While in St. Louis for a weeklong trip, I get an urgent call from my pet sitter. The garage door won't close completely. I would have liked nothing more than to have given a good review, but after Sun City Garage Door did not show up for 2 prescheduled appointments, lied to me telling me on the phone that the owners name was "Joey" and I see it's really Chuck Mayberry, lied to me again and told me that company manager was a guy by the name of Mike, hung up on me twice, did not return any of my phone calls, and kept me on hold yesterday for 45 minutes while "Mike" was on another call. Are you kidding me!!! Don't believe the rebuttal for one minute, because this company couldn't care less about customer satisfaction. They are in the service business, and the only service they deliver is hanging up on their customers when asked politely to speak with the manager of the business NO bad, or inappropriate words or language were exchanged during any phone calls. read more

Third time (2011 and 2013) we've used Sun Cities and can't say enough about how friendly and professional their service technicians are. On Saturday I stupidly put a large Shepard's Hook in the opening even though I knew I'd forget about it and close the door. Well, I was right and it bent the upper rail on one side and the lower rail on the other in addition to the pulley wires coming off the each pulley. I managed to get the door almost closed, but it was hard with the wires off the pulleys and some wheels had come out of their sockets. Anyway, John showed up right on schedule Monday morning and 45 minutes later all was repaired for the cost of $65 service call. He even serviced the springs and checked the gears in the opener. As he was leaving he said he was glad I was his first call because I was such a nice guy and it started his day/week off on a good note. That was unnecessary, but nice to hear. Their sticker is on our door and we'll use them any time we need something done. I highly recommend them. read more

Unbelievable service! Last year I had another company to come out and service my garage door opener. The technician said that the entire unit, springs, cables, etc. were shot and all needed replacement. His quote was approximately $2,500! Needless to say, I did not have the work done. Last night the opener failed when the chain sprocket broke mid-closure. I called Sun Cities Garage Door last night and they had a repair man out this morning. After viewing the mess he said that it would cost $129.95 to replace the sprocket, tighten the springs and get everything operating again! Wow, quite a difference from the first quote of $2,500! Chuck defines fairness and customer service in his field! I had a bad experience with a "competitor" and I called Chuck to check the pricing to repair my broken door. After a brief conversation it was clear I was getting ripped off. I sent the other guys packing and called Chuck back. The other guys left the part and pieces is disarray on the garage floor and I couldn't open the door to return my cars to the garage. It was Friday afternoon and Chuck had already told me he couldn't finish the repair until Monday so the call as to confirm a Monday time to complete the repair. Chuck dropped what he was doing and was at my house within a half hour. Have them one because I can't give them half . I move here 3 years ago when I move the garage motor had a sticker from this company so I know they service the garage door in the past . Well a representative came ( I have his name just in case you want it) he told me my garage door needed new springs I said ok, I have 2 garage doors so I only change the big door springs because I never use the small one . He unhook the door and tie everything so if I press the garage door opener will not work. He then proceeded to change the springs and wheels ( around the door ) ext. T he bill was around 410 I also had two remotes . Well this weekend almost the 3 years mark, the same guy came to check my door ; he told me the spring needed to be change , I asked him "how long they last, you change it last time" . He told me they last 10 years but he never change them, I told him yes you did Almost 3 years ago , I found the receipt and show him he insisted the spring were not his company. Then he started to scream at me, I was very surprised I thought I was in a show. I told him that he needed to stop he then call his company and told them that I said if he do not fix the spring for free I'm not paying the service call , I told him I never said that but he was correct I will not pay anything and I want him out of my property , he didn't stop screaming , I have to tell him get out and I close the garage on him . Do not use this company if you want to save yourself time, stress and money. Garage door failed and initially the technician Josh who was excellent to work with said the springs needed to be replaced for 500 dollars. He was courteous and explained the problem. Thought it was fixed. A little over 4 weeks later the garage door is having problems again. Call the company they schedule a technician to come out and review the warrantied job. They cancel soon after stating he was tied up in a job. Reschedule for the next day. Call back to get eta on time stated they were cancelling due to technician sick. No call to inform me. Spoke with Edgar office manager who was apologetic and stated it would be 5 days later now to get the door looked at. Today the technician arrives to the home Charlie who stated he is the manager in the field and was rude and stated he could not read the future and the entire motor needs to be replaced for over 1000 dollars worth of work. He was interrupting me and belittling me when I was questioning the work that was done 4 weeks ago. I asked to speak to his manager and he said he was the manager which I did not believe as he was rude. I called back to ask the office staff if he was the manager and was told no. He manager is Ed Michael's. Do not trust this company to do work on your home.He then stated he was starting the job without consent or approval from me. After finding myself in a mess, locked in my garage with a broken spring, I started making phone calls for repair quotes and appointments. I soon found out that their are a LOT of adds out there, where you think you are calling someone local, and end up on a series of operators that are not local. I also had a lot of calls where they could not give me an estimate, but would come to my home and look into weighing my door, reviewing the repair, etc. I was told by others to print out all of their coupons on the web pages so they could figure out a price that would work. After this frustrating mess I made the call to Sun Cities Garage Door. I let him know the door size, and that I had one spring visibly broken. I was immediately given a price, all inclusive and that they could be at my home in 2-3 hours. Awesome. No run around, no games!!! Hands down the best service I've ever received. I called at 10:40 am to ask about getting a broken garage door spring replaced. I was told someone could be out between 11:00 and 12:00! I was also told exactly what it would cost. They arrived about 11:30 and were done within an hour. They also noticed two badly worn and frayed cables which they replaced.
