Finally got to the front of the line to order at 12:15 and was served my food 10 minutes later. $38 for a sandwich is steep and it's cash only so you have to carry a lot of cash if you are feeding a family/group. They were already out of the local honey soda since I guess they're getting ready to close for the season (it's mid September). The lady who took our order when we finally got to the counter was nice. After we ordered we sat down at a table to wait, it was a nice day out and you could kinds of see the water. We didn't have a problem finding a table, so there is probably the perfect amount of tables correlated to the somewhat slow single cashier ordering system. The lobster roll was piled high and delicious. The lobster is cold but tasted very fresh. Got it with some warm butter and some lemons. I prefer a warm lobster roll, but this lobster roll was just outstanding. Huge and fresh and tons of meat, including plenty of tail meat where most other places only give you mostly claw meat. It was loaded so high, I had to take like a third of the meat off just so I could fit the sandwich in my mouth, and then I ate the lobster on its own with a fork. Easily the best lobster roll I've ever had. But again, not sure if it was worth the 1.5+ hour wait. I stopped here on our way from Portland to Bar Harbor for a few days, and I actually had the opportunity to stop here again on the way back but opted not to because 90+ minutes is a long time to wait for a sandwich. Taste was mediocre and we mentioned to the server that one thin, sliced tomato cut in half was underwhelming, he came back and said he would comp the app stating that he would not have served that and he was sorry. Because of the time we waited for our table and the tiny portions in the appetizers, my sister asked if they had any type of bread plate. The waitress said they had a bread and olive oil appetizer on a previous menu and she would serve it to us. It was a few pieces of bread, lightly toasted and some olive oil and basil in a bowl. My sister ordered the pork tenderloin special. It was to be served with.aglio e olio, rhubarb chutney. When the plate arrived, there was a rather large slab of watermelon on the side, which was completely out of place on a dinner entrée. It was as though they had added it to simply fill the space. The aglio e olio was an overcooked mushy pile of corkscrew pasta that was in no way authentically Italian. The chutney was brown and not very good. My sister said the pork was OK, her boyfriend said it was kind of dry. I ordered the rigatoni à la vodka. I had pretty high expectations because I love a good vodka sauce. When it arrived, it wasn't rigatoni at all, but another type of curved tubular pasta, there was very little sauce and the sauce that was there was a spicy and not vodka sauce at all. My sister's boyfriend asked the server if he could bring some sauce. He seemed a little irritated, but said sure. He brought back a small bowl of the sauce, and I added it to the pasta. The sauce was not creamy at all, and I had a few bites and then left the rest. The server asked if I wanted to take it home, and I politely told him no. The reason for the two stars is because we ordered a veggie luxe pizza with added arugula to take with us, and it was excellent. It was our general opinion they should stick to the Pizza and other simple menu items versus trying to cook, authentic Italian dishes that fall flat. You can still have an exceptional menu without trying to overreach on things that you just don't know how to prepare properly. We were very disappointed. It was clear the server/owner was agitated and not interested in our very honest and polite feedback. When we were finished, we left out the back door. If you are looking for a basic meal, and not anything exceptional, go ahead and give it a try. The pizza is great. Otherwise, I would pick from one of the many other excellent restaurants in the area.

My issue with his dish was that the ravioli was severely undercooked, and it was way too chewy... definitely not al dente. They simply didn't cook it long enough, which was a shame because the flavors were excellent. Big miss for an Italian restaurant. I suppose I'd give this place another try if we're ever fortunate enough to return to Boothbay. We definitely would have to agree on one entree between the two of us, though, so we don't waste food.
