Awesome place to stop , great change of pace if you're spending a few days at Sunday river but I wouldn't waste your day after an already expensive lift ticket. Quick bite : Grilled cheese was amazing . Tomato soup , best I ever had (Sorry mom) 10/10 . Drinks were spot on. Great dirty martini , Bloody Mary was best on mtn. VERY PRICEY. We didn't want to sit for a 2 hour lunch but if we had , the bill would be sky high. Classic ski bar feel but high class. High end spirits offered . Waitress was not welcoming at all. Which really didn't make or break anything but definitely didn't make us stay longer. read more

Sunday River is our home mountain and we often go to the Mountain Room for drinks. I do recommend it for a beer. It can get quite crowded, but it has a fun atmosphere both inside and out. We especially enjoy having a beer outside on the deck. My issue is with the food, however. This past weekend, we had a group come up to the mountain and decided to get food at the Mountain Room for lunch. I was less than impressed. The food was good, but the sizing/pricing was honestly ridiculous. The 'entrees' can't even be called that. It was $18 for a single, small taco (pictured). The grilled cheese and tomato soup ($15) came with a small, not completely filled, single glass of soup and the grilled cheese was made with such small slices of ciabatta that if you put two sandwiches together, they might be the size of a standard sandwich. I understand that things are often more expensive on the mountain and was prepared for that when I ordered, but that every person in our group left a decently expensive lunch still hungry is unimpressive to say the least. I will return for a beer only and not get food again. read more

This place is my favorite stop on the mountain for lunch and/or drinks. Located at the North Peak Lodge at the top of the Chondola at Sunday River, it's a small room overlooking the mountain. Super nice view and super nice staff. The space is somewhat small, but they have amazing drinks (the Hotty Totty is the best I've ever had), and the food is great too! I had a beet salad with fresh greens and ricotta croutons (like ricotta toast but baked even crunchier--ricotta melted in my mouth). My dad had a prosciutto and cheese panini melt. Nice, fresh ingredients. The menu is definitely a scale up from the other restaurants. Overall a great spot for your midday stop while skiing!! The Mountain Room also has its own mug club with these big, picture-worthy mugs (see photos on the page). This late in the season it's only a $50 buy-in. Pretty good deal! My ONLY dislike is that they're only open on weekends and holidays. Otherwise I recommend a visit! read more

I am not price sensitive when the food is good especially in a ski resort. We paid 350$ for 8 people for lunch (no alcohol). We ordered tapas style with shared plates. One third of the dishes were unpalatable by the entire group. Some were too salty, some had no flavor, and some were just bad. Oxtail and tuna tartare were great. read more

Please try their pork tacos, your tastes buds will praise you! Oh my, I have never in my life tasted better seasoned and crisped to perfection pork tacos on homemade corn tortillas. Our server was wonderful and the drink menu had a copious amount of different options! One qualm if you're looking for a large meal this isn't the place, it's more tapas style but you will not be disappointed in the flavor department! Their wedge salad is delectable, they run a somewhat charred tasting dressing in with the blue cheese and I had to refrain from licking the plate. Well done! read more

We were aware that the chef stops making food at a certain point, so in anticipation put our name in at 11:20 and were told to expect a text in an hour or so. At 12:30 we checked in and were told it would be just a little longer. At 1:55 we got a text, we were already in the patio, as we head inside and are about to be seated we're told the chef was done and we were shit out of luck. You cannot take a name at 11:20, then text at 1:55 (unless you're texting a middle finger) then not even seat us. Keep your delicious food, I'm never going to the front room, the grill room, thre mountain room, the corner room, any of these places. That was unbelievable. Once loyal fans of the mountain room turned NEVER again. Terrible terrible terrible!!! As bad as customer service gets. We had a reservation and the host placed us in the bar area not letting us know that we had no server and had to walk up to the bar to order. After waiting for 20 minutes, I walked up to the host to ask if we had a server. She watched me standing there, while she went on to wipe down the same table TWO times while the restaurant was dead, again watching me stand at the host station. She ended up moving us to a table where we had a waitress. When we said we wanted to order food the waitress looked stressed because the kitchen was closing. Would have been nice to know when the kitchen closed, as we wasted a half hour just sitting there while not one staff member came up to us. It gets better...... The waitress tells her manager that she had to put a food order in as the kitchen was closing and the manager obnoxiously rolled her eyes right in front of us. The waitress told us we had another hour until they stoped serving drinks, so we ordered one more round. A few minutes after receiving our drinks the bartended clapped her hands and yelled out to the entire restaurant "time to finish up people we have a gondola to catch". Yikes. You're not fooling us theyre not going to leave you stranded up here. We get the picture you were ready to be done with your shift. We live in the Portland area and frequent the Grill room on a regular weekly basis, and the mountain room on a regular basis when skiing every weekend. I really wanted to like this place because I had heard such good things from other people. A group of friends and I ate lunch their during a ski trip. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and s tomato soup. We waited well over an hour for our food to come out, and by that time I was starving. When my meal finally came out, all I could do was laugh. My "sandwich" was a smear of cheese between two of the tiniest pieces of bread I've ever seen. And it came with about a quarter cup of soup. On top of that, they completely messed up my friends' orders. read more

The best meal in the Bethel area! The only complaints I have is that they don't serve dinner and aren't open year-round, and it would be nice if they were open every day during ski season like the other food establishments on the mountain. The service is consistently attentive and there is bar, table, and high top bench seating to accommodate the ski crowd. The menu features inventive versions of North American and European classics, with some different dishes each year. This year's oxtail, wedge salad, headcheese poutine, scotch egg, and charcuterie / cheese board along with the house hard cider are just some of the highlights. read more
