We visited Sumo Omakase because the restaurant looked clean, and the interior gave a nice omakase atmosphere when we first sat down. Unfortunately, the experience quickly went downhill. I noticed flies flying around the food preparation area and even landing on the food being prepared. The chef was extremely busy and didn't seem to notice, so I pointed it out because I was upset and honestly was ready to leave. What made it worse was that one of the chefs said, "Don't worry, it won't land on the food," but I had already seen it happen with my own eyes. That response was very disappointing. The food itself was not good either. The sushi rice was overly soft, like it had too much water, and several dishes were far too salty. On top of that, the head chef seemed more focused on talking to another customer in Japanese than paying attention to preparing the sushi. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience, and I won't be coming back. To make matters worse, when the bill came, the suggested tip options were 20%, 25%, and 30%, which was frustrating considering how poor the experience was.

We had an absolutely beautiful omakase experience at Sumo--one that felt thoughtful, refined, and memorable from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, the service was seamless. We were warmly welcomed, and throughout the evening, the team remained attentive without ever feeling intrusive. Plates were cleared promptly, allowing the experience to flow effortlessly. We chose to sit at the bar, which I highly recommend for the full experience. Watching the chefs in action is part of the magic--it's like dinner and a show in one. Our sushi chef guided us through each course, offering insight into every dish, which made the experience feel even more personal. We opted for the $79 Omakase menu, which was the perfect amount for us that evening. The $99 option is definitely on our list for next time--especially with an earlier seating to fully indulge. Every bite was exceptional--fresh, high-quality sushi with clean, vibrant flavors that truly stand out. We paired our meal with 2 bottles of Sauvignon Blanc, which complemented the courses beautifully. This is easily one of the most exciting new omakase spots we've tried. The quality, presentation, and service make it an incredible value. We'll absolutely be back--and already looking forward to our next visit.

Another omakase franchised by the sushi all you can eat and hot pot group nearby China town. It's a couple of stores down of the other omakase, Kaiseki Sanga. They have two tiers of menus: $79 and $99. According to the staff, $99 is much better quality, so our party of 4 all chose $99 tier. Being to a couple of omakase, my friends and I agreed this is not omakase. It's more like a Japanese assorted dishes that you don't select bring to your table. Barely any presentation or introduction of ingredients or cultures behind the dishes. Very noisy inside, mediocre service (considering they are still new, it takes long for the server to come by, and they messed up the dishes), and the food, we all think it's more like all you can eat quality, the sushi rice is not even as good as the ones from supermarket. You can even see the chef pre-made the nigiri. I would give a three star to be fair. Why 4 stars, because of the portions. If you want to eat Japanese food but don't want to experience the wait and crowds of AYCE, this omakase is definitely generous.

I heard about Sumo Omakase opening on instagram and put it on my list to try. My friend and I opted for the $79 Ozeki omakase course that comes with 7 nigiri. We don't have big appetites and the 11 piece nigiri plus additional 5 seemed like too much for us to handle. The Ozeki was perfect, we were already full before the nigiri finished, but enjoyed every bite. We were comfortably full. The 2 opening appetizers were perfect and refreshing. Nigiri was beautifully tasty, textures spot on, and the small topping accents really elevated the dish. I would love the candied yuzu on a piece of toast too. Service is very nice and attentive. I would return, and a the current price, I could eat here after a long week of work instead of waiting for a special occasion like the other omakase places in town.

What a beautiful and well priced omakase!!! My husband and I went for dinner, and got the Yokozuna set. All the flavors blended so well, from the starters to each nigiri! What is even more amazing is that there's an encore nigiri of 5- at this point we were so full but we asked for half rice which made us still enjoy without exploding! The main host/server was so attentive to each party and our orders/requests, and it was so amazing to see all the chefs in their zone! Would highly recommend going here for a nice relaxing dinner and for your moneys worth!

Locked in the 7:30 seating at Sumo Omakase with some friends. For the quality you're getting, this has to be one of the more affordable omakase spots around. sit at the counter. That's the full experience. Watching the chefs work, seeing the precision, getting each piece handed to you directly, that's how it's meant to be done. It turns dinner into a show. Fish was fresh, flavors were on point, and by the end I was full but still thinking about the last piece I ate. My wife already said she wants to go next time. She doesn't eat much though... so that just means more for me. Everybody wins.

Update after tonight's dinner: Even better the second time! The quality is impressively consistent, every bite was outstanding, and we were seated right on time. The entire evening felt smooth, polished, and thoughtfully executed. This place truly delivers -- absolutely worth every penny and easily becoming one of my favorite omakase spots in town.

When I saw the instagram ad for this place and the pricing, I couldn't wait to try them out. Safe to say that they did not disappoint. Was it the best omakase I have ever had? No, but for the price I paid, the amount of food I ate, and the overall service and ambiance, it sure was worth the $99. Seriously, this is the best deal you will get in town right now for omakase. We opted for the $99 menu and were left feeling so full by the end, which was not the case at the two other (more pricey) omakases we have tried in town. They had 2 appetizers, 11 nigiri which were served one at a time, then an encore of 5 more nigiri, then a hand roll, miso soup, and dessert. The nigiri we were served was really good and fresh. The toppings added an extra layer of flavor which is why you're paying the price you're paying. If you want an introduction to omakase "leave it up to the chef" sushi without breaking the bank, this place should be at the top of your list. It also helps that their alcoholic beverages are reasonably priced, although currently limited in selection. I had the wandering poet and the wife had the sparkling yuzu sake, which are very, very reasonably priced but also delicious, resembling some of the sakes we tasted in Japan a month ago.

Takeout follows similar rules -- you'll still likely have to wait, just like dine-in customers. If 2:30 PM passes and they can't seat you, they'll let you place a takeout order for whatever's still available, based on your position on the sign-in/waiting list. If you're only coming for nigiri, expect a wait, but the line moves fairly quickly. On a recent Friday afternoon around 1:30 PM, we waited about 20-30 minutes. They bring people inside in small groups and hand you a basket to carry your items. As for the nigiri itself, it's very solid. The seafood is noticeably fresher than what you'd find at a typical Japanese grocery or market. For example, the salmon is cut from a proper fillet rather than taken from a can, and the difference is clear. Stay tuned for the bowl review...

Somehow we stumbled into Izakaya Go, and let me tell you... this place is legit. First off, they have happy hour after 10 PM, which already makes it a win for late-night Vegas wanderers like us. Everything we ordered hit the spot. The tonkotsu ramen was comforting, rich, and flavorful. Exactly what you want after a long night out. The deep-fried shrimp and tuna were fried perfectly with a nice crisp texture. If it wasn't so late, I probably would've kept ordering more. But the real star? The Otoro (bluefin tuna belly) sashimi. Absolute must order. It literally melts in your mouth and had zero fishy smell, just pure buttery goodness. My wife isn't usually a sushi person, but she ended up loving it and ate way more than I expected. That alone should tell you something. If you're in Vegas and looking for a late-night Japanese spot that actually delivers, put Izakaya Go in your Yelp bookmarks. Your future late-night self will thank you.

It has a warm ambient glow that makes the whole place feel intimate, but noise levels can be a bit high due to the close proximity of the tables and lack of noise buffer. Their drink menu is also creative, with unique cocktails and seasonal specials worth exploring. We tried a bunch of different food items: Takoyaki balls: the BEST balls ever! And that's saying a lot because we've been to Japan ! Takoyaki itself is a classic Osaka street food, traditionally made with diced octopus in a savory batter cooked in molded griddles. Here at Hachi, these takoyaki balls are crispy on the outside with a soft center, sitting abed a rich mayo-based sauce. What makes these stand out is the contrast with the balls of delicious and, instead of a fully liquid sauce, there are small chunks of cream cheese blended in, so you have bites of that with the battered balls! Agedashi Tofu: Lightly fried tofu served in a delicate dashi broth. The exterior is soft with a bit of crisp, while the inside stays silky and custard-like. The broth is clean and, if I dare say, savory but light. Basically a punch of umami and extremely balanced! Karaage: They are known for their chicken karaage, and it absolutely delivers. The chicken lightly coated and fried until golden and crisp while staying incredibly juicy inside. Each bite has a satisfying crunch followed by tender, flavorful meat! I highly recommend pairing it with the negi sauce, which delivers a a tangy vinegar-based scallion sauce that cuts through the fat and oils, and it deeply enhances the flavor of the chicken. Yakitori Skewers: Yakitori is a traditional Japanese grilling style where small skewers of meat are cooked over charcoal. The focus is on simple flavors utilizing high-quality ingredients. We tried a mix of skewers, which comes with a slice of lemon on top to be squeezed over the skewers: * Wagyu skewers: rich, buttery, and cooked to perfection * Beef tongue: more chewy and textured, so not a huge fan of it * Chicken skin: ultra crispy with rendered fat and a satisfying crunch * Pork belly with green onions: fatty, smoky, and balanced by the freshness of scallions We also ordered a fresh scallop skewer, grilled shrimp with tartar sauce, and eel. The scallops were sweet and tender with 3 pieces per skewer. The shrimp was cooked and de-shelled and served with a tartar sauce. The eel was the most memorable with its rich, tender, and deeply savory taste. Eel (unagi) is considered a delicacy in Japanese cuisine where it's known for its sweet glaze and soft texture. Our favorites were definitely the eel and scallop skewers.
