We looked over the menu outside and stepped inside when ready. Once inside, we were quickly greeted by the worker that was serving drinks. We ordered two prickly pear lemonades with her and also some waters. Then we moved down the line and ordered our food. I ordered the roasted turkey sandwich and it was a hit. We sat outside in the grassy area under trees and a few minutes later my number was called out. My sandwich was really good and it was a pretty good size. I liked that they did not skimp out on the turkey slices and it was not dry. After we ate, we walked around tot he back to see the few animals and we stopped by the gift shop. Overall we had a good time! Food was great and the service was also!

So far, I'm into week 4 of Maya's Farm Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) for Winter 2013. I've…read morereally been excited every week to receive the wonderful veggies and fruits. If you are not familiar with a CSA and how it work, here's a down and dirty explanation. You pay a certain amount of money in advance for several months of veggies each week. In this case, Maya's farm charges about $300 for 12 weeks of a whole heck of a lot of veggies that are certified organic. You support your local farmers and you know where your food is coming from. I recommend that you swing by the farm and take a stroll around. You might see Maya. I've met her and I think she's a very nice person. I will update this review with more info but I think the pictures that I post of Maya's Farm CSA speak for themselves. My only wishlist with Maya's farm is to have a half-basket. My small family and I can't finish all the veggies in one week.

Bananas, tomatoes, and Gala apples were almost liquid but the everything else was perfect and delicious! I let Kim know what worked and what didn't and she was very responsive. My second order came today and the packing team had lovingly snuggled everything together perfectly into one box and even wrapped the tomatoes in bubble wrap. It rode down the trail on the mules then sat in my office all day. Everything was still cold and fresh when I unpacked it tonight!! I almost sang with excitement at the picture perfect beets and chard and assorted peppers. They are at their peak and so tasty!! I'm not a big fan of the concept of the Walmart Neighborhood Market - according to Walmart, it's…read moresupposed to "woo shoppers with easier parking, less crowded aisles and quicker checkout." I can see how that would be appealing to someone who treats Walmart SuperCenter as the place to do their primary grocery shopping. In that case, the individual would probably welcome the opportunity to skip out on the toys, electronics, home goods, and massive lines that characterize your average Super Walmart. They would probably be thrilled with the fact that this version of Walmart maintains the low prices but downsizes the space and speeds up checkout (and for that matter, has self-checkout, which larger Walmarts do not). However, since I shop for groceries elsewhere (my love, Fresh and Easy, or Fry's), only get food at Walmart if I'm also there shopping for other things, and see Walmart as a place to find home goods (paper products, cat food, towels) at really low prices, the Neighborhood Market doesn't really serve my needs. When I went to this location last night to check it out on the day of its grand opening, I discovered that the selection of non-food home goods is pretty small. As an example, they only had 2-3 brands of cat food. They also didn't have hard alcohol (only wine and beer), and the deli selection looked pretty slim. To sum it up, if you frequent larger Walmarts for food, limited house goods, and the pharmacy, you will appreciate having a downsized version of the store. If you like going to Walmart to find a really large selection of every kind of product, you will probably not find the Neighborhood Market too useful.

I am surprised reviewers to Yelp give this Walmart Neighborhood Market a lowly 2.5 rating, yet…read moreGoogle offers it a more amplified 4.1, I think a yay bit little too much! As far as this Walmart Neighborhood Market goes and giving it a benefit of the doubt to hard working associates - management excluded. This store has improved somewhat since it's remodeling not too long ago. It's product line has also gone better. But there are still too many factors it should work on (other stores also need to heed this issue as it is not just at this location). Your folks in general look like their tired, maybe overworked. Your store(s) need improved rotation of dated perishable products, eliminate entirely any cold foods that 'go back' - do not put them back on shelf... you don't know how long they've been there, do real inspections of counters - both dry and cold, especially meats and produce. And (corporately) improve your dating specifications or requirements, as expires by a particular date, the product always seems to expire sooner - what's with that? These are some of the issues that confront me (or should I say all customers) every time I visit. As an educated consumer and as a former secret shopper, believe me these improvements are critical to enhanced sale, reduction in returns and a much, much happier and satisfied customer.

I was in line to check out with my 15 or so items and the customer ahead of me had about 3 carts full of food and flowers. The cashier was going as fast as he could but it was an overwhelming amount of items. The cashier did not receive one offer of help to bag the food even though there were at least two other persons who could have helped. Instead, they ignored the cashier and went to help in other lanes where customers were purchasing only a few items. I don't know why the cashier was ignored, maybe no one likes him and this was some sort of collective punishment. Well, he was not the only one punished. I was also punished by having to stand in line for around 10 minutes. I couldn't switch lines because there was an onslaught of other customers in each of the open lines. Consistency and professionalism are no longer values fostered and maintained at AJ's in newly hired team members due to lack of effective leadership and sub-par training programs. Thankfully the long-standing staff that care is the only saving grace of this store, along with a variety of good items not found nearby due to the lack of competition which also has contributed to AJ's decline.
