Chef Teru is super knowledgeable and an amazing chef. Overall, I had an amazing experience and would definitely come back again. We arrived a little early for our reservation, but Chef Teru and the staff were very accommodating and served us right away with appetizers and drinks. The sushi was super fresh, and Chef Teru really made the quality of the fish shine without compromising its freshness or overwhelming it. All the fish were shipped in from Japan and were selected by the Chef himself. As a result, the menu changes often, making every visit a unique experience. The place is quiet, and the music was also very fitting. Overall, this is definitely one of the top omakase places in the city.

You guys, this new spot is now the best omakase in the city. All their fish is from the legendary Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo... Tokyo's best, brought straight to Hudson Street. Outrageous! Only one fish is from the US (the toro is from Boston) and that was sensational, too. We came here for my fiancé's birthday, and from beginning to end, it was such a special meal. Outdoor seating is enclosed with toasty heaters. Everyone treats you here with such respect and care... divine. What makes it great? The sushi chef is incredibly picky about the quality of the fish that's flown to him from Japan, so customers only get the best cuts. He won't even serve the fish to anyone if it's not up to his standard. We got the uni taster, a carafe of sake, and the Omakase menu C, but we added the chef's favorite seasonal fish to our dinner - the oily and seared rosy sea bass - which was superb! From the miso soup to the crunchy salmon skin hand roll to the matcha coconut custard, I can't rave enough. So happy they're here. Welcome to the neighborhood! 5 stars!!!!!!

Hands down, the best sushi I've ever had! Since 2019, I'd been saving religiously for a trip to Japan in April of this year. Unfortunately, plans had to be postponed due to COVID-19. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ But with last night's belated Valentine's Day dinner with the love of my life in NYC prepared by Chef Kou with fish imported from the legendary Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo (!!!!!), it felt and tasted like my dream had came true. ⁣⁣ We splurged and made a $200/person omakase reservation for 2 on resy.com about 3 weeks ago. The $200 omakase consists of 4 appetizers, 9 pieces of nigiri, one hand roll, and one dessert. Everything was EXCEPTIONAL and so incredibly FRESH. Even the clear soup, which I would've thought would be the least favorite of what we were served, was delicious. I honestly can't even choose a least favorite because they were all outstanding! The nodoguro, a fish I'd never heard of or eaten before, has now become my favorite and it's not sold in grocery stores or found in non-boujee sushi restaurants. Of course ⁣⁣:( But I loved it so much that I bought an additional nodoguro nigiri for $18 a la carte before we were served our desserts. My boyfriend also bought an additional uni nigiri for the same cost. Service was also incredible, A+++. Chef Kou and our waiter were extremely friendly and knowledgeable and even showed us pictures of the fish we were unfamiliar with on an iPad. Watching Chef Kou prepare our food was mesmerizing. A real work of art and finesse. ⁣⁣ I still look forward to making use of that Japan itinerary one day, but until then, dinner at Sushi Teru has me on cloud 9! We'll definitely be back.

Omakase dessert, check out my gold flake!!!

Omakase and a la carte was so great. The fish was extremely fresh and I loved how they taught us what each fish was and where it came from and any specifics about it that made it unique. You could definitely tell it was FRESH!!! Can't beat the price for this type of food. The staff was really polite and made sure everything was perfect! I will definitely be back and recommend you check this place out. The dessert that comes with the omakase was had a green tea flavor with a gold flake. Definitely made you feel extra!

Uni tasting! Highly recommend

Loved this place! Very fresh fish. The scallop was probably my favorite followed closely by the different types of lean, medium, and fatty tuna they had - they were all so good! The clear soup didn't look like much but it was amazing - some of the most flavorful broth I have ever had. Also loved the uni tasting. Will definitely have to return!

The omakase here is amazing!! You have to visit this place. Chef took us through each dish. Wonderful experience!

You can never go wrong with Hokaido Uni & Seared Tuna Belly with Caviar!!

Relaxing and warm ambience. Servers were very friendly and explained our dishes very well. The omakase is completely amazing! You would never imagine that so many different pieces could taste so good. More often than not, Teru San (the chef) will offer some seasonal fish or even wagyu that fresh delivered from japan. You get what you pay for, would definitely come back here

This new Omakase restaurant in the West Village is an absolute delight and a must-visit for the neighborhood residents and beyond! With Edo-style Omakase, the quality and taste of each bite really comes through. The owners are natives of Saitama and Osaka in Japan, and truly know their stuff! Each course had the perfect textures and flavors to compliment one another while also serving as a stand-alone morsel. Shout out to the coconut match pudding dessert with a blueberry and gold leaf -- absolutely INCREDIBLE. If you're unsure of coming, this is you're wake-up call!!!

Monk fish in its best dress! Beautiful!

Sushi Teru, the finest omakase opened two years ago during pandemic so it's still sort of hidden yet I wanted to go and give it a try as an omakase lover. Just like the way I appreciate sushi and sashimi, the omakase was in edomae style of authentic and traditional practice. Chef Teru explained each course by himself with the sincere hospitality throughout the course. Rare and fine cuts directly from Japan. Best nights to dine here are certainly Tuesdays and Wednesdays as most fishes arrive oh Tuesday and Chef Teru has little more room to engage with the diners. Definitely coming back with my omakase advocate friends! Thanks Chef Teru!

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.

They share a takeout menu and it's super easy to order--text what you want to the phone number on the website and pickup in ~20 minutes :). You pay on a handheld and they don't ask for tip for takeout. I love this process and truly wish more sushi restaurants in LA adopt the takeout box. The only one I know of is hefty but also $200 each lol, making Sanyuu's $69 omakase and $78 Everything don, not to mention the $30 giant salmon nigiri set, A STEAL! I enjoyed most of the pieces but I will say I don't like their amaebi or uni at all. I'm not sure what kind of uni is used here but it's the type with a very strong mineral flavor & aftertaste that I don't find enjoyable. We're spoiled by easy access to live spot prawns everywhere and fresh SB uni. Despite this, I wouldn't hesitate to come back if I lived in the city.

The slices aren't thin, delicate, and melt-in-your-mouth as one usually gets in a sit down; they are extra thick, and I had to really bite down on some of the pieces. The rice was nicely seasoned and was cooked well + portions are also big to match those thiccccc salmon slices. To be honest, I was getting a little nauseated after 5 pieces, haha~ They were definitely delicious but I'd probably just eat 3 or 4 pieces and share with a friend! It was easy to text the number on the website and coordinate a pickup time, and the staff was friendly when I arrived. The restaurant is a little hard to find as the windows are blinded and the sign is a piece of paper on the door.
