Decent ramen bowl. I had the shoyu ramen, felt like it needed lots more shoyu. Ingredients were plentiful with kikurage mushrooms, bean sprouts, spinach, slice of seaweed, soft egg, fish cake, scallions, and chicken breast. The chicken breast was very plain, needing seasoning. It wouldn't soak up any broth. I ended up dipping it in the gyoza dip. Gyoza was steamed and decent as well. Overall everything seemed under spiced but tasty. What saved this visit is their spice rack with white pepper, vinegar, shoyu, and chili oil. This allows you to fine tune the dish. Ambiance is Japanese and Anime, in my opinion beautifully decorated. This review is a huge shoutout to Jessica!! She was absolutely amazing... attentive, joyful, and made the night so special for our daughter since it was her birthday. The place has been renovated and has the coolest vibes. The boys, who are huge anime fans, loved the decor! Now, the food and drinks: - Thai iced tea.. comes in the coolest glasses, great portions, and delicious. My son also got the milk tea with boba which he liked. The drinks are the same price with or without boba. - Diablo ramen- comes with fried chicken and definately has a kick! My husband, who usually doesn't love ramen, enjoyed his meal. Paired with an ice cold Asahi dry- it was delicious!!! Note: The portions are HUGE. My son and I both shared and we still had leftovers. - Tonkotsu- my go to... it was good. Liked the noodle quality. It has no spice but they have chili oil on the table which I added into my broth to add a little spice. - Apps: we got the scallion pancake (4 pieces and the kids were fighting over them), chili oil wantons (loved the flavor of the chili oil, wantons were okay), spicy garlic edamame (standard), Japanese style fries. The ramen at Fuyu is quite good. The restaurant is immaculate. I was the only one dining due to the fact that it was 98 degrees outside and no oneee wants to eat hot ramen. Friendly and quick service. I ordered Combo B which came with Ramen+Small Rice Bowl+Boba. The miso ramen was tasty. The broth was savory and I loved the fish cake and soft boiled egg. The only thing that I would change is the pork chashu which seemed to be a rolled up slice of bacon. I am used to a hearty pork roll chashu. The beef curry was excellent. The cubed beef was cooked well, so juicy, the carrots melted in my mouth, and the curry was delicious. I ordered the Jasmine milk tea and it was superb plus I really liked the cup it was put in and the cap that fit the straw perfectly. This is definitely a great lunch and dinner spot. The restaurant is very open and pleasing. If you are bored you can watch One Piece while you eat. The food was good. I had miso raman and my wife ordered curry Raman. We also had the katsu curry and kirage. Both Raman was good but it felt like it was missing a few ingredients to get the right flavor. My wife enjoyed the kirage and the katsu curry was delicious too. The pricing on all everything was very reasonable. Staff were courteous. We received are food fairly quickly too. My daughter was at a birthday party nearby, so the rest of the family decided to grab dinner here. It's tucked away by Safeway, but a real treasure. It has a fun anime/j-Pop vibe going on, and a great selection. I love ramen, and this was good ramen. My husband got the spicier bowl and that was a hit as well. Fuyu Ramen has great ramen, especially for the Southlands area which is a bit underserved. Honestly, if it were just about the food, I'd be here once a week without hesitation. That said, the service consistently holds the experience back. Every time I've visited, there's only one server working the entire dining room. He's friendly and clearly doing his best, but it's too much for one person. Orders come out slow, items get forgotten, and the flow of service is out of order. I'd love to see management add another server or two during busy times. The food deserves it, the customers would notice, and I think it could turn Fuyu from a "special treat once in a while" spot into a regular go-to for a lot more people, myself included. read more

I was sad that the pork belly was sliced in thin slices rather than chunks. The broth was also not as hot as I would have expected. However, the ramen was tasty and not too salty. I've been craving some Japanese ramen for awhile and we had to try this place when it opened up near where I live. The restaurant itself is very spacious. There are some nice wall decorations around the restaurant with One Piece on the TV and Japanese songs playing in the background. Since it was a Monday afternoon, the restaurant was empty when we walked in and we were quickly seated. We ordered karaage to start off and opted for Diablo and tonkotsu ramen. Service was very quick here, it took about 10 min to bring out everything. If you're the type to enjoy your app before getting into your entree, then I would tell the server first since everything came out all together. The karaage is served with spicy mayo. Karaage had a nice crispy layer and the inside was very juicy and tender. My gf liked her tonkotsu ramen, although she wished it was more creamy. The diablo ramen does have a nice kick to it, and it is def more creamy and heavier than the regular tonkotsu ramen. The chasu in the ramen was decent, although it was more fatty than typical ramen that we've tried elsewhere. The noodle also had a good texture made for ramen and the portion size was pretty big. Some things that they could potentially improve is the broth temperature. Idk why, but both of our ramen came out lukewarm, if I'm being generous. I'm not expecting the broth to be piping hot, but I felt very underwhelmed at first when it came out. Also the amount of toppings, especially veggies is lacking here. I guess they have options for you to add additional toppings, but for a ramen that starts off around $14-16, maybe it could have more toppings rather than compensating with bigger noodle portion. The chicken that's in the diablo was dry and flavorless, which made me crave for some other toppings more. Anyway, I'm still glad that we checked this place out. It's a new restaurant near Southlands area, and there is no good ramen place nearby so hopefully they continue to improve and master their craft here. We will definitely be back at some point to try out their other dishes. read more

New place in my hood...Tried the fried octopus and it was perfect! Whatever is in mayo dipping sauce should be illegal. Dad had the seafood ramen with perfectly cooked seafood and a great broth. Our family accidentally discovered Fuyu Ramen. We stayed at Gaylord at Rockies Resort and Spa by the Denver airport. Their Ramen House was out of pork, and we decided to find a ramen place nearby. We picked Fuyu Ramen purely based on its proximity to the hotel and being away from Downtown Denver. Were we surprised and we came back twice! The place has the look of fast food over a restaurant. However, they provide table service. I first noticed that they were playing Japanese music and Japanese movie the whole time we were there. They have combos A and B. A provides a ramen and a small rice bowl for around $19. B provides A + a boba drink for $22. Very nicely priced. We had appetizers of Takoyaki and Crab Wontons the first day. Crab Wontons were no different from other places we have tried. Takoyaki came with shredded black seaweed. Takoyakis are not served this way in Japan. They come with Aonori (blue seaweed - though green in color, and they are sprinkles instead of shredded). So I was doubtful of authenticity, but Takoyaki was amazing. Most places deep fry so that they are perfectly round when you grab them with chopsticks. While Fuyu Ramen's Takoyaki is crispy on the outside, it also gets dented as you pick it up with chopsticks, and it is runny inside. Reminded me of Gin Dako in Japan. I grew up in Japan for 20 years, and I go back to Tokyo 1-2 times a year to visit my family there. So I tend to be picky when I eat Japanese food. We all had Tonkotsu Ramen. My husband had Pork Fried Rice, and my son and I had Katsu Curry. Different boba drinks as we picked Combo B. It is unfair to compare to ramen in Japan, so I won't. However, out of ramen I have had in the US, I can say Fuyu makes it to the top 3 Tonkotsu I've had. Better than Jinya. Jinya is pretty greasy, and Fuyu has less greasy broth but is tasty. Noodles are al dente when they first come out. Pretty good portion. Chashu is very thinly sliced, tender, and seasoned right. Just like good ones you find in Japan. Ramen egg; furthermore, is absolutely comparable to that in Japan and so good. One of the best in the world. Curry is very homey like those we eat at home in Japan. Loved it. Katsu is very thin - understandable given the "small size" rice bowl to accompany ramen. It was like Hamu Katsu (Katsu made with a slice of ham). But the way it was breaded and fried was perfect. My husband's pork fried rice had Chashu, and it had a great wok flavor. Typical Japanese fried rice does not have soy sauce. I tasted a trace of it at Fuyu; otherwise, excellent. My son could not get over the dining experience, and he requested to come back after we checked out of the hotel the next day. Another great dining experience. I tried Shoyu Ramen. It was good but lacked the depth you find in Japanese shoyu broth. My son had Miso ramen. I didn't taste his broth, but he loved it and enjoyed most of it. We live about 80 miles from this place. Whenever we have a chance to come nearby, we would definitely stop by. My 16-year-old son insists that they have the best ramen in the US. He has eaten at a few ramen places as well in Colorado, Texas, and Utah. So his claim is credible. I can confidently say that they have the best Takoyaki and Ramen egg in the US, and one of the top 3 Tonkotsu in the US. read more
