Yuca

Great yuca!!! Sauce good too. Rustic and more authentic than we've had in the US. Chicha jarra is the way to go, you get a great deal! Thank you. Tasted great. Hubby got seco and Aguadito and liked both. I got chupe and yes! Was so good! Missing cheese unfortunately, that's why I took off a star. But was still good. Service was great! Parking at the door. Store with lots of Peruvian products. We went for a second order of yuca. Thank you!

Sumak Peruvian Restaurant is in the same plaza as northgate and el pollo loco. The restaurant was a bit hard to find because the name of it was not in the front. I had the shrimp limo saltado for lunch today and I would not recommend it. The sauce of the lomo saltado was underwhelming. It was lacking flavor and the consistency of the sauce was very runny. The rice was decent but the fries were soggy. At its price point, I was expecting a bigger portion and a higher quality dish. The green sauce on the side was also mediocre. My sister and I agreed that there are other better Peruvian restaurants out there. I would recommend checking out Ceviche 19 if you're going to be paying ~$20 a dish.

Topped with a sunny-side-up egg and fragrant Thai basil, it's a rich, cohesive dish that hits all the right notes. Soft Shell Crab Curry: The execution on the crab is flawless--perfectly crispy and light. Peruvian food is one of my top 10 favorite cuisines, and I've tried most items on Ají Limón's menu…read morewhen I was in Peru. I find the food here to be decent to satisfy my random Peruvian food cravings and not wildly far off from the food I had in Peru. I had gotten takeout here a few times but finally dined in for a weekday lunch recently. Didn't get the server's name, but service was amazing. We did stand by the entrance for a few minutes before anyone greeted us and seated us, but that could be due to the restaurant layout that's somewhat of an upside down L shape, and most people were sitting tucked inside away from the entrance. I've got ceviche mixto and recently ceviche mariscos. Both are satisfying. The difference is the mixto contains white fish and all the other seafood (shrimp, octopus, squid, mussels) while the ceviche mariscos only contains the non-fish seafood. They are not cheap, but the portion is generous and it is quite a lot of seafood. We got medium spicy for dine in, which was the right call. I think I had gotten spicy in the past, and while I love spicy food and have good tolerance, it was still spicy to me and distracted a bit from enjoying the seafood. The ceviche comes with sweet potato, yucca, boiled corn, and cancha (Peruvian corn nuts). And no meal is complete without a chicha morada. I also enjoy anything with platano frito. If I recall correctly, the tallarín verde and lúcuma ice cream were pretty good, too. The pionono is okay; I'm not a huge fan of sponge cake, and the dulce de leche is very sweet. I prefer Porto's tres leches cake, which I know isn't Peruvian, but is perfect for my taste.

The steak and egg was juicy and comforting, and the Pescado a lo Macho came loaded with seafood goodness. If you love soup, the Parihuela seafood soup is rich, hearty, and perfect for seafood lovers. And don't skip the maracuyá passion fruit juice... seriously so refreshing. For dessert, the picarones were warm, sweet, and dangerously addictive. Plus the chocolate cake? Gone in seconds The portions are HUGE, so come hungry or be ready for leftovers. The vibe is cozy with fun Latin music playing, and the staff was super sweet even when it got busy. Aji Limon definitely gave me happy food coma energy

It's a bigger portion than the dish I had more than a year ago. Also, this doesn't have wonton strips and peas. You order at front, and food and drinks get sent to your table. There's also a 3% surcharge to your subtotal for using a card. They cook your food to order here, and I could smell the fried rice getting prepared on the stove. The fried rice is strong in flavor but not too salty. It's similar to what you might get from a teppanyaki restaurant. The chicken was also good, but I felt that the rice had much more flavor. It wasn't really juicy as well. Otherwise, this made for a great dish, and I had some leftovers for the next day.

Sabor perpetuates this reputation by having a nigh-perfect example of how to make this dish sing. I loved every bite of this, even at $21 for the half-chicken version of it. The service was okay--quick to answer questions and getting our food out to us in a relatively timely manner. What was nice too is Sabor didn't go the route of charging for each aji verde sauce, which I liked. When you're used to going through half-a-bottle with every polla a la brasa meal, it's very important that that wonderful concoction is ready to go when you're ready for another bite of chicken, fries, or sometimes by itself. The space is kind of limited and I really wish it had more diners coming through. But as it was it had an okay vibe to it, like you're eating at your local spot that the tourists and gawkers haven't caught up with. I think it's a prime candidate for just bringing a book to allow time for your food to digest after. I think this spot will be a new addition to the local eat rotation, especially after the Fullerton Central Library meet-ups.

I have…read moretried chimichurri sauces from Whole Foods and Trader Joe's but they aren't really very authentic. A friend recommended seeing what El Gaucho might have, so I visited the next day. The market is easy to spot with a big street sign out front. There are only two parking spots in front, one is a handicapped space. There's plenty of parking around the back though. When you walk in, you will see the main market with lots of items and brands I've never seen before. Slightly to the right is their deli counter with lots of meats, cheeses, and other miscellaneous items. To the right of the entrance is a dining area, and another counter where you can order sandwiches, empanadas, pizza, French fries, and drinks. I was laser focused on getting the chimichurri and leaving since I was short on time. It is in plastic bottles in plain view on on top of the deli counter. I purchased the regular variety, but they also have a spicy version. I could already tell this was going to be way better than the other two sauces I tried. I've had it on a steak, and on my breakfast scrambled eggs, and it's in a whole different league from the grocery versions I tried. It looks just like a restaurant chimichurri, oil based with lots of herbs and spices. I just had a nice filet mignon with chimichurri at a good Argentinan restaurant last week, and this chimichurri is about 90% as good. I moved it from the plastic bottle it comes in to a glass jar which will hopefully help preserve it longer, and store it in the refrigerator. I now have no reason to look elsewhere for chimichurri. My friend visits here periodically and says the sandwiches are excellent. I'll have to return again to try one, get more chimichurri, and explore the market and deli to see what other goodies they have.

Never had a Milanese sandwich, so no idea what to expect. To me the sandwich lacked a little flavor so used the sauce from the empanada on it. Not sure i would go out of my way to eat here but if I crave empanadas I would get the beef again.

We ordered the cerviche (Mixto Cebiche), soup (Chupa De Camarones), Arroz con Pollo, and Tallarín Verde w/ beef steak to share for two people. The mixed cerviche comes with big chunks of fresh halibut, and plenty of shrimp and octopus. The sour and tangy flavor is perfectly balanced the glazed sweet potato and Peruvian corn and corn nuts. Definitely a must-try if you like cerviche! The soup (Chupe De Camarones) has a thick and creamy (shrimp chowder) texture, with plenty of peas/carrots pieces, fried fish, and a scrambled egg on top. Very hearty and just perfectly seasoned. We ordered the regular size and the portion is plenty enough even for two people to share. The specialty courses Arroz con pollo (rice cooked with cilantro sauce with chicken) and the Tallarín Verde (pesto spaghetti/parmesan cheese with breaded beef steak) are just as delicious as all the other dishes. The pesto spaghetti is al dente, and the pesto flavor is just devine! If you like cilantro, you cannot go wrong with the Arroz con pollo. Both of these dishes come in big portions, plenty to share for two people. Good service as our waitress was very attentive. Great value considering the cost. Good atmosphere, and plenty indoor seating. Parking in front of the establishment can be crowded, but there are also plenty of parking spaces in the surrounding area. If you are craving for Peruvian food, this is the place to be! Also since this is family-owned, please come and support your local small businesses.

Friendly staff welcomed us, and asked if it was our first time, which it was. As usual, I wanted to try a variety of dishes: Trio of appetizers pequeo included fish ceviche, crispy fried squid calamari and potatoes in cheesy sauce. Trio of empanada (we got two chicken and one beef) piping hot and juicy delicious fillings , accompanied by a very spicy sauce. Tallarin verde (green sauced spaghetti) is topped by a thinly breaded steak that was cooked well done, still tender and quite tasty. Suitable for the child with us. The aji de gallina dish is served with a generous scoop of rice : sliced chicken breast in a slightly spicy huancaina cheesy sauce. Peruvian tamal was delicious and had shredded chicken in the masa. It must be cooked in a tomato sauce because it wasn't the usual yellow corn color. Would gladly come back. But be advised Airconditioning was not working and the sun was beating down hot through the glass windows. The curtains were drawn closed. It just seemed unable to block the heat at all( it's a corner spot with windows all around.
