The crust was bland--tasted like eating straight flour, no butteriness or anything. Italian sodas are all ice, then commercial syrups at a too sweet ratio. Peanut butter cookies and butter cookies lacked flavor but were okay. The terrible: Why I finally wrote a review: Moonside has a stack of chocolate chip cookies in one of their pastry cases. They look beautiful! Packed with chocolate chips, golden and glistening like the perfect chewy, slightly underbaked cookie. We bought two! And they were the WORST chocolate chip cookies I have ever encountered. I ended up spitting out my second bite and just throwing them away--not even dipping them in coffee or tea could salvage the experience. I don't know WHY they look shiny and doughy--maybe an egg wash, though why would you egg wash cookies????--but they are dry as a bone. Not crispy, not crunchy--horribly textured, DRY. There's no butteriness, no hint of salt, no carmelization from brown sugar, nothing to give this cookie flavor in the least except the chocolate. And the chocolate was horrible--bitter and waxy, dried out and cheap tasting. A chips ahoy cookie would have been better. I don't know if I'll ever buy another cookie here--this was rough.

Her cakes are so fresh, light, and flavorful. She only uses fresh ingredients. She uses Real butter in her buttercream frosting, not shortening. Once you have real buttercream you can't have the 'other' stuff. Maggie's buttercream is sooo smooth and creamy and just simply melts in your mouth. We chose the coconut cake with passion fruit buttercream filling and lemon cake with raspberry filling. She only charges an extra $50 for two flavors, awesome. The lightness and light sweetness of her cakes was the perfect match to our Chinese banquet. Her pricing is also very very affordable. She tells you exactly what you need based on your guest count and what cake design you were thinking of using. She is not opposed to using sheet cakes to cut the cost down also. When our wedding day came, our cake looked perfect. I only gave her a picture to follow and the cake looked just like the pictures with a little bit of changes because we wanted to use real flowers. (I've included a picture of the cake.) Maggie was the best and we have received multiple multiple compliments on our wedding cake. Pros: + Our lemon-cake with raspberry-filling tasted good. + She makes her own fondant, so it actually tastes decent. + She set-up and decorated the cake on time. + Maggie is very sweet. + She worked within our limited budget ($455 for our cake and delivery). Cons: -Maggie works another job, and this is her side-business. She was often slow at answering e-mails (3-4 day turn around), which can be frustrating during the wedding-planning process. - We went down an unconventional route and did not hire a florist for our wedding. I think Maggie is used to working directly with florists when decorating a cake, so it was a bit challenging to communicate about what would be appropriate flowers for us to buy. If you're interested, I'd set up an appointment with Maggie to meet her and try her samples.

It's crazy to open a gelato shop somewhere so cold and gloomy and its a testament to how good their gelato is. Parking is in the DT area of HMB so it can be challenging to get a spot. There is plenty of seating outside and the interior has a bright orange wall that has the colors also carry over to the chairs that are outside. Inside is small but ifs perfect for getting your gelato and then moving outside to eat. Vanilla Bean: Much more deep in vanilla flavor than grovery store ice cream. Nice texture and color, my wife and I enjoyed this one. Stracciatella: A variety of gelato with fine strands of drizzled chocolate stirred throughout. Great eye appeal and flavor, good quality chocolate was used.

Starting off with homemade - it's clear that the owner of Gulino takes care and pride in his gelatos. I got the belgian chocolate and stracciatella. The belgian chocolate was out of this world - definitley a must try. I had a bite of the fruity flavors from family but I would say chocolate is the best choice (and i'm not usually a chocolatey person).
