The Summit is the quintessential neighborhood joint. It's awkwardly located in the middle of a very residential neighborhood with terrible parking so you'll find nothing but locals here. The pool table is free. The bathrooms are clean! There are a couple dozen beers on tap. They serve a modest and decent menu and they let the pizza place next door deliver to your table. The only almost-negative thing I can say for this bar is that it's tiny but that really just adds to the cozy neighborhood feel. Bonus points for the outdoor picnic tables. read more

This is my neighborhood bar and i couldn't have asked for a better place. The staff are really nice and tend to know you by name. The beer and whiskey are good and there's free pool. Since they don't have much food to serve they will let you buy pizza from next door and bring it over to enjoy. read more

Great laid-back neighborhood bar with cheap drinks, free pool, and good draft beer selection. The bartenders were friendly, service was fast, and we didn't have trouble getting a table inside on a Wednesday night, although it seemed like a pretty popular spot. There are a handful of outdoor patio tables but on a warm night these were a hot commodity. Not all who wander are lost. I wandered and found this place. Small, dark, loud, and filled with people who seem to drink here very frequently. Lots of taps, which apparently rotate, some downhome mexi grub, and what else... Hhhhmmm... What's that? FREE F**KING POOL!!! Well touché bartender. Your surly demeanor is far more justifiable when sports better played drunk are offered at no fee! I had some new fangled porter, which was good. Five stars for soccer/football fans. I went to watch the USMNT and ended up staying for the Sounders as well. It's neighborhood location is accessible but lower-keyed that some of the official US Soccer bars that are promoted as a great place to watch soccer. There's a good selection of beer on tap and the Tex/Mex menu offerings were fresh and tasty. People were pretty down-to-earth. It's a younger crowd, but they were warm and friendly to a guy about to turn 50. It's a great mix of food, drink, conversation and soccer. read more

Fairly cool bar. Location is a good walk from main Cap Hill area, but sometimes is a nice break from the crowds that area absorbs some weekend nights. Bar has reasonable average priced drinks. Deep wooden booths. Good outside seating area. Good TV situation inside if you do sports watching. read more

This little off-the-beaten-path place has a lot going for it. First, there's an outside drinking area so it's great in the summer. But my favorite things are the rotating beers and the free billiards. For beer, there's approximately 20 taps. My current favorite tap is Grimbergen abbey, a golden abbey ale with a great subtle sweetness that's great after a big meal. And a couple months ago, my favorite beer was a local black ale similar to Death and Taxes (sorry, forgot the name!). They keep rotating the beers, though, and with any luck, a couple months from now I'll have a new favorite! read more

We didn't try the food. Only the beer. My one very good friend said that the poor of Guinness was excellent! so i will have to go back and try it. As for the pitcher of Hoegaarden that my other friend and i shared...well, it was mighty delicious. And the fact that we went there at 10pm on Christmas day makes this joint a 5star establishment. Oh, and don't let me forget the fact that through this establishment I finally learned the origin of the term 'pub'. Because I thought it was 'Summit Pub House'. But when i got the receipt, it was 'Summit Public House'. and it dawned on me that 'pub' must have been derived from 'public'. never too late to learn something old. read more

Not too shabby for a local dive bar - a good selection of beers, and an oyster night??! Which left we curious what it would be like to have an oyster tasting at such an establishment. My friend used to live in the neighborhood and had her birthday party here, which accommodated well the steady stream of friends over a prolonged period. Love this dive! it's about a block from my apartment, which is good and bad :P Sometimes I can hear peeps gathering for various sports reasons, but I don't mind; means this neighborhood is alive! I'd recommend swinging by for some local brews - they have a decent list. read more

Decent neighbourhoody joint. I constantly forget exactly where it is. Kind of tucked away on a darker street. Nice and dark with a decent tap selection. Bartender tonight was pretty unengaged and kept asking what the name on the tab was despite the fact that there were only 5 people total in there. Everyone has an off night. no real complaints. This is a perfect getaway from the busy capitol hill streets. I checked out this place on a Monday! It was all night happy hour with a really good tap list. Really good service and friendly staff. i love the summit. the only reason i would ever hesitate to give it a full 5 stars? their beer prices. other than that, though - free pool, awesome bartenders, they allow dogs, outside seating (though recently, they've been forced to have people smoke outside of the gate - stupid neighbors), several TVs if you wanna watch sports, bicycling, etc., the occasional free bbq (the next one is on election day - GOBAMA), and consistently good music. read more

This place is definitely a neighborhood bar, and a cool one at that. They have good local beers, good places to sit and good burritos. The first time I went here the bartender was really sarcastic in a dick way, but I just brushed it off and he warmed up really quick. Every time I go back he has been nice. The other bartender is really friendly. You can play pool with a big group of friends or have an intimate date with someone at a table for two. Cool outdoor sections. Overall a really fun place to hangout. read more

Flat out, it is a real life public house. Neighbors hang out there and there is absolutely no pretense. Seattle is greatly lacking in this area. Even decent places usually get screwed up by the crowd that gathers there. Not the Summit, people are great on both sides of the bar. read more

Randomly out and about on the hill on a tuesday and stumbled upon this hidden gem! Good music was blasting, dude tending bar was awesome and gave some good advice on other spots in the area to check out as well. The drink selections change quite frequently, so there's usually something new for me to try. They also make their own burritos, tacos, and guacamole, which is all delicious. this is your average bar. dark, loud, sometimes crowded, nothing special. great beer selection though - and decent prices. clean bathrooms too, if that's what you're looking for in a bar. they have free pool as well. this place seems much more laid back than other places on capitol hill. i felt completely comfortable popping in in jeans, a t-shirt and flip flops for a spur-of-the-moment drink with friends, whereas some other places on broadway, i would have felt way underdressed. read more
