SoHo is definitely one of their busier locations. I went around 3PM on a Saturday but had to put my name down on the waitlist and it took about 40 minutes before I was seated at the bar. (There's a Trader Joe's across the street so I ran some errands while waiting!) Try going as soon as it opens to avoid the long line. I normally get the Trust Me Nozawa but this time around I just got the regular Trust Me set for $50 (after tax) and I still left pretty satisfied! I believe their lunch & dinner menus are different, and it changes after 3:30PM. A tried & true staple and worth the wait. Very solo-diner friendly! I've also had Maple as my server twice now and he's lovely! Tip: Go to Sugarfish twice in a year and you'll get a free Trust Me set on your birthday if you sign up with your email! (Ask your server for details on how to sign up)

Another amazing meal at Sugarfish! Great service & very accommodating to people who are still learning about different types of sushi

Came here for a very early dinner at 5 and was able to get seated immediately without a reservation. We chose the $36 Trust Me Omakase and everything was delicious. The interior is bright and modern with good views of the entire space. Service was attentive and not too pushy. Will definitely be back!

Overall: C // 3 stars Sugarfish is a no-tipping restaurant that offers a Trust Me Omakase at a competitive $39. Despite the no-tipping, the staff are equally friendly and respectful, even moreso than the average tipping establishment, which I appreciate. As for the food, if you are looking for a light and quick meal, this could be a good spot. If you are looking for something more sophistocated or well made, this is not the place for that. (1) Edamame: lightly salted, and mundane starter. (2) Tuna: pleasantly flavored appetizer with beautifully marbled fatty tuna; unfortunately, the presentation detracts as this premium cut is just slopped onto the plate. (3) Albacore: looks fine at first glance, but the rice ball is poorly shaped such that it just disintegrates on contact; albacore is a bland fish, so it needs more support beyond just ponzu. (4) Salmon: the intended flavors come through being sesame forward, but given that the salmon quality isn't top notch, the lack of flavor development is a detriment here. (5) Toro Handroll: aside from the tuna being hidden, this handroll is actually relatively nicely made; unfortunately, the flavor profile could not be more mundane. (6) Yellowtail: the marbling of this cut is beautiful, and the light seasoning here is acceptable here. (7) Sea Bass: this one is drenched in so much soy, the rice is just impossible to eat in a civilized manner. (8) Crab Handroll: the crab is pleasantly blended with a classic mayo pairing; too bad it is hidden from sight. We got the "nozawa trust me" lunch omakase which was a really tasty spread. All the fish was so buttery and literally melted in my mouth. The quality was great. Our server was also super attentive and came back after bringing us a plate because there was a nick in one of the nigiri's and she brought another one out without us saying anything.

Came on a Thursday at 6pm for two people and were seated right away. We got the Nozawa Trust Me set, it was filling and the fish was fresh. My favorite pieces were the Bluefin Otoro and salmon. The handrolls seaweed was chewy and not very fresh so when I was eating it, it was tough to get a clean bite without the handroll falling apart. It got busier as the night went on, and while our food came out timely, no one came to refill our waters even after a good 30 minutes. Overall, with all the options of affordable omakase nowadays, not sure I'd return but glad to have checked this one off.

We tried multiple times to eat at Sugarfish and finally got to try it! It is difficult to get a seat because they don't take reservations and you can only be seated when everyone in your party is there. They do have waiting areas with seats, which is good because you need to be waiting in the restaurant. I was surprised that the restaurant is dog friendly and we saw a few cute doggos dining in! There are multiple omakase menu options ranging from the Trust me light to the Nozawa Trust me. The omakase starts with steamed edamame and then you can a variety of tuna, salmon, sea bass, sea bream, and Dungeness crab nigiri and hand rolls. As someone who loves sashimi, I wished they had more sashimi options, but in terms of the sushi the salmon nigiri was very good. My favorites after salmon was the sea bream and then the crab hand roll. The hot green tea was a great beverage to pair with the sushi items! Overall it was a good option for relatively good sushi for the price, especially for lunch.

I got to dine at the bar and redeem my birthday TrustMe today!!! (It is dine in only and no carry out - just requires you to visit Sugarfish twice the rolling year prior by filling out a little card at the end of your visit). There was a little confusion initially but I ended up really enjoying my experience - at the bar, Maple was helping me and was super kind and upbeat! It was lovely to see how all guests are treated with the same kindness and taken care of. It wasn't too busy on a Saturday right around 12:30PM, but everyone was moving with a sense of urgency and working together to make sure all the diners had their requests fulfilled. This is a very cute location and I will visit again.

This place is absolutely wonderful! Everything is fresh and beautifully prepared, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is very pleasant. A perfect spot to enjoy great sushi.

Went on a Thursday evening around 6 and they quoted an hour wait. Sugarfish is walk-in only but they will text you when your table is ready so we went to a nearby bar while we waited. It only ended up being 30 mins to get our table. The staff was very friendly and the place was cozy. Not ideal for a large group but for 2 people it was great. There are a few set menus, but I went with the Trust Me Lite. The sushi is extremely fresh and flavorful. I enjoyed everything I tried. Would definitely go back again. Also - gratuity is baked into their prices so pricing is extremely straightforward.

this is a pretty solid lunch spot, i ordered the trust me -- the standouts to me were the tuna sashimi (the ponzu and chives were so flavorful) and the seabass sushi with the yuzu ponzu, the rest of the dishes were not too impressive. the servers were very attentive and the place filled up fairly quickly on a wednesday at noon. Be warned that they do not accept apple pay, i forgot my wallet and had to provide a card number for them to manually input.

When you come to sugar fish you always know what to expect and never leave disappointed. My friend called it the "McDonald's of sushi". Not in the level of quality but in the way that every location has the same expectations and they're always met. The "nozawa trust me" menu is definitely the go to, trust me;) perfect amount of food everything is fresh and delicious and at a very fair price. They don't take tips but are very attentive to their customers and explain each dish out as it comes. Place is always packed but still feels intimate. Definitely recommend for a nice bite that's not too fancy and doesn't break the bank

I came here as a walk-in an hour before closing for their omasake. The hostess originally quoted 1.5 hr wait, so I asked if that meant I was out of luck for that night. She said it might be faster since I was a party of 1. I stayed, and took my chances, and there was a seat that opened up at the bar within 15 minutes. I originally wanted to order the more expensive omasake set, but they were out of that. Overall, I thought it was good, but not extraordinary. I guess for the price, it was worth it. If you are looking for a reasonably priced omasake experience then this place is it.

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.

The girl who brought our check wasn't exactly rude, but she seemed visibly annoyed when we asked about using Apple Pay but ended up putting the charge on my card and it felt like asking her to bring over the Apple Pay machine was somehow inconveniencing her.
