This was our first time visiting Sud's Pub. The service was very good. However, the food was terrible. A dozen of chicken wings were $18 and they were not cooked properly. My hamburger was raw. I sent the hamburger back and they brought another undercooked hamburger. My wife ordered chicken Parmesan. The sauce tasted like it came out of a can. The server was courteous and removed the burger from the bill. While walking to our car, the kitchen staff were outside smoking cigarettes. Management needs to address the kitchen staff deficiencies. We will not be going there again. read more

We were here for Christmas Eve and our waitress ( to bad didn't catch her name, but I think she is one of the locals) was extremely nice and helpful and our fiend who was visiting us from Russia got a special "welcome shot";) Blackened Salmon actually was one of the best I ever tried! A great place to have a drink and food while listening to very good music. I've been in there several times and have never been disappointed. The quesadillas are really good and the serving size is large. Possibly enough for two. The owner, Bobby is a gracious host with a good knowledge of local and regional musicians. What a nice place...we stopped on our way thru town heading home on a road trip. The bartender/waiter was a very pleasant fellow. My wife enjoyed the lobster roll and ate the whole thing - unusual for her. I had the pulled pork BBQ and it was decent. The fries were crisp - what more could you ask? read more

Sarah at Suds pub was amazing! I have a lot of food allergies and she made me feel comfortable with the food choices that Suds offered. My dad and I were on a ski trip and since we don't spend much time together we wanted to get a picture of us eating the great food. There were some HARD pluses and minuses for this place. PLUS- awesome live music, really friendly/fun atmosphere, nice beer selection ($4 on tap), delicious mussels appetizer ($11) CONS- pretty dang greasy food, undercooked burger ($10) I would definitely come here again. Stopped by Sud's while passing through Bethel on the way home after a weekend of camping. The place was cozy, and perfect for a quick meal before getting back on the road. I ordered a salad and received a HUGE dish - enough for me to share with my boyfriend in exchange for some of his fish and chips. The fish had an interesting breading, very flavorful. They had a small stage, I would imagine they cater to local music acts. It probably gets more crowded in the evenings. Our server - I think his name was Eric - was very nice. read more

Parking is in the back. Food is good and clean (no junk added, no grease). Went there for lunch with my husband and 2 young kids. The kids shared a fish and chip. The fish was breaded and flavored (not the usual battered fish which was expected but still good). The French fries were not good. They taste like the frozen kind you buy in the grocery store freezer. I had the chicken quesadilla. It was decent and came with nacho chips, salsa and as our cream. My husband had the bison burger, it was good. Nothing special but decent, non-greasy food and the waitress was very nice. No warm welcome when you walk in though...no hostess and I'm still unsure if you are to seat yourself or not. It takes several minutes for the staff to take notice of new customers. Solid dive-y bar in Bethel, ME. It was relatively empty on the Sunday afternoon that we arrived, aside from some local bar-flys. I assume that this area is bangin in the Winter, but the town seemed somewhat dead during the Summer. They have a decent amount of draft beers, offering up a lot of local and regional brews. I had a local IPA and later on, a pretty potent Dark and Stormy. They were both very tasty. The menu is pretty large and includes lots of burgers, soups, salads, and entrees. They have a specials board that offers fresh sandwiches and entrees not offered on the regular menu. I had a pretty awesome bison burger with goat cheese and a side of bbq sauce. It was juicy and delicious. This was a post hike meal so I cleaned my plate of every crumb, including the pickle and delicious fries. It was satisfying and cost about 15$ since it was a specialty burger. Service was good and our group all enjoyed their meals and drinks. I'd be interested in seeing this place come Winter-time. read more

Ok folks. Waitress was extremely nice friendly and talkative. Decent beer selection including a gluten free beer. Here is where things start to diverge. Ordered wings for app. They were ok but we have had meatier. Perhaps that is why they gave us 8 instead of the 6 as indicated on menu. Other than that they were tasty but no carrot or celery sticks on side Now to the food. I ordered the Blarney Burger and wife had Bison Burger. We both ordered medium rare. Mine was on thin side and ended up as medium. Hers was thicker and was medium rare so maybe they need to make the speciality burgers thicker to get medium rare???? read more

Bethel is a quaint New England town with something to explore any season. Below the Sudbury Inn you'll find a comfortable space where locals and tourists alike mingle. There are 20+ beers on tap with a heavy weighting on the local offerings. I always thought it interesting that the bar is actually seated lower than the tables around it. Usually you'd see this to be the opposite. Just a side note. We spent some time here while staying at the Sudbury Inn upstairs. While the waitstaff was friendly the service was often slow. They seemed to be overwhelmed. Our first day here I noticed that the glasses were being placed on a bottle brush in one sink then rinsed in a second sink. This process took roughly 10 seconds per glass. The glasses were then dried and reused. Both sinks appeared to have dirty water. After seeing this I avoided the 29 beers on tap and switched to the limited bottle selection. If that's how they sanitize glassware I am terrified to think of when the taps were cleaned last. Hello Bar Rescue? Ironically, half of the 26 people in our party went down with a stomach bug during our trip. The other reason for my 2 stars is that they double charged us on one tab. I paid it off and then my friend paid it off. The staff knowingly took the money a second time. That's shady business. Food was OK. Chili has apparently won awards but I got the stomach bug the next day so who knows. Nachos were a little weak and should have had more "stuff" on them. I will not go here again. I wouldn't have been a repeat customer if I wasn't a guest upstairs in sub zero temps. Our options were limited. read more

My daughter has celiac which I was very clear about along with asking what GF choices were on the menu. We resulted in a suggestion of kids size steak tips cooked perfect but when I tasted them there was a hint of teriyaki. Yikes so I asked the waiter to ask the chef what they are marinated in and yes teriyaki but unsure if GF. Needless to say they weren't and my daughter dealt with the repercussions for a couple day. I get it you always take the chance of contamination but this one could have been avoided with a trained wait and cooking staff. read more

The wood fired pizza is unbelievable. Being from Jersey, I was very skeptical of ordering pizza in Maine. I must say I was happy I did. As a thicker crust kinda girl, their pizza crust is insane! It's crunchy on the outside, but the inside is soft and doughy. The bottom crust is perfectly crispy. I recommend getting there early, so you can sit at the bar and have a beer while you wait... great selections! read more

My wife and I went here per a local rec combined with looking at Yelp. The place is pretty boring inside but not a bad a setup and still good for kids. The clientele is varied but one thing that really irked me was a patron talking about how he hates Canadians loudly because I was wearing a Montreal Canadians t-shirt. First off, I'm not Canadian, second, it's a sports team, get over it. So with that behind me, the buffalo burger was highly recommended but not very good. It tasted burned and didn't have much flavor. My wife had fish and chips and it was much better. I had a few beers which were tasty if a little over priced. I'm not sure I would go back but I won't be in the area again most likely but there are probably better choices. read more

Complete shock when we walked into this place. Everything else in town was closed. We walked up and it looked like a hole in the wall bar. Once we walked down we were quite surprised that it was a large room with a good crowd and live music. They had an excellent craft beer menu including switchback (favorite beer ever, from Vermont). The food was also excellent. I had steak tips with onions, peppers and mushrooms. Cooked great and very flavorful. Girlfriend had a burrito that she said was also excellent. We had a very nice waitress. Did I mention that we received this great service at 10pm? Highly recommend for anybody in bethel or at Sunday River. read more

So the place is located in basement of a Inn. Would think be decent fair enough food. Yeah well not really. It's about the level of a dive bar food or a cheap diner. Greasy and has that freezer burn taste to it. Asked if things where fresh or just your basic Sysco type fair. And was told no everything is fresh and great. Yeah was the level of cafeteria food. Giving it 2 Stars merely for the fact it actually is open past 9 during the tourist season. read more

Sud's is a little hole-in-the-wall sports bar. It was good for what it was. To be expected bar food, nothing crazy. Really awesome retro, ski-themed decor was a nice touch. Pretty small, seat yourself system so call ahead if you have a larger group. Great beer selection and a nice mix of American comfort food and traditional bar fare. We rented out the basement of Sud's Pub and had a huge party there. We had an incredible time and are very grateful to Sud's for making it possible. The best part is the atmosphere. It's a very calm and quaint pub, the kind I can imagine drinking at all the time. The people were just as friendly as everyone else I met in Maine. We had some of the best bartenders ever. The quaint pub vibe can turn boisterous quick with the karaoke and stage set up they had. The food is pretty good. We had burgers, nachos, pizzas, and so forth. Everyone seemed to agree that the food was pretty good but not unbelievable. The great aspects of this bar revolve around the drinks, the atmosphere, and the people. Respect. read more

The family has been going for many years and always finds it to be one of the best in Bethel. Ambiance is not a big factor as it's in the basement, but the food is excellent. We normally get nachos and at least one other appetizer and then everyone gets an entree plus a large Hawaiian pizza that we take most of it home as leftovers. Don't believe we have ever had a bad dish and the beer list keeps getting better. We've been taking our kids since they were in preschool. Great place! read more

Have been stoping by this pace for years whenever I am in town. Great pizza and good food, atmosphere and service! A lovely small town pub which is frequented by locals and tourists alike. Have been in both winter and summer and is far busier in the winter however on Tuesdays ($5 one topping small pizza night) it is hopping even during the summer months! We had lunch at Sud's one day when it was too windy to ski. It has a nice cozy atmosphere with picnic tables for the large groups. I had the bison burger and boy was it tasty. I was worried that it might be dry since bison is lean, but it was very moist and delicious and cooked just right at medium rare. The fries that came with it were really good too. I also got to try some of the pizza. It was good too, but if I go back, I will be getting another bison burger! read more

Stopped in here for a lunch break from XC skiing. It definitely has a pub/dive bar feel to it, but the food was awesome! There were some families with kids in the dining section and the bar was busy for lunch. The French Onion Soup was delicious (some of the best I've had) and warmed me right up. Pulled pork sandwich was also very good. The bar tender was nice and gave us a few pointers for the XC ski trails we were hitting. read more

I loved this hole in the wall! Believe it or not it was too icy to ski so we wandered around town until we stumbled into Suds Pub for lunch. They have a few TVs which is great for the man to watch the game and they had a pretty basic but enough to make us happy menu - along with a wall full of beers on tap! 29 beers on tap to be exact! Very nice bar with a great vibe, attentive service and a nice pub menu. The veggie burger with sweet potato fries was terrific. They make a very generous salad with some surprising fresh ingredients given that it is February, 17 degrees and is located in the boonies. I would have given this a few more stars except for the bartender being completely rude and sarcastic to me when I asked for an itemized tip. You would think when you come in with a group of 10 in the off season, you would be treated a little nicer. I normally tip 20% on everything I buy as my husband is a bartender. I went there last time on my trip to Sunday River. It was a short walk from where I stayed in town. Walking in, it's a casual feeling, decorated with various ski posters throughout the years. The dish that really amazed me was the mussels. They're made in a garlic-y lemon-y sauce that was something I could just drink by itself and I pretty much did after the mussels were gone. I will def order this dish again. For the rest of our meal, I had the french onion soup and the bison burger. The both were good, but I gotta say my favorite was the mussels and specifically the sauce it was made in. Our server was nice, and there wasn't a long wait for the dishes. We did go kind of early and it was a Friday night, so I suspect it would be busier on Saturdays. read more

Sud's pub for lunch is definitely a place that's quiet and has a very chillaxed ambience. The service is prompt. Had a glass of Remy Martin from the bar and my friend had a cup of coffee with Kahlua and whipped cream, which also tasted nice! The wings with volcanic sauce is yes, pretty hot!! The blackened salmon was alright but the accompanying rice was pretty good. A recommended item from the menu is the bison burger! Would give it an 8/10!! read more

I had the chicken parm and it was great. Asked for extra sauce with no issues. Husband had the burger and for a Pub made to just about perfect. Had the clam cakes for appetizer and there was only three. Thought there would of been more. Good prices. read more
