A really great family run place. We had lunch here. Staff was welcoming and friendly and attentive. I had a turkey panini which was delicious. My wife had Cobb salad and that was also great - they put some avocado on extra at her request. Best thing about this place is that the chef makes a variety of delicious desserts (peanut butter pie, turtle brownies, apple pie, blueberry lemon Bundt cake, lemon meringue pie, pineapple upside down cake, etc). We had the pineapple upside down cake and it was delicious. They practically give us a quarter cake ...not sure if all slices are that generous but was impressive. The cost was very reasonable ($37 for two) for us, who are used to West coast prices. read more

A local shop recommended we come here for lunch. We wanted something light because we knew we would be having an early dinner. The half sandwich, half soup combo was a perfect option. They have four soups available. I had the vegetable beef which had a nice light beef broth and the meat in the soup was tender and delicious. Everyone else had creamy tomato which they enjoyed. The sandwiches wers also very good. The gourmet grilled cheese has lots of smoky bacon and buttery, crusty bread. The California Reuben had a lot of turkey and a heap of slaw and sauce. It made it a bit soggy but i didn't mind. This only cost about eight bucks. This price for that food is perfect. Other places might charge twelve and that turn me away. I will definitely come back to summer thyme. They also have a case of desserts that look amazing. Lemon bars, brownies, and a bunch of pies. read more

We live just down the road and can't believe we didn't know about Summer Thyme until a few months ago. They have now become one of a few favorites that we regularly go to when we are taken with decision fatigue at the end of the day. I love the Cobb salad, my spouse loves the meatloaf and we have bought more slices of pie than we care to admit to. We always forget about their carrot cake until I go to pick up our food. Convenient to order online. Food was ready as I walked in the door, right on time. The club sandwich on Texas that was fresh and delicious. Generous portions of meat and cheese. But your typical thin deli meat, but thick but ham piled high with turkey and outs of bacon. The most amazing deli I've been to, maybe ever. It's so quaint and isn't trying to be anything it's not. So awesome and honest! The waitress for lunch was so nice and attentive to the entire restaurant, she recommmended the tomatoe soup saying it's the "best soup in town" and it's easily the best tomato soup I've ever had. Summer Thyme is one of my favorite go to lunch spots during the work week. The service is always fast, but it feels like you are getting away more than a quick service place. Both the salads and paninis are always great. The paninis are made with yummy bread that is nice and crunchy. I often get a bowl of soup or chili to go with it. The only thing I haven't tried is dessert, which I plan to soon! Good food, friendly staff, super fast and you can pretty much always get a table right away. Perfect for mid-week lunches. read more

I live in the neighborhood that Summer Thyme is in and I cannot give it enough praise. They're service is always excellent and no matter how busy they're you are always made to feel like you are the most important guest they have. Jeff (the owner) is always working right along with his staff and they are always very pleasant. I think it says a lot when you go in and the help never changes, they seem to enjoy their jobs and it shows. The food is always very, very good and they are always willing to make a change to a sandwich or a salad if something isn't to your liking. I think the prices are great for what you get. This place is definitely a great lunch and dinner spot. You have to try their pot roast, it just melts in your mouth. It's nice to have a place like this that is within walking distance. Delicious little cafe! Stop here all the time for lunch. Decided to give it a try for dinner. Had a bowl of chili and a side salad, as I was not all that hungry. Chili was very good, tomato and bean based. Didn't have an overly bean or tomato flavor. The side salad was fresh with ripe, red tomato slices. I was here recently and had a chicken Caesar wrap, potato salad, and creamy tomato soup. Soup is good. The side was a good portion and price, only $.50 to upgrade from chips. Taste was ok. The spinach wraps they use are not the best, tastes like grass. I have had many spinach wraps and this just wasn't a good one. The filling was not tossed before filling so I got many bites that just tasted like plain chicken and grass, not ideal. They don't make all their desserts there and don't know where they all come from, so I didn't love that either. They do make the fruit pies and have Plainwell ice cream. Coffee was ok. Terrible! What a waste of a dinner. The food was microwaved (I could have made better myself, and I don't cook very often.). The server kept coughing and sneezing. We were ONE of TWO tables in the restaurant and it was still difficult to flag down the waitress. I ordered lemon merangue pie for dessert. I figured- how can you mess that up? IT WAS FROZEN AND FREEZER-BURNED. Yuck, just absolutely terrible restaurant. This was not a one-time experience I have actually had two horrible dinners here. It was also not cheap, so it was in no way a bargain even if the food would have been good. Go somewhere else! There are too many other restaurants in Kalamazoo! read more

The service was fast and friendly, and I could see that they kept up with the counter business they were doing with take-outs for lunch.
