Beyond the best customer service anyone could ever get in anything. The employees treat you like family and are so brilliant. They know every recruit, seasoned vet, what they order, what agency their with, sizes, family, it's amazing. Sometimes they even know when folks are moving agencies and mums the word. They are so professional, even when their own vendors are slow and lacking, they will do what they can to make sure you're suited and booted, representing your agency with confidence. Pat is the man. Emily is amazing. And know one will ever forget Kathleen. The folks embroidering and hemming are magicians. Truly amazing staff, and so essential. Got some pants here and paid for hemming. I picked up pants and they did not hem them. I do not live close by so it is a hassle to have to go back. I called them and explained to them how far I live and they offered to complete the hemming and offer a refund. This would have helped with the already frustrating situation. I go back to get the hem done and they said no refund and whoever I spoke to on the phone was wrong. So they were not going to honor the refund. This place is trash and trash service. Definitely not friendly to first responders. Do not waste your time coming here. Order online or go somewhere else. This place cares about profit over customers. I've experienced ongoing challenges with Summit Uniforms' phone customer service. I placed an order in June 2025, and more than four months later, the item has still not arrived, nor have I been provided with an estimated shipping date. I've spoken with Erica several times, and although she assured me she would follow up, I have not received any updates. I also requested a callback from her manager, Donna, but have yet to hear back despite being told she would contact me over a week ago. Since the recent management change, it has become noticeably more difficult to receive timely or effective assistance over the phone. That said, I want to acknowledge that Emily and Julie consistently provide excellent in-person customer service whenever I visit the store. The owners is very nice and goes out of his way to help you with your needs. I always talk to the people who work there. Julie is a person I've worked with for years. I would leave a zero star but I can't make it happen. I've been coming here for 23 years under previous owners ( they were GREAT). The new owners have let this place go to shit almost immediately. The two young ladies have absolutely no business working with the public. Rude and obnoxious are the kindest words I can use to describe them. There's a middle age woman whom I assume is the supervisor is even worse. She is unprofessional, unhelpful and argumentative. All I needed was woman's black boot, no larger sizes and many I talked with , smaller feet were out of luck too. Then simple leather belt, common size, not many belts of any size so had to get a larger belt and modify it. There was not much help. I found other sources for what I needed . Emily is still holding down the fort, and her team will make sure to answer any questions you may have about what you're looking for. If you need anything public safety; such as uniforms, boots, ballistic vest, duty gear;etc this is the go to place. The girls on the floor are busy at times, so patience is a virtue, and they will do their best to get you squared away once they are able to help you. This store handles a lot of Police and Fire department orders for the Bay Area, Central Valley, East Bay, and as far south as Monterey county. I am ecstatic to see Summit uniforms still in business servicing the brave men and women that protect communities throughout the Bay Area, and surrounding areas. Premise: It has been mentioned here before, but I also believe that the ladies who work here only go out of their way to assist men in uniform. If you're a woman, they hesitate to help. I don't know why. Maybe their own husbands work in law enforcement so they are a priority. Even still, if you are running a store, customer service should be obligatory and non-discriminative. Scenario: I walked in and waited around for a few minutes for someone to help me. A few of my co-workers were shopping around too. There were people in front of me who were being helped. After they got their assistance, still no employee greeted me! There was a lady with black hair who I approached and said kindly, "Hi, I have a voucher from my job. Can you help me?" She said, "I'm helping another person." Soon, after I noticed she was done helping them and talking to other customer I went up to her again with just a plain, "Hi..." (Egging her on to let her know I need help.) She said she was still helping someone. Issue: During this time I asked for help and she said she was busy, none of the other ladies approached me in place of her saying that she can help me. Wouldn't it be good customer service for her to get someone to help me if she couldn't? Bright side: There was a young man that works there and he said with a smile, "Are you here for [security company]?" He gave me his full attention and was very polite. The extra star is for him. Let me start out by saying I have tried to find a better place to buy uniforms only to return to Summitt. Had a HORRIBLE experience at 10-8 Police Supply and LC Actions customer service SUCKS. Girls behind the counter of Summit are always attentive and friendly. Always have the leather gear I need. I haven't had any fitting problems, in fact all of my stuff has always been GREAT! Lots of parking in front is a bonus compared to the other two places. The reason they didn't earn 5 stars from me is... 1) When you get stuff ordered and fitted, they NEVER call you when it is ready. Do yourself a favor and just follow up. Not that hard to do. 2) After about a year or so of use, their thread in the hem of the pants ALWAYS seems to start coming loose. Never fails! Cheap fix so not a HUGE deal, but no fifth star. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Summit! I've been a customer for a few years now and have always been impressed with the level of service that they provide. Their alterations are top-notch and lighting fast! I can usually buy anything and get it hemmed/altered within minutes. I have literally bought pants, tried them on, and had them hemmed on a 15 min break! (For an urgent replacement)! I'm not sure why there are any bad reviews on Yelp for Summit. This is a Family owned business and there is no other place you can go to be treated like Family (In todays world that means everything). Walked in there a few days ago and they didn't even respond when I greeted them the lady just rolled her eyes like saying what do you want? Will never go there again. This place is great and all of the people I interacted with were extremely helpful and made the whole process fun. I don't understand any of the negative reviews on here and I'd say disregard them. This is definitely a well run family business And everyone has great energy. I came in during an extremely busy afternoon and even though someone couldn't get me started immediately, they acknowledged me and got to me quickly after. From there, they picked up everything I needed- alternate brands, sizes, etc. They got everything I needed patched and altered the same day (They had all my sizes in stock). Also, I came back the following day because I had accidently chosen a belt that hit me at my waist but the pants I went with hit me on the hip (This was my fault for not putting it on with both pairs I tried). I came in, they remembered my name, and let me just swap it out no questions asked. I am proud to support this business. read more

I went in recently because I was in a jam. I had left my uniform set at home, no time to go back and get it, and needed to get to work in two hours. I had no problem with buying a shirt and trousers, but patches had to be sewed on and the trouser length had to be adjusted. Normally you have to come back for that. I told them my predicament and they did the work while I waited. 20 minutes later I was on my way with what I needed. This was a real problem and they came through for me. I called last week to see if they carried 5.11 pants. I'm a technician, not a cop, but like wearing these items as they seem to serve my day to day tasks well. They told me to come in, no problem. I finally stopped by this week. I left without buying anything. They have a lot of boots and a lot of clothing. That being said, most of the 5.11 gear was in piles on top of the racks. There were no price tags on anything I picked up. It looked pretty disorganized. There were some pants on sized racks, to be fair. I only found one pair of pants in my size, 40x30. I grabbed them and a few other close sizes to try on in the dressing room. The dressing room had several open boxes of product in them. It looks like its a dressing/storage room. After I found a few pairs of pants I liked, I tried to get the attention of the few people working the counter. To be fair, they didn't ignore me completely, they just never got to me. You see, this is an excellent store for law enforcement and postal workers. They have a good selection of items for each and were very friendly with the several off duty officers in the store. They in fact seemed to be friends with a few of them. If I were the officers, I would love that level of service and comfortability. I got tired of waiting and hadn't had any of my answers addressed at this point, so I decided to go back to the racks and pick up another one or two pairs of pants and just buy them, figuring the prices were probably about average. At this point, several large law enforcement officers came and stood over next to me giving me what I would call the "stink eye." They then started talking loudly and in my direction about how non-law enforcement people shouldn't be in here. They went on to comment about how the staff will just kick you out if they figure you're there looking for a costume or you don't look like you "should" be buying "tactical" pants. The comments continued about how this is a serious place and civilians "shouldn't be in here playing cop." I guess if I were on trial, I couldn't legally prove they were talking about me, but it sure felt like it. I'm 6'0, 235lbs and still have my high and tight haircut from the Army. I didn't look like what one might describe as a trouble maker, but at that point I sure felt like I didn't belong. I put all of the clothes back on the rack and left without purchasing anything. I'm a big believer in supporting local business, and that was my plan. Instead, I ended up using them as a showroom to buy my items online for what I assume is less money. Again, I don't 100% fault the store for this. If you're a postal worker or law enforcement, I believe you will get great service and a sense of community from your fellow officers, thus the 2 stars. If you're a civilian, you could still try it out. You may have a better experience than me. I for one, will shop elsewhere in the future. P.S.- To my officer friends: 5.11 started as pants for mountain climbing. The 5.11 referred to a level of climbing difficulty at the founding of the company. They're not "cop pants," they're mountain climbing pants. Jerks. read more

I've been to Summit Uniforms twice. The first time, I went in then came out with no problems. That's because I didn't have to interact with any of the employees. The second time, I went in for a duty belt. The last one in my size was missing a buckle so I asked for permission to take one from another belt and they offered to do it for me. As the employee struggled to put the buckle on, I told him I'd like to try it on first so I know that it fits. He said he'll have the buckle on in no time and then disappeared to the back for 10 minutes. He came back out to confirm the size I needed and then disappeared again for another 10 minutes. I asked the lady who was doing nothing if I could pay while waiting. She rudely snapped that she doesn't know which belt I'm buying and that she doesn't know what her coworker was doing to the belt so I might have to pay extra. Okay. The guy finally comes out with my belt and the belt costs $10 more than the other store I went to that didn't have my size. I just paid so I could get out of there. I probably won't return to Summit Uniform unless I have to. If I do, I definitely know better than to ask for help. At least they had the size I needed, even though the belt wasn't in great condition and the buckle they gave me was all scratched up. On top of that, the male employee put the buckle on the wrong way so I had to fix it myself when I got home. read more
