I have mixed feelings about our dinner here. The wings and sausage apps were liked by everyone at our table. The water came with a wedge of lime in tiny adorable little cups we loved and kept the water super cold the entire time. The service was good and the waitress was kind and answered every question. However.... I'm gluten free and asked about the pad see ew. She said they could make it gluten free. Music to my ears. The Pad See Ew came to the table without the black bean sauce and while the noodles were cooked to perfection, the taste was not the same. I asked if they forgot the sauce and she said the black bean sauce is made with soy sauce which has gluten so they left it out! I feel like this was a lost in translation situation. I would've ordered something else if she would've said they were going to give me plain noodles with no sauce. Apparently they cannot make the sauce with gluten free soy sauce. It was a big faux pas in my book. I heard their orange chicken was great. It sure looked great. Everyone else loved their meal. I wish I would've had the same experience. This place is great. I eat there frequently and take home at least every other week. The service is great, and the quality of the food if top. Order brown rice and get black rice which is perfectly chewy and great. Not a better Thai restaurant anywhere. I heard there were some people complaining about the restaurant. Giving it one star. It started about the take out. They came in, grabbed a bag with out looking at the name and then came back and claimed the restaurant was at fault and they are giving it bad reviews. IGNORE them. The one star review by Mapnha A. is simply an unwarranted attack on this great restaurant. First, this guy was not a customer. He is a delivery person who picked up the wrong delivery bag (he came in a picked up a bag when the restaurant people were not present). He did not confirm that it was the correct bag, which is required by the agreement between the restaurant and the delivery company. He wanted to blame the restaurant when it was entirely his fault. I witnessed the confrontation that ensued when this guy came in and tried to blame the restaurant. He is a very large man who was invading the space of a small woman (two feet taller and 3 times heavier). Very obnoxious. I eat at Summer Buffalo almost every week (sometimes more!!). Cute little place with some delicious Thai cuisine. It's not the most inviting or comfortable spot to dine-in. Outdoor might be a little better, but we did sit inside. Service was charming and excellent and portions were ample and delicious. We started with Curry Dumplings that were SO good! I had Pad Thai which I Liked although it could have had a little more peanut sauce. My wife got their Special Pork Tacos (although, I don't think they're really a special as their Special Board is the same as it was a couple years back and never seems to change). First time we ordered for pick up and the food was prepared fast and the food was very good. We first ordered the not so ordinary orange chicken, fried dumplings, red curry, and the fried rice. All so good. The second time we ate in and our experience was even better. I wasn't feeling so good bc I I had a headache so I decided to order the tom yum, pad Thai, orange chicken, fried dumplings, gyoza, Thai tea, and my wife ordered the dish with the sunny side egg on top with ground beef green peppers etc. the whole family was happy. Our waitress was so nice and understanding when my son tipped over my wife's Thai tea. Customer service was great they really made us feel at home. Only two iffy things was I didn't really like the seasame seed on the rice during our to go order and the pad Thai did seemed like it was missing something. Everything we have ordered from them has been delicious, with generous portions, and timely delivered with a smile. Covid review - There is not dine-in option so it's all order to-go. Pad thai was just ok in my opinion and gets mushy in the container from the steam. If you're ordering pickup, I would suggest somehow pop open the lid of the container but you'd have to carefully transport your food. The summer fried rice is pretty good. Can't go wrong with the meat, egg, rice combo. It's not at all spicy until you add some of the sauce from the little container. That's where all the pepper heat is. read more

We tried the chicken satay,green dumpling with curry sauce and the Pad Kee Mau. The satay was cooked to perfection! The green curry sauce was creamy and delicious. We visited Burbank from the Bay Area last month and were craving Thai food. After checking Yelp, we found a few restaurants in the area, but most were about to close as it was close to 9 pm. We called Summer Buffalo and were greeted by a super nice person who said they could still take us. When we arrived, they remembered our call and seated us at a cozy corner table. I absolutely loved the ambiance of this place--super casual yet romantic with a jazzy, chill vibe. The decor wasn't overly elaborate, but the dim lighting and thoughtful service created a great atmosphere. They even reused glass bottles with original labeling, which added a touch of sustainability and personality. We ordered the green curry chicken, pad kee mau with chicken, and chicken Thai fried rice. Everything was incredibly delicious. We also had coconut water which was so sweet and refreshing. The service was excellent, always with a smile. The host/server was extremely friendly and even offered to cut the coconut in half and pack it for us so we could enjoy the coconut meat later. If you are walking by the restaurant and smell the delicious food (hence lured in like a Siren's call), then it's fantastic! Except when ordering to-go upon arrival, the environment and restaurant connoisseurs appear anxious and rushed, especially given the tiny space and the fact that other Uber delivery driver's appear to have precedence of the customer gently indicating he is ready to order. The staff forced the purchase as a debit card (and I wanted to pay with cash, plus leaves tips easier and more tangible - who doesn't like that!?), and ushered me to pay quickly because the Uber delivery people had arrived post-haste. Talk about being judged!! Wearing flip-flops, a comfy T-shirt and some shorts, the guests were noticeably confused as to why I was standing waiting for "food." I felt uncomfortable. A couple entered while I was waiting, and the table that was available for them was "off skewer," wobbling back and forth and as they sat down to order, he came underneath the table to fix it for about 10 uncomfortable seconds. Because I was waiting (and standing wasn't a forte at this restaurant), having taken a seat in a neighboring 2-seated table left their availability limited for another dining spot. So I smiled and moved as soon as I realized this and they passed me just commenting on how this other table was available, refusing eye contact and non-verbally shunting me out of their comfy space. Ugh. Then just getting the food the woman who placed my food in the to-go bag was like "here you go" didn't look at me and seemed to be just like everyone else there - displeased with their environment lol I don't know. Food was good, atmosphere was y to the crap (crapy). Their food is great, but every single time I order takeout they say it will be ready in 20 minutes. So everytime I show up in 20 minutes and they make me wait another 20 to 30 minutes. This is not the first second or third time they do this. I am literally waiting for my food right now as I am writing this review. And the worker is always rude and unhelpful about it. She always says almost ready but I wait 20 minutes after. She can at least be a little nice it's not like I care early and am rushing her. What a hidden gem! We were looking around for a place that was open after 8:30pm for takeout, and Summer Buffalo popped up on Yelp. My housemates and I hadn't had Thai food in a while so we were really looking forward to it. Ordering over the phone was easy, and they estimated 20 minutes to put it all together. I ordered the salmon curry noodle, my housemate ordered the wings, and the other ordered the drunken noodles. Once we got there, they needed a bit longer to finish the order. My housemate additionally ordered the Thai tea and I ordered a Thai beer because they were offering 50% off. I really liked the flavors of the salmon curry noodle, and the salmon was tender enough to cut with a fork. Somehow the outside of the salmon was still dryer than I'd like, and I wasn't a fan of the dry noodles that topped it off, but overall I did enjoy the item. The beer was good too--not heavy at all. My housemate enjoyed her wings and Thai tea. No complaints there. My other housemate said she could tell the drunken noodles would be good, but they were too spicy for her (she doesn't like spicy food). My other housemate and I tried them and liked them, so we saved them for later. They heated up well late the next day, and made for a great dinner! I recommend trying Summer Buffalo and hope to return myself. I want to try their other curries and noodles! read more

The restaurant is pet friendly and kids friendly. The food tastes good and the portions are decent. The price for the food is reasonable.
