We just had an early dinner at this restaurant. This was our second time at the Matterhorn, the first being take out. We had ordered the Matterhorn steak tips and the balsamic salmon. Both meals tasted great, the beef was non stringy, well cooked as I desired with a nice bourbon style sauce, seasoned mashed potatoes and a couple of vegetable varieties. The salmon was also delicious which my wife had but the bite she gave me was also very appetizing. I am fairly opinionated about food and an establishment's atmosphere. I was not expecting the Waldorf hotel restaurant so the decor and general ambiance was very fitting to the ski area (aka Matterhorn restaurant). I thoroughly enjoyed all the ski memorabilia and decorative metal pieces. Will come again!

My boyfriend and I were looking for dinner last night. This is our first time at Sunday River and we're unsure of where to go. This was a terrific option. It was busy as one of the few options. The wait staff were pleasant, prompt, efficient and friendly. We had a small wait which we did at the bar. They have a large selection of beers & wines, and we enjoyed our choices. It is a classic tavern so the menu is aligned with that identity. We had the artichoke and spinach dip , which was warm & very tasty; we enjoyed that a lot. My boyfriend had the fish & chips; it was delish and the portion was enormous. I had a bison burger cooked to order and I enjoyed it very much. On the whole, it was a pleasant time. The ambiance was lively and we enjoyed the band who played and watching people dance. We would go back because we enjoyed it!

Maine Beer Co. Lunch, cribbage, and good company!

Great bar at Sunday River. Good place to get hammered with the ski crew. Also a good place to bring the family for a burger.

However, we ended up having a great meal. I got the tomato soup and bread, and my hubby got Joe's special (or some similar name; it was pretty much like a Philly Cheesesteak). I was obsessed with the soup. It was flavorful, without being rich. My husband was happy with his sandwich, and very impressed with the sweet potato fries. The only downfall is the price of the cocktails. We paid $14 for each drink...and the drinks weren't anything to write home about. All in all, a solid 4 star. We'll be returning later this week.

The hostess asked us to come back in 20 minutes because they were at capacity which we did with no issue. When we returned our hostess was quite rude and seemed overwhelmed and annoyed that we had come back. We were seated at a table and our server did not come over for at least 25 minutes. It took another 10 minutes to get our drinks, they missed our waters (which we asked for). The server did not ask us what we wanted for food. It appeared only one server was working. Eventually after trying to flag her down for fifteen more minutes she took our order. Our waitress barely paid attention to us. After we ate I left with my friend and our girlfriends stayed for drinks while we skied. They asked to go to the bar at which point the hostess told them to wait at the table for someone to come over and bring them to the bar. That never happened and they asked again at which point the hostess told them they had to leave because they were at the table past their time limit. They told her they were waiting to go to the bar and eventually were moved there. The service was even slower from there on. It overall seemed like they didn't want us there and didn't want to serve us. We spent a good amount of money and were respectful of the rules but the staff was rude and almost completely ignored us. It's disappointing because I have been coming here multiple times a year since I was a kid. Today was possibly the worst service I have ever experienced at a restaurant.

The food was fantastic and the staff was very friendly and made us feel like old friends. I would highly recommend checking this place out next time you head up to the slopes at Sunday River. I went there with a group of 4 of us and every dish was excellent and reasonably priced. I ordered a Caesar Salad and the Brick Chicken. The salad was very well prepared and had a very light Caesar dressing that picked up the flavor from the lemon garnish and bite-sized garlic toast croutons. The Brick Chicken was a perfectly prepared and succulent piece of chicken with crispy skin that was served on a bed of rice with lime and orange garnishes. The other dish I tasted was the Vegetable en croute, which was an eastern European style vegetable dish with a phyllo dough crust. This dish was good, but not great. I would go with the brick chicken if you are deciding between the two options. However, you won't be going wrong with either choice. My other friends ordered the Pork Osso Bucco and the Steak frites and had great things to say about both of these dishes as well. If you are looking for a more upbeat ambiance you can find that downstairs in the suds pub. This place looked really fun and has live music. It also worth noting that you can order the pub food in the bistro as well if you are looking for that type of fare in a mellower ambiance. We also ate at the Black Diamond Steakhouse while we were in town. Everyone agreed that Bistro 151 is a superior restaurant all around from a both a service and food perspective.

We understand that it was a busy night, but the hostess was a bit rude and we still had to wait 20 minutes even with a reservation. We don't mind waiting, but there wasn't a designated place to wait and ended up awkwardly standing in front of the bathrooms until we were seated. The waitress was nice but seemed confused about the specials and non-alcoholic drink options. The service was fine otherwise, and our food didn't take too long. The food is ultimately what prompted us to give this one-star review. For the prices that we paid, which were on average $30/plate, we found that it was severely lacking. The rice was sticky and undercooked in some parts. The food was under seasoned and did not match the descriptions on the menu. The "seasonal vegetables" were red peppers and broccoli. It was not bad, it just did not match the quality that we were expecting. Overall, we found this experience to be lacking and wished that we could have gotten more from this restaurant.

I got the crab Parmesan truffle carbonara (need I say more) and my husband got the lamb shank over risotto. Both were 12/10. Skip the chocolate cake and just get a dozen of the donuts. Krispy cream could NEVERRRR. I'm literally waddling out of here with the biggest smile on my face. Anyone in previous reviews that was complaining about price doesn't understand value. It was worth every freaking penny.
