I have been wanting to try this spot for a while so I'm glad we took a walk over from the gallery. The inside is pretty tight quarters, but for me that adds to the experience. Food and service were amazing! I ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen (my all-time fave) with medium spice & a Sapporo beer. The broth was perfect, the Chashu pork was tender and they give you the perfect amount of noodles with the option to add more, of course. The broth cleared out any congestion i had leftover from our cold front! Definitely going spicier next time I dine in. TOTAL : for my ramen & beer it was about $35 - they give the XL size for beer btw

About 9 stools where you watch the chef prepare your ramen and eat at a counter. No fuss interior and service. If you prefer a quiet meal, this place is ideal. We ordered: - Oxtail Ramen which was very unique and tasty (we picked medium seasoning). Added bokchoy. Will order again. - Tonkotsu Ramen with added enoki. Not as creamy as I'm use to but you can tell all the ingredients are very fresh. For such a rich dish, I didn't feel heavy later on that night. We usually order extra ramen but didn't have to. The proportions were spot on and enough for a hearty meal. Total tab was around $65 after tip and tax. We came in around 7pm - no wait - and within 30 mins the whole place filled up.

So imagine my disappointment when my husband and I came in and found out it was no longer on the menu. :( I feel like once restaurants expand to multiple locations, they often try to make the menu too generic to please everyone -- and it's those signature specialty items that make a place unique instead of just another run-of-the-mill spot serving the same dishes as everyone else. I miss restaurants that hold on to their uniqueness and don't need to cater to the mainstream palettes. Service was just okay. We waited a while before our waitress even came over to bring water. We came in late for a bite around 9:30pm, and there weren't many diners, so the delay was surprising. That said, one thing I've always liked about Phat Boy is their extended late-night hours. My husband ordered the miso ramen, and the broth was rich and delicious. I had the steak noodles, which I enjoyed, but it was way too salty.

We started off with the pickled cucumbers, with they offered as a gift for us visiting for the first time. Nice! One thing to note is that they bring everything to the table as soon as it's ready, which they mention up front. I wish more places did this, as your food is always nice and hot. We got the steamed chicken dumplings which were delicious. The real star of the show were the noodle dishes. We got the Singapore Mei Fun, Curry Duck Noodles, CKT (so good), and another noodle dish I can't remember. Deep, rich flavors with the perfect amount of spice. We sat outside and our server was terrific. We'll be back!

Roti Canai was great, the curry was flavorful and the roti fresh. Next up, Po Po Lo's Curry with chicken. Dish came out on the dry side, was covered in a curry paste with oil. And finally the char kway teow renamed to C.K.T. was a huge miss, immediately I knew this was going to be off. Noodles were very chewy, no charred smokey taste, lacked wok hei and flavor, had to send this one back. It was definitely not a CKT by any standards. Thai tea was great, no notes. Manager came to check in for feedback, said they were still training some new kitchen staff.

You'll have no problem finding parking as it has street parking all around and a garage that's $1.50 an hour (could be worse). The restaurant was clean and has a nice, calm vibe to it. The happy hour menu has a good selection of drinks and food. I like that it's offered everyday and at convenient times. We ordered: 1) Red Dragon and Triole Sexy ($13 per roll)- we liked it! Good presentation, simple, did not fall apart, tastes good. Price and portion was a plus 2) Salmon Carpaccio ($12)- comes with 5 pieces, topped with fried garlic and yuzu/truffle oil. I barely tasted truffle and I would think it would have came with more pieces, at least 6-8. Overall, tasted good 3) Beef short rib skewer ($9)- comes with 2 skewers of bite size pieces was underwhelming, a bit pricey. It was dry and def needed some oil and salt to make it juicy and some flavor Service was great! Sushi chefs did a great job with the rolls and apps. Do recommend for happy hour!
