was a chance to correct my mistake, so I called to schedule the oil change. Upon driving up and walking in, I was welcomed by name and my vehicle was taken back immediately, services was complete and came with a list of recommended fixes. Overall, this latter experience is one that I had come to expect from a Sun Devil Auto shop and is the reason that there are always a line of cars waiting to be serviced by the shop. While my history is still a little suspect, we are moving the right direction and I will most like return to this shop in the future because Customer Service Matters and Mike delivered on that. read more

With 4 vehicles in our family, we have had a long relationship with SD. Overall, Mike and his team have always taken excellent care of us and the cars. We have never had any breakdowns on the road since in their care. I would recommend to family and friends. From time to time, they have even gone above and beyond normal service by investigating a few mysterious issues with our vehicles, even doing so without charging us for their time. I would give them 5 stars, but they have made a few mistakes along the way, including one serious, neglectful error, that could have caused devastating damage to my work van had I not noticed the loose lug nuts on my rear wheel upon getting it home. We worked through the issue after Mike had a very sincere conversation with my wife. My suggestion for their team is tighten up on the details, like topping off fluids, filling tires and, especially, tightening lug nuts. Otherwise, they are my goto road crew. read more

I had my much-needed brake pads replaced at Sun Devil, they were fast courteous and friendly as always. Unfortunately after the service, my car developed a shimmy and pull to right. Sun Devil got in and resolved the issue and was able to work around my schedule. This is the 4th car that we have brought to Mike; he and his staff are always there to help and even work with us to keep the cars running and in top shape. My husband and I have been coming to this Sun Devil Auto location for quite some time now, and we love it. We always tell our friends and family to get their car needs done at Sun Devil because of how great the staff is. They always do a wonderful job at explaining things out to me or asking if I want to get something done or wait on it and they are super patient. It is always a decent and fair price with Sun Devil, and if anything comes up with your car they are more than happy to help figure it out and won't charge you up the butt unlike other places. They have always been so good to us as getting our cars done right away. Sun Devil will always be our go to place! And! I have taken my vehicle for the past five years to Get my oil changed. Couple of months ago they changed the oil in my car. On my way home I began to notice that my engine was smoking. I called and they immediately had a tow truck come and pick up my car and they were kind enough to give me a rental. What I did not like was the next day the manager called me basically yelling at me and telling me that it wasn't his techs fault that the oil had spilled all over my engine, but they had a talk with him so he wouldn't do it again. He was also upset that I was given a rental vehicle too. I did not appreciate the way the manager handled the situation. What his tech did put me in a bad situation. However the person I spoke with the day of, he was very sweet and extremely helpful. That was my last time going there and I'll never go back. I don't appreciate being yelled at, especially when I didn't do anything wrong. read more
