I've been to Summit Uniforms twice. The first time, I went in then came out with no problems. That's because I didn't have to interact with any of the employees. The second time, I went in for a duty belt. The last one in my size was missing a buckle so I asked for permission to take one from another belt and they offered to do it for me. As the employee struggled to put the buckle on, I told him I'd like to try it on first so I know that it fits. He said he'll have the buckle on in no time and then disappeared to the back for 10 minutes. He came back out to confirm the size I needed and then disappeared again for another 10 minutes. I asked the lady who was doing nothing if I could pay while waiting. She rudely snapped that she doesn't know which belt I'm buying and that she doesn't know what her coworker was doing to the belt so I might have to pay extra. Okay. The guy finally comes out with my belt and the belt costs $10 more than the other store I went to that didn't have my size. I just paid so I could get out of there. I probably won't return to Summit Uniform unless I have to. If I do, I definitely know better than to ask for help. At least they had the size I needed, even though the belt wasn't in great condition and the buckle they gave me was all scratched up. On top of that, the male employee put the buckle on the wrong way so I had to fix it myself when I got home. read more

This place is fantastic if you don't expect to be pampered like a baby. A lot of the reviews I read for this place seem to expect hand service, but they don't seem to realize this place handles contracts for most Police Agencies in the South Bay, along with the U.S. Mail, Park Rangers, and others. If you don't ask for help, they're going to be focusing on their purchase orders. If you DO ask for help, they'll gladly serve you with a smile so long as you're not an ass. I've spent over a grand here in my career and will always do so in the future. If you're in LEO, they carry a ton of gear in several different styles in-store, so the chance you'll have to special order stuff is really low. This is an advantage over L.C. Action, their primary competitor, whose selection is generally limited. All in all, if you know what you're looking for and can help yourself, this place is great. If you know how to ask for help, it's just as fine. If you go in expecting it to be your average retail store where the employees are browbeaten into serving you hand and foot, you're gonna be disappointed. This place is for professionals. read more

Summit uniforms, I hope you read these reviews and I hope you take them seriously. There is a disconnect between the customer service that you are giving to some women and what we hope to receive. Women wearing uniforms and needing uniforms expect to receive the same customer service that you are providing to men. We feel we are being treated poorly and you are not remedying this problem. Recently I made three phone calls searching for uniform pants and asking some questions about tactical gear that I needed. The ladies that I spoke with were rude, short, not helpful and generally unpleasant. I was treated as though I was taking up their time and they were annoyed with me. After the first phone call I thought perhaps I was just having a rough day. After the third phone call I knew for sure that I was receiving poor service. I had decided not to make my purchase from your store after that. You just lost a client, a career of uniforms and gear. Including body armor. Furthermore, When I inquired around to other females about their experiences I was saddened to hear that they had also had similar experiences with you. I Implore you to talk to your staff, and work on how you are treating your female clients. You are really doing us ladies a disservice. I'm actually pretty steamed over this. I blasted you on Facebook over it. And you deserved it. You should never treat women like they are second-class citizens or act like a bunch of badge bunnies. It's shameful. You just embarrass yourselves. And you lose a lot of money in the process. *RESPONSE TO SUMMITS REPLY: This was not my first interaction with you. I was married to a LEO for 10 years. You were "our" store. I came there enough during that time to see how things ran. I'm very aware of how busy it can be and respect that. and I'm aware of how many Uniforms your crank out. Not once when I was with my spouse, or now in years later in my own need for Uniforms equipment do I see no change. You can call it what you want, put whatever label on it that you like... the facts are, that over those 10 years, I saw women and myself treated poorly. It was no secret at the PD either. When I was at the "other" uniform shop, two other women I spoke with had a similar experience with your store. They travelled 40 MILES!!! If I can give this place a zero star I would right now. I just got a pair of shoes from them yesterday I got to work and walked 30-40 minutes into my shift and now my shoes are falling apart literally!!! My right shoe is worse than the right causing my ankle and right side lower back to hurt. The shoes seem old as if they had them for years do not buy anything from this store otherwise you will be their next victim to over price a shitty shoe $130!! Smh. After getting fed up with Galls uniform and not having much luck with Peninsula uniforms, I came back to Summit a few times. Their tailoring has gotten better as I found the shirt and pants I ordered were much better than previous uniforms I got here. I've never seen a wait here and there is plenty of parking. Buying uniform accessories should not feel stressful. We have always been greeted and treated so well by Mark but these two made it a horrible experience. Rude is right. Unless you are one of their buddies, you're SOL. They are overpriced, and the service is pretty inconsistent. We've been going there for years, because this store seems to have all the agencies in Santa Clara County by the short and curlies - good luck finding any uniform parts elsewhere. Since we've been held hostage, we have been in for security uniforms, park ranger uniforms, SO uniforms and VTA uniforms (yes, I have family in each agency!) Sometimes the owner is nice as pie, other times he as rude and condescending. And rarely helpful, unless you catch him on a good day. The rest of the staff has good and bad days. On the right day, you can get a patch sewn on while you wait, and they'll be sweet about it. Other days, they treat you like you've inconvenienced them by being alive, and they wish you'd just go away so they can flirt with the cops that come in. read more

Yeah Summit Uniform is a great place, (If you're a cop) The moment you walk through those doors, you will immediately feel 6 to 10 eye balls on you, completely judging you from head to toe, from you'r hair cut to your socks. They're just wondering if your a cop, I swear i walked in wearing a cut off t-shirt, (I happen to have a few tattoos) to pick up some supplies because i'm a security guard. I think they almost called 911. Then when i went to go purchase my items, I said hello to the rude lady behind the counter, all she can muster to say was "what agency do you work for", then when I told her I'm undercover, and can't tell her right now. I got no laugh or smile. So I was able to make it out of the store with my brand new pair of hand cuffs I had to show two forms of I.D. and my CA guard card. Like its illegal to own a pair of handcuffs anyways. (but ohhh the girls love the real ones) So basically don't expect any good customer service, unless you'r job involves pulling over innocent civilians to harass them. Peace read more

The staff was pleasant, however, their service and care of your needs was on the contrary. Not only do they have an outdated system to order and tailor your uniforms, they have no concept of where the completed/finished product is. Meaning, one associate will tell you as soon as you inquire, "its not there." The other associate will check and find that it is there. They insist on telling you we will have patches sown on in 15 minutes but 8 days later you come to find out that it has even been put on the rack for the tailors. Completely unprofessional. Completely a waste of time, I will go to an ordinary cleaners/alterations shop and know well that when they tell me it will be done, it will. Save yourself some hassle and stress and take the drive to the Penisula or east bay, I guarantee you will be greatful. read more

Terrible customer service and very rude. I was in the market for a new jacket. I waited at least 25 minutes and tried on a few jackets. Not once did anyone greet me and ask if I needed help. I proceeded to the lady at the counter and asked for some assistance (so I could purchase a jacket) She said they were busy and it would be a few minutes. She proceeded to walk away and I over heard her tell another lady that she was working with that she hates when people come to the counter. Went in looking for EMT pants, came out with some great pants that fit me. The ladies that worked there were extremely helpful and made sure I found pants that suited my needs and fit me comfortably. Luckily, I didn't need to get mine hemmed, but another woman that was in there needed hers hemmed and they did it on the spot. Great service, my only minor issue was that sections weren't well labeled. It would've been nice to know what was in each rack section, but the salespeople were more than willing to help me out with it, so it was no big deal. I went in for my first time on a Saturday with a long list of uniforms and gear that I needed. When I walked in I could tell they were busy. There was a line with about 5 people waiting to be attended to and there were also others waiting around the store. I considered leaving and returning another day but I really needed to get my order started on my uniforms because i knew there would be alterations and orders to submit that would take extra time. I waited about 20 minutes before anyone could help me (this wasn't a problem for me, i saw that they were busy so I waited patiently). As busy as it was, the girls that work there were really working hard running around back and forth between customers and trying to get everyone what they needed. The girl that helped me gave me some uniforms to try on and each time I opened the fitting room door she would come over and take a look and see if I needed another size. Little did I know that while i was trying on jackets and belts, my pants were being hemmed and patches were being sowed onto my shirts. I got those by the time i left the store. I thought id have to pick them up another day. Great customer service, great selection. read more

I am in the San Jose City College EMT program and we are required to have a uniform for the program. Our instructor recommended Summit Uniform. I first called to find out if I needed an appointment at all for a fitting and to find out the cost of everything I would need. They said I could just walk in and gave me an estimate of how much everything would cost. When I went in to get my uniform and additional items I needed for my program I was greeted right away and helped immediately getting all the items I needed. When I ordered my original set of uniforms it took over 4 months to get them. I personally will only use them now if my agency is paying for them and that is only because they have an account. I always get good service here. The staff are friendly. Tonight I needed a new uniform cover. Normally you have to go buy the cover and they will see the agency patch on while you wait or have it ready when you come back. I needed the cover tonight and the seamstress would be leaving before I arrived. I called ahead and talked to Melinda. She had the seamstress add my agency's patch to the two possible sizes I would need while I drove to the store. When I arrived they were both on the counter waiting for me with my name on them. I have been in Summit Uniform before to buy a uniform for my EMT class, when I went in then the staff was very courteous and answered all my questions helping me pick out the right gear. I went in today to see if they could sew a piece of female Velcro onto my 82nd Airborne hat that I just purchased in order to attach my subdue American Flag. At first I was told it would not be ready until June 10th, or they could sell me a piece of Velcro and I could have it sewn on some where else. I was going to just buy the piece of Velcro when another employee saw my hat and asked if I was in the 82nd. I replied, "yes." This very nice gentleman then asked what was going on and the other employee explained it to him. He took my hat and flag and told me to stand by, about ten minutes later he came back with the Velcro sewn on and the flag attached. Great selections and friendly staff with excellent lip service, such as brother, honey, etc, to make you feel that you're taken care of. It's also pricey. It takes more than 2 months (and counting) to hem up one pair of pants. I called them a few times and it kept on ringing. Then I went to the store check on my order and their store phone rang, and rang, and the staff said to each other "I'm not picking that up". That could've been me. You better off elsewhere, Peninsula, with same day service. read more
