When she didn't come out, we went back in, and she looked like she had completely forgotten about us. We waited another 10 to 15 minutes before our table was ready. We were quite impressed with the menu, however when our appetizers arrived, we were quite surprised at the scant portions. We had planned on sharing, and with a $15 price point had no reason to think that we wouldn't be able to. The 3 sisters corn fritters were barely enough for one person and used canned corn at a time when corn is wonderfully abundant in the local area from multiple farms nearby. It was quite a shock when our server mentioned to some guests behind us that it was corn season, but yet he was using canned corn off the Sysco truck. The tomato caprese app was equally disappointing. It arrived with what appeared to be one slice from a store purchased log of fresh mozzarella that had been over fried and burned on the bottom with one thin slice of tomato cut in half and that was to be considered two layers. Impressive. Taste was mediocre and we mentioned to the server that one thin, sliced tomato cut in half was underwhelming, he came back and said he would comp the app stating that he would not have served that and he was sorry. Because of the time we waited for our table and the tiny portions in the appetizers, my sister asked if they had any type of bread plate. The waitress said they had a bread and olive oil appetizer on a previous menu and she would serve it to us. It was a few pieces of bread, lightly toasted and some olive oil and basil in a bowl. My sister ordered the pork tenderloin special. It was to be served with.aglio e olio, rhubarb chutney. When the plate arrived, there was a rather large slab of watermelon on the side, which was completely out of place on a dinner entrée. It was as though they had added it to simply fill the space. The aglio e olio was an overcooked mushy pile of corkscrew pasta that was in no way authentically Italian. The chutney was brown and not very good. My sister said the pork was OK, her boyfriend said it was kind of dry. I ordered the rigatoni à la vodka. I had pretty high expectations because I love a good vodka sauce. When it arrived, it wasn't rigatoni at all, but another type of curved tubular pasta, there was very little sauce and the sauce that was there was a spicy and not vodka sauce at all. My sister's boyfriend asked the server if he could bring some sauce. He seemed a little irritated, but said sure. He brought back a small bowl of the sauce, and I added it to the pasta. The sauce was not creamy at all, and I had a few bites and then left the rest. The server asked if I wanted to take it home, and I politely told him no. The reason for the two stars is because we ordered a veggie luxe pizza with added arugula to take with us, and it was excellent. It was our general opinion they should stick to the Pizza and other simple menu items versus trying to cook, authentic Italian dishes that fall flat. You can still have an exceptional menu without trying to overreach on things that you just don't know how to prepare properly. We were very disappointed. It was clear the server/owner was agitated and not interested in our very honest and polite feedback. When we were finished, we left out the back door. If you are looking for a basic meal, and not anything exceptional, go ahead and give it a try. The pizza is great. Otherwise, I would pick from one of the many other excellent restaurants in the area.

We sat with empty glasses of water and didn't have a sip left for our entire meal when asked if we wanted boxes and said no it wasn't good. She offered no input and just handed me the bill. This is by far the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out either. My espresso martini was good, but nothing special. That said, the building itself is charming and a little eccentric in a good way. I can definitely see how the experience would be elevated in warmer weather--sitting out on the patio overlooking the river would be a big plus.
