Trendy curb appeal, only moderately trendy menu. Overall this place is great. I've only ordered take out/delivery, but the food is worth coming back to. Delicious! I had heard about this place from a friend...it sounded pretty similar to Summer Canteen in Toluca Lake which I've been to before. Turns out they are owned by the same people and offer similar dishes. The portions are great for the price and everything tasted awesome. I would recommend the Orange chicken and Pad Kee Maw (Drunken noodles). The place is very small so it may be tricky on the weekends but they offer free delivery within 3 miles and seem to do quite a bit of take out orders. read more

I almost don't want to review this awesome place, lest it lose its hole in the wall charm. Although the secret is out of the bag, you can still get a seat without an obsene wait, and if your lucky, chat with the charming owner. The food is subtle, not disguised under massive ingredients. You can really taste pure coconut in the curry, and each flavor on the Pad Thai. The shrimp used in some of their dishes is particularly fresh and huge! No bay shrimp bits here! The not so ordinary orange chicken is tender but crunchy, but my favorite is the Summer Fried Rice. very light, but substantial. A perfect mix of texture, sweet and tangy. Yum! Great value for you $$ and their portions are so generous! I love the ambiance. They actually built this place with reclaimed materials with minimalist but warm flair. The background music is perfect! A super cool mix of jazz, indie tunes, & blues... When you leave their comfortable cushioned benches, all your senses are well pleased. Now, go! I really wanted to like this place as I live nearby and love Thai food. I only got food from there once and it was take-out, so maybe just an off night. I ordered the Pad Thai. It was very bland and the noodles were all clumped together and over-cooked. It would be an exaggeration to say it was like over-cooked spaghetti with peanut butter, but honestly, that's what came to mind. Today was my first experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was small and cozy without feeling crowded or claustrophobic. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. The atmosphere was nice and pleasant. Most importantly the food was delicious. I had a Thai iced tea, steam dumplings with sauce appetizer, and curry as the main dish. The steamed dumplings were in a delicious sauce unlike anything I've tasted. Definitely a must try! Next up is the curry. It had wonderful flavor and lots of veggies. They served it mild but that was quickly remedied with fresh Thai chilies and dry spice. They served it and the brown rice conveniently in one bowl which made it easy and cleaner to mix. A huge plus for me. I will be back again soon and will be my go-to Burbank/Noho Thai place moving forward. Can't wait to introduce some ppl to it. read more

Admittedly, I order the same thing every time -- the green curry -- but it's scrumptious. Minus one star for not answering their phone though; it goes to a fax machine. I thought their phone was down, but luckily I was able to order online, via Yelp and Eat24. I showed up at the restaurant to pick up my order and had a short wait. While waiting, I decided to call them to see if their phone was working. Sure enough, it was! Nobody chose to answer it (but then again, only one woman was hosting/serving/preparing the take out orders). Sigh. I got my food, went home, and inhaled my meal. While inhaling, I got a text from Eat24 that my order had not yet been confirmed, but of course it *did* go though, as here I was covered in green curry. First time here for dinner . Customer service is good and clean . Ordered pad Thai , summer salad , orange chicken and pad see ew . Summer salad is good. Orange chicken was a typical orange chicken but some of of meat is chewy. Pad see ew has a strong fish sauce smell and chicken tasted chewy and old tasting. Pad Thai was okay , felt like the noodle needed more char and color bc it came out kinda wet. Portion and price are reasonable but better go to Thai town to get better foods. First Chance: I ordered delivery via EAT24 for Pad Thai & the Berf curry. The delivery man was prompt so the stars are mostly for him. (+1) The beef in the curry was so, so dry and tough that I had to cut the big meat chunks into small bits to get some flavor. (-1 star) The BIG negative was the Pad Thai which although tasted decent, came with a surprise ingredient halfway into the dish--PLASTIC WRAPPING. (-2) Second chance: I was about done with this place when I decided to give it another shot but mostly because I was hungry & my order was saved for a quick pick up order. Ugh, what an upset that turned out to be as it was anything but quick. They don't have a parking lot (-1) and they are on a busy street and surrounding apartment complexes so parking is scarce on a Sunday night (I can only imagine what a busy Friday/Saturday would be like). As it was a pick up and I couldn't find parking after circling a bit, I called and told the lady who picked up of the issue and that I was right outside of the restaurant in my car--less than 100 ft outside! She replies, stating the obvious: "yeah we have no parking. It's street parking only." So I asked if she could bring it out to me since I was literally outside, less than 50 ft from the door and she replies: "um, maybe in like 5 mins." 5 mins later and a few circling around the block, I find parking and walked in myself to a restaurant that wasn't even really busy. It literally took me 5 big steps from where my car had been to the restaurant. (-1) They could have been much friendlier as there are definitely better options for Thai around the area. Walked in alone on a Friday night around 6:45 and was sat at the bar. I was going to go to my normal Thai spot down the road but they don't serve wine and I wanted a glass with dinner so I thought I would try something new. I cracked open my book and ordered wine and drunken noodles with no onion. was kind of disappointed at their tiny menu. Food took kind of a long time, but wasn't too worried. Then they sat a table of 3 at a 2 person table right in front of me and blocked me off from the restaurant completely. No bathroom trips for me! Food finally came and it had onion but I am not a jerk so I didn't send it back and ate around them. Food was pretty good but SO salty. The waiter did not come back to me once. Didn't ask if I wanted more wine or dessert. Didn't refill my water. Nothing. I was there for over an hour (which is a crazy long time when you are eating alone) and the last half of it I spent trying to get the servers attention as he served the only 6 other tables in the entire restaurant-- but I was trapped in the corner. There was also a line of people outside waiting to be sat-- all looking through the window at me like I was a jerk for sitting there taking up space. At one point I just sat backwards in my chair looking forlornly into the restaurant hoping to be rescued. FINALLY the water rboy came to refill my water and I asked him for the check. The food was ok but the service was so bad I wont be back. I feel like the good rating is just because of the hipster vibe. Season Thai on Orange Grove is a million times more delicious and EXCELLENT service. read more

Okay... I have been reluctant to write this update because I really love the food and overall vibe at Summer Buffalo. However, I have to mention that it takes an exceptionally long time for food to arrive once it has been ordered. About a year ago, the service was quick and the food orders were brought to the table within a very reasonable amount of time. There were days I would go there for lunch AND dinner. I would even place orders for lunch meetings that I was hosting for work. I've tried overlooking it but it's become unbearable. At this point, I only go there very seldomly when I have an abundant amount of time. It seems as though they're actually butchering the chickens they're cooking and picking the vegetables they'll be cooking with. Summer Buffalo is probably the best I've ever had with its limited menu but to me that's a good thing instead of having too much to choose from. I've eaten here many times, usually for lunch. The lunch menu isn't very big, and there isn't a huge price difference from the normal menu, but it's tasty. The orange chicken is special and I could eat it every time. The pad thai is quite good, and so are the curries. It's a small space focused on good, clean, tasty food. Five stars for that. read more

The restaurant itself is small, but nicely designed.
