She was told that a new California law requires a 20% tip to be added when paying with a card, and there was also an additional $3.50 charge for debit card users. Had we known about these fees beforehand, we would have brought cash. Based on my understanding, the explanation regarding the mandatory 20% tip did not seem accurate. I am happy to leave a generous tip when service is exceptional, but I do not believe customers should be required to pay a 20% gratuity, especially when they are dissatisfied with the quality of the service they received. While this visit was disappointing, I want to acknowledge that previous experiences here have been very positive. I hope management addresses these concerns to ensure future customers have a better experience.

If you go a little after 10 AM (when they open), there will be fewer people. After you go inside, you write your name and the service you want on a paper at the front desk, and then they will call you to a chair. At the end, you pay and can leave a tip.
