    Barrio Taco Shop Menu

Nice little barn located along Baseline Road in South Phoenix. Not a place you would expect to see it for sure. It's been a staple on this side of town though, and has a great selection of locally sourced produce and unique offerings! The staff is very friendly and they often share samples of their seasonal fruits for their patrons to try. We were offered slices of their tangelos and they were SO SWEET, we bought some for the trip home. *Bonus* The Barrio Taco Shop sets up an amazing taco stand in front on Saturdays and Sundays from 11-5 (or until sold out, which happens often because they are that good)! They offer a simple menu of a few different types of tacos - truly delicious tacos! Carne Asada, cabeza, & pork pastor/pineapple. All are SOOOO good and fairly priced, I might add! Also serving up nachos, and agua frescas too! You don't want to miss this one. Great place to end up on a weekend when driving through Phoenix! (Barn is closed Sunday, but the taco shop is steady slangin tacos both Sat & Sun). Highly recommended.

Tried to stop by another farm stand today with no success so I was glad to find summers! The people working here are super nice and helpful. I got to try a blackberry and it was delicious. I ended up buying some sweet potatoes, salad dressing, and medium salsa. I am so excited to eat them all! Really cute place with a good amount of fresh produce, would come again for sure!

Lisa one of the friendly employees stated face masks were my prerogative - I kept mine on. Think of a Farmer's Market on fruit steroids & here's Summer Fruit Barn - not in an actual barn. A classic fruit stand with local products ranging from veggies, dates, honey, nuts, salsa, jams & even AZ namesake - cactus candy. In addition to the goodies, from 7A-2P you can get a fresh-squeezed drink/smoothie. With the offering of samples, again your decision to partake or note, yet various samples are cut up & served on a frequent rotation. I got a bag of sweet Grapefruit to juice while I was in town & only paid $6 for the bag. I recommend SFB if you are looking for inexpensive, farmed & organic garden goodies. I'll be back upon my next visit to PHX.

This place is awesome!! Tons of fruit and nuts. All kinds of things to experiment with. Honey and vegetables as well. The folks who run it are sweet and really nice.

Fresh organic produce, nuts, and snacks.

2/28/26: it was disappointing eating lunch at The Farm. Years ago we had eaten at Quiessence and…read morehad a lovely time. Wanting to try another of their restaurants before the ungodly heat arrived, we decided to stop in for lunch. Parking: can be a bit nerve wracking, especially parking in the dirt lots east of the place. You have to walk across 32nd St & if you know Phoenix drivers, this can be dangerous. There is a pedestrian light now, though, so that helps -- but oddly enough, there's no "walk" signage. It's merely a blinking yellow light for north- sound-bound traffic so you have to pray to the universe drivers are paying attention & actually stop for you. Ordering: a bit odd. The main door we went in was more the middle door that didn't really take you to the beginning. There's a drink station then the food station. We skedaddled to the right of the main doors for the drink order, only to discover there's another door that people walk through to place orders. So we joggled w/ another customer trying to figure out who was there first. It honestly felt like a school cafeteria, a bit chaotic, as well as cramped. The patio was pretty large & well shaded, but it was also full -- and this particular day also the ONLY SHADE. We were left to sit at one of their many tables on the grounds with no shade. Food: not worth the $77 we paid. I get it's a working farm, & though we try to support local as much as possible, the food we ordered was not good enough that we will stop by again. The strawberry fields salad was a typical salad, no wow factor there. The Italian sammy was dry. There was a minuscule amount of some kind of dressing on it, but def not enough. Dessert: red velvet whoopie pie was so overpriced it's not funny. If it tasted great, I wouldn't complain...it did not taste great. The pecan pie was abysmal; not enough filling and very bland. Two "specialty" drinks, a salad, a sandwich, & two small desserts, for $77? No, sorry, not again.

If you are not familiar with a CSA and how it work, here's a down and dirty explanation. You pay a certain amount of money in advance for several months of veggies each week. In this case, Maya's farm charges about $300 for 12 weeks of a whole heck of a lot of veggies that are certified organic. You support your local farmers and you know where your food is coming from. I recommend that you swing by the farm and take a stroll around. You might see Maya. I've met her and I think she's a very nice person. I will update this review with more info but I think the pictures that I post of Maya's Farm CSA speak for themselves. My only wishlist with Maya's farm is to have a half-basket. My small family and I can't finish all the veggies in one week.

The canyon has been closed since the pandemic and most places will not ship to us. Thank goodness for Kim at Boxed Greens!! The first order was a trial and I ordered an assortment of different fruits and vegetables to see how they would do on the Mules. Bananas, tomatoes, and Gala apples were almost liquid but the everything else was perfect and delicious! I let Kim know what worked and what didn't and she was very responsive. My second order came today and the packing team had lovingly snuggled everything together perfectly into one box and even wrapped the tomatoes in bubble wrap. It rode down the trail on the mules then sat in my office all day. Everything was still cold and fresh when I unpacked it tonight!! I almost sang with excitement at the picture perfect beets and chard and assorted peppers. They are at their peak and so tasty!! As far as this Walmart Neighborhood Market goes and giving it a benefit of the doubt to hard working associates - management excluded. This store has improved somewhat since it's remodeling not too long ago. It's product line has also gone better. But there are still too many factors it should work on (other stores also need to heed this issue as it is not just at this location). Your folks in general look like their tired, maybe overworked. Your store(s) need improved rotation of dated perishable products, eliminate entirely any cold foods that 'go back' - do not put them back on shelf... you don't know how long they've been there, do real inspections of counters - both dry and cold, especially meats and produce. And (corporately) improve your dating specifications or requirements, as expires by a particular date, the product always seems to expire sooner - what's with that? These are some of the issues that confront me (or should I say all customers) every time I visit. As an educated consumer and as a former secret shopper, believe me these improvements are critical to enhanced sale, reduction in returns and a much, much happier and satisfied customer.

At first, I thought it was just someone nearby, but when I got in my car, the smell was still there. I checked my bags and realized it was coming from the ground beef. When I looked closer, I saw greenish stuff seeping through the packaging. Absolutely disgusting. I'll never buy food items from Walmart again, and honestly, this experience has completely turned me off from ground beef altogether. Makes me wonder is it the employees who just doesn't care or is it corporate pushing numbers

The store itself hits that perfect middle ground. Not massive, not cramped. You can actually move around without feeling like you're navigating an airport terminal. Everything's clean, shelves are stocked, and it's laid out in a way that doesn't make you work for it. What keeps pulling us back is the mix. You've got your basics, sure, but then there's all the random, slightly offbeat stuff that makes it interesting.
