If I could give this place ten stars, I would. I was shocked it has not been added to Yelp yet, too. I read about it various other review sites and travel guides, but that did not prepare us for how great this relatively new spot is. We were not happy with breakfast options in the inn where we were staying, so we drove up the hill to try out Sugar and Dice. As soon as you walk in, you can tell just how much effort went into the interior design. This place is beautiful in the dining room, and they have a small outdoor patio seating area out front. The pastry display case will stop you in your tracks, too. Our first visit was to grab a breakfast the day we were checking out of Corner Brook and heading south. I got the breakfast sandwich on a house-made cheddar and chive biscuit, and it was probably on of the top breakfasts I had on this trip. The coffee was top notch, too. After breakfast, we grabbed several pastry items to go. That included the cookies, which were superb. My wife loved the Newfoundland island-shaped shortbread cookies.
This spot was so good, we marked it for return as we came back through Corner Brook on our way out for the last night before flying home. We had a lunch here, which was just as good as the breakfast. On the second stop, we split a sandwich and felt like we had enough room to take on that bakeapple croissant. Good grief, that thing was otherworldly. Light as a feather flaky croissant filled with a whipped cream and baked apples. I think I may have lost consciousness at some point eating half that thing. So good. Of course, we took even more cookies with us to go. Some of those made it intact all the way back home to NC to be handed out as gifts.
This is a new business add, so I do not have the option to add photos. I'll try to go back and do that after the place shows up. read more
