I have been here a handful of times and this place, like any others, has its pros and cons. Pros- super convenient! The place is large with lots of availability, so it's very easy to get an appt, even last minute. Parking is easy and location is convenient. For those of us who don't want to make an appt weeks in advance and drive to the beach cities, it's a really good option. Place is clean and decor is simple, so you feel comfortable and calm. Many of my sugaring services have been very well done. Cons- like any place where there are many estheticians, quality is going to vary. Though most of my services have been great, I also had the most painful Brazilian here once, with an esthetician who was incredibly aggressive and finished what was supposed to be a 20 min service in 10. It was then that I realized that unlike some other places, they don't give you an option to choose who you want your service with. The girls don't introduce themselves before starting, it's a "get who you get" type of deal. When you are checking out, they tell you that they added an 18% tip and ask if that is okay. This doesn't sit well with me. A tip should be something you opt into, not something you opt out of. I always tip and have never opted out (not even when my service was rushed to take half the allotted time), but I hope they are not underpaying the girls working there in hopes they can get away with it with essentially forced tips. LONG time shaver - like over 25 years. First time seeking professional services for something so intimate. Yep. I'm talking Brazilian here. About 5 months ago I got a home waxing system. I had no idea how difficult it would be to inflict pain on yourself. One and done. Never again! After a friend convinced me to give Sugaring a try (versus hard or soft wax), I began searching the internet for salons near me with positive reviews. Let's face it, the experiences others have in certain things matters! I came across S & B (Irvine Location). They had solid reviews, some that spoke to the service I was looking for as a "first timer". Let's be honest, it's about the embarrassment factor more than the pain. Am I right? So being made comfortable was a top priority. THE EXPERIENCE: Started with an appointment made online, set up an account, opted to put in payment info ahead of time and off I went. I was promptly greeted the minute I came in. Place was warm and inviting with soft colors, beachy vibe. I was escorted to a room and my technician HAILEY gave me the run-down. I had already mentioned I was a first timer and nervous! Folded up my clothes, positioned myself on my back on the table, and covered with the towel provided (there was also a towelette to freshen up, very sanitary). She came back in and asked me to "butterfly" (I didn't know what that was and she was happy to explain). She spoke calmly to me throughout the process, offering encouragement, praise, and telling me when to take a deep breath. She offered a hand towel for me to hold on to, which I gladly accepted, holding it as tight as I could in my clenched fists - dabbing sweat from my face during those more sensitive spots. I asked questions about the sugar ball since I really had no clue what it was and my frame of reference was strips of wax or cloth that look like caterpillars after each pull. That is not the case here. She sprinkled powder a few times before applying the sugar, I'm pretty sure powder sticks to the skin but not the hair so there is less pulling on the skin when the sugar is pulled up. Honestly, it was not the worst pain I've experienced. I definitely built up anxiety in my head. There were areas of "YOWZA" and Hailey noted that some people "slam their legs shut" (because you're in that butterfly position). The fact that I didn't do that made me feel pretty good - "Ya I can do this" was my inner mantra. Knees up for the finishing touches and "backside" - that part was painless. She asked if she could apply witch hazel and tea tree to soothe the skin. And that was it. The End. Honestly, I think it took 17 minutes start to finish. PREP & BEYOND: I hadn't shaved for 3 weeks and some of the hairs were too short for the sugar to grab. I tweezed those when I got home (were talking maybe 10 hairs. Results will vary based on your hair-growth cycle.) There is an 18% gratuity added to the service, which I was told at time of check-out and I upped it to 20% because service warranted it. Paperless. No pressure to purchase a package or join a membership. There will be no photos posted. You'll just have to take my word for the positive end result. Funny story on how I realized that spray tans are legit GOOD! I have only done a spray tan once before, and so I don't really know the colors very well. I ended up going with the recommended color, but it was too dark for my liking. I was invited to a brunch the next day, and so I didn't want to risk it. So, I got home within 20 minutes and I scrubbed my body 5 times, and then I used a body wash with a sponge, and then I scrubbed again twice, and once again with body wash and a sponge, and lastly with just body wash. I practically finished my body scrub trying to get the tan off. The next day I was getting dressed and I noticed the tan still developed slightly even with only 20 minutes on!! If you need a good tan I recommend this place! read more

I sooo badly wanted to love sugaring but it turned into a nightmare. The studio itself is really nice and the staff is all very friendly. I went in to get my face sugared and right after my service everything was fine. However, that evening my face broke into hives and the next morning I woke up with the most horrible breakouts all over my face. My skin was pretty clear before, even the girl who did my sugaring commented on it. It has been days since my service and I'm still dealing with this horrible reaction. I don't even want to leave my house because it is so embarrassing and upsetting. I know everyone's skin is different and just because this happened to me doesn't mean it will happen to everyone. But I wish I knew this was a possibility because then I probably wouldn't have risked it.
