I have been a customer of Suffern Nails since they opened the business Over 15 years ago. I was formerly with their predecessor. The first time I met the owner, Kathy, she has treated me like family. Although I do not have weekly manicures or pedicures as I am retired, I am treated the same as any steady weekly customer. No idea how this place has such high reviews. Horrible cheap products and negative signs up all over the location. You are greeted with nasty signs all over the place that indicate that you must tip them a certain amount as well as giving you examples of what not to tip and how much to tip. Also that you will be charged a fee for being a customer if it's been over a month of service. If that doesn't turn you off, and what did it for me, is that their products are incredibly low quality. I had a gel manicure for 2 days and they began chipping. By the end of the week my nails looked terrible with all chipped polish. Never again. read more

The people within this venue are all filled with a nice welcoming spirit. When I walked into the nail salon the owner greeted me as soon as I came in. I felt valued and important. I did a powder acrylic manicure and a regular pedicure. I have not had a powder acrylic manicure before but it was cool. It's actually easier on the nail. I would definitely try it again. The lady who did my hands was very attentive. She was constantly checking to make sure that my nails were perfect. The pedicure felt amazing. It was so thorough. This visit was me first and it was wonderful! The woman who took the appointment was so lovely and even called to say an appointment cancelled and I could come sooner. Most salons don't go through that effort I find. The technician doing my pedicure spent SO long exfoliating and massaging me-- it was so amazing. She spent about 20 minutes just doing that! The place isn't overly aesthetically pleasing and is very plain with fluorescent lighting, but it was such a great experience for the money ($30) that I didn't mind! They were clean and abided by all the CDC guidelines which is to be expected so I don't hold any of those limitations against them. It was a great experience, I will definitely go back!! A little conflicted about this place. I came here because I started work in an hour and I wanted a place that was close for me to do my nails. The first nail place I saw was Suffern Nails! The wait wasn't long which was great but my big issue is with the pricing. There are so many other nail salons in Rockland that are much, much cheaper than this place. $45 for tips, not even gel, is a bit much. I usually get my nails done for $27. Major difference, right? The way they put the powder on the nails is too time consuming. Other nail salons I've been to were pretty fast and my nails would always look great.. But this specific nail salon did too much for mediocre work. Not to mention, I was late for work because she kept filing my nails, put some powder, file, put the oil, and then file again. So much nail filing and drilling and that gave me major anxiety because I don't want damaged nails. Would I come back? No. There are better nail salons than this one. read more

I've been coming here for years but now they have a new owner and it's better than ever!!!! This place really cares about their customers. They do a lot of extra things when you get a pedicure! The new owner has made many positive changes but the best one is the pedicure. They include extras that the other nail salons have additional fees for such as hot stones & honey. Honestly not worth it. Just like others, I don't know how this place has high ratings. I went today for a late minute Mani-Pedi. The lady greeted me when I came in and told me to go pick a color. Not one person said anything about certain colors or brands being an extra free so when I decided to pick a plain white by Essie brand I was surprised when I sat down and last minute the new lady doing my nails stated that it's $5 extra just because. I figured okay... maybe because it's Essie and COVID has prices and supplies limited? Okay no problem whatever. I decided after that if I was going to pay extra just because of that, I was better off with a French Mani-Pedi. When she finally finished my nails, some of them looked UGLY. First off, I arrived at 5:30 so of course maybe they rushed my manicure. To me, I don't care as long as it's done right BUT nope, they did a really crappy job. I was upset because I told the employees I was fine just doing a manicure because we were short on time to closing. It wasn't a big deal and it's not like I had an appointment so I understood and was set on just the manicure BUT NOPE on top of the $5 fee for a specific nail color, in the MIDDLE of her doing my manicure, she stated that it if I paid $55 right now she would be able to do my pedicure. As if that wasn't weird already, I said okay and she literally made me pay my amount in the middle of her about to put lotion on my hands. Don't know if it was because she maybe thought I didn't have the money for it or if she just wanted to be money hungry but wtf. You couldn't at least finish my nails first? I didn't see anyone else paying in the middle of their session. AFTER, because I wasn't satisfied with my nails and because I felt rushed, I decided to just do white for my toes because I was the last one there and it was already closing while my lady was just then applying lotion to my feet. All I can say is, at least they didn't fuck up my toes (then again that's a basic white polish pedicure. Wouldn't understand how someone is working there if they couldn't at least do that right). I was annoyed and the rude lady who did my nails had already charged me for a French Mani-Pedi so it's not like I got my few extra bucks back from opting to doing a regular pedicure. To top it off, I still had to give tip and those signs they have about how much to tip and etc, is just ridiculous. Some of the signs even contradict themselves. One of them will say we accept Discover and the moment I handed her my Discover Credit card, she goes no and that they aren't taking that bank right now and then you have a sign a couple of feet away saying they don't as if there aren't 5 saying they do. After 2-3 years of going to the same nail place I decided to try Suffern Nails. Easy to get to, good parking and the reviews on yelp looked good. They did a really nice job on my nails. I paid $30- for the nail polish gel. They say if it chips or peels they will fix it free of charge. So far so good. Though I usually never have a problem. Absolutely horrible. I came here with my mother. I should have never cheated on my usual nail tech by my house. First off, they she took forever, over filed, and hurt me. She answered the phone 3 times through my manicure which had me waiting for her to work. Gel application was horrific and then had tons of ripples. I would've never tipped but my mother is too nice of a woman. Some lifted within a few days and I had to get them redone within a week. Absolutely horrible the whole experience and tacky postings about surcharges. And gross. You should never reuse files. Even my usual nail tech said they did a horrific job and have no business doing nails. Complete waste of time and money. Never go here read more

Gel fill in broke not even a week after getting done. They told me that if I had a problem they would fix no problem. Actually made an appointment ran late and they refused to fix. Had an event that evening and had broken nail not happy. They turned me away told me to come back another day. Have been doing my nails for 20 years my nails usually last 3-4 weeks. Tried them because I won a gift certificate at a fair. Went back they had to put a tip on because I had to cut the nail down so I didn't scratch a child. Now not even three days later. The tip cracked in half and again had to cut down. I was charged the last time I went because they couldn't match the nail polish so I had to match it with new polish which they just slapped on over the existing polish. read more

I scheduled the appt this morning and they had availability for 12:30. I was in and out in a little over an hour, only because my nails are pretty long. Got a pedicure and gel mani and i am very happy with the service the pedicure was AMAZING! Adriana took her time and was gentle, you get to pick from a variety of 4 different feet soak soap scents, they scrub, massage and use hot stones at no extra cost. I was truly satisfied with the pedicure and the gel mani was good but not as special as the pedicure definitely will be going back. First off the owner (Kathy?) is a very sweet and friendly woman. She always has a smile for everyone who walks through the door and remembers all her regulars. I only come for pedicures and I've never been disappointed. They do a fine job of shaping the nail, colors are beautiful and they give a nice massage. The pedicurists are quiet but I like to zone out so I don't mind. They get busy on weekends so call ahead for an appointment, don't rely on a walk in as you will usually have to come back later. read more

I went in on my lunch break right before vacation. I had only an hour to spare and I had gone to another salon the day before for my manicure. So all I really needed was a pedicure and I was hoping this place would be less crowded. I was helped right away, and I have to say I am torn. The girl who did my pedicure was very easily distracted. Any time she's hear others speaking she would look that way and stop what she was doing with me. She was extremely serious and I didn't get so much as a smile. Also the woman next to me started getting her pedicure after me and finished before. The quality meaning the way my pedicure looked was average. However, there were others in the salon that were very nice and helpful. Also when it comes to massaging and treating your feet and legs they really take their time and do a great job. I have yet to get my manicures here but this is my go-to spot for pedicures. It's 5 minutes away from where I live so it's super convenient for me. They can get pretty busy so I always call a couple of hours ahead of time to make an appointment, I rarely just walk-in but they can always squeeze me in when I call short notice. Upon arrival I've never had to wait much longer than 5 minutes to be seated. I love the length of the pedicures, they take their time, they aren't rushed, and they give you options of what type of scent you'd like. The one thing I love most is that their pedicures last AGES! I got my toes done I think about a month ago now and my little piggies are still perfectly painted. I don't know why they stay so well but they always do! I used to love suffern nails until 4 of my nails chipped and by the end of the first week my nail was coming loose and the acrylic was peeling off ! I went here about 7 years ago and wasn't interested. I came back under the new management a year ago and it's been awesome. Pedicures are long and relaxing and clean. Christina is one of my favorites. The job they do on my gel nails has been fabulous. I work hard with my hands often in restaurants and anything I seem damage they make good on which hardly happens. But when it does it's nice to know they stand by their work. I find them very accommodating and reasonable. read more

Word to the wise ask,ask, ask, about prices if your a first time customer , take it from me.....I walked out of there minus one hundred fifty five dollars for a fill and a full set for a friend of mine, simply because we did not ask and they volunteered nothing until it was time to pay up!!! The real kicker here is that thefull set were gels and within only one week of application ,three fell off and we originally asked for gel overlay!!!!, not gel which is typically supposed to be the best nail!!!! This salon came highly recommended. It was not worth the money - at all. One woman started my pedicure then was told to clean up while another woman took over the pedicure. When it came time for the manicure, a totally different woman cut my nails too short and appear irritated that she worked quickly and poorly.
