Happy NYE! We were lucky to get a reservation at the bar where Bailey was our delightful server. While Sudova's predecessor, the Wodka Bar, was a favorite, we weren't sure how we'd feel about its upscale sister. Well, YUM. We shared an order of rye varenky potato sauerkraut dumplings with apple butter, then my husband had the Holubsti, stuffed cabbage rolls, and we shared the buckwheat and millet risotto, complemented by a delicious cremant. We took home leftovers of the risotto so we could try Medovik, the honey cake carried over from Wodka Bar with after dinner liqueurs. The service and food were all terrific and set off our new year with promise. Thank you and we look forward to coming back! read more

Absolutely delicious! Was very skeptical as the dumb 'merikan that couldn't pronounce over half the items on the menu. But my daughter invited us out, and stepping outside your comfort zone can be very rewarding. Largely inspired by Ukrainian and Polish tastes, not too far from country German in style. Different but not alien, and all good! read more

Beautiful decor. Delicious food. Seated at the bar and shared several items amongst three of us. Everything was fantastic. read more

My girl friends and I came to celebrate our birthdays, we sat at the bar (with reservation) as the place is very small with limited seating. The courtyard would add space but it was gloomy rainy day. We shared 2 small plates, dumplings and 1 large plate. We started with the cheese spread and sourdough - it was yummy. The dumplings were salty and savory but our favorite was the large chicken "schnitzel"! Since we were celebrating we split the honey cake, they change the flavors seasonally and got greeted with the most delicious lemon poppy goodness! The waiter also gifted us three a cranberry vodka shot, a nice surprise. Looking forward to coming back, great for date nights! read more

Great interior vibe, food and drinks. I would come back just for the Medovik and the P'yana Vyshnya cocktail; some of the best I've ever had. Khachapuri was not as cheesy as others I've had but still flavorful. The dough of beef pelmeni was a little too thick compared to the filling. Overall, better dessert and drinks than food but definitely worth coming back read more

I have been eyeing Sudova some time since they opened in the Summer! I was lucky to grab a NYE reservation! They had a great seating selection, large and small tables and seats at the bar. I appreciated that although an intimate space I was able to hear my dinner date in conversation. Our waiter was awesome and had great suggestions which we took! We chose an appetizer, one of the dumpling plates and then the short rib strogonaff. That was plenty for us! I will be back! read more

I had a fabulous girls' night dinner here! A friend suggested we come here, and I was surely not disappointed. It gives such a cool New York vibe from the outside and when you walk in. Cozy, small outdoor seating area, mood lighting, chill vibes, great menu. We ordered a few things to try the menu and were so pleased. I loved that there were so many vegetarian options! The Khachapuri was DIVINE! Bread and cheese will never steer you wrong. Super friendly service as well, and she gave us good recommendations to make sure we ordered enough food. I can't wait to return! read more

Really enjoyed our experience at Sudova. The atmosphere is elevated comfortable in a cozy space with bright walls and nice art. We were seated right away and our server, Jackson , was very attentive and helpful throughout the evening. A great variety of different Eastern European dishes. We had several to split for our meal. The dumplings and cabbage rolls were amazing. Everything we had was cooked wonderfully and the cocktails were perfect. We will be back. read more

I wish I could give this place more than 5 Stars as it is excellent in every way. First of all, Cincinnati doesn't have many options for this Eastern European Cuisine, so it's great to see Sudova opening up right here in downtown! So many of the dishes feel familiar but also distinctly different than anything I've had before, so it's a really fun time to simply taste through the menu. It's clear that these dishes have been worked on and perfected over time. You HAVE to try the bread with the sweet butter and then take a bite of the fresh green onion with salt! I don't know what I was expecting, but that was a really wild flavor ride that left me pleasantly surprised. My wife hates onions and even enjoyed trying this! Every single dish we tried was excellent and gave that cozy feeling of "home cooking" where it's comforting but also fresh and savory. The wine selection delivered every time and the infused vodka drinks were well balanced. I know you're not supposed to mix so many different types of alcohol , but I also had a beer and it was one of my favorite pilsners I've ever had (from Austria). The interior is beautiful and I really enjoyed the skylights and the large glass front wall. It just had such a moody dynamic and a nice place to have a beautiful meal. And the staff was super polite and very attentive so overall five out of five!! I'm excited to go back and will be taking some friends out with us next time to share the experience! I highly recommend checking out this place! read more

i had been wanting to try this place since it opened and finally got a group together and we were all amazed. the vibe of the restaurant feels very intimate and very cool without feeling stuffy or pretentious. the perfect amount of dim lighting to set the mood paired with a fantastic cocktail and delicious food. i would order the khachapuri again in a heartbeat, it practically melted in my mouth. i also don't often get dessert but it is a must at sudova. read more

Everything at Sudova is thoughtfully curated, all the way down to the matchbooks! You can't really compete with better food or cocktails. I had an espresso martini and a glass of red for my meal, but as for food...whoa, you can't really go wrong with ordering anything on the menu. Definitely get the khlib and sip to start, the spring onion dipped in salt after eating the bread is such a sensory delight! It might sound strange but you have to try it! The rye dumplings, khachapuri, kotleta, and star of the menu: kulebiaka! Think of the best puff pastry/pot pie you have ever had drizzled with a béarnaise sauce and that's what you get. As for desert, the brownie with ice cream might sound basic, but anything but. The ice cream is some of the most unique and tasty I've had. All in all you won't be disappointed if you eat here. You'll be dreaming of when you can come back next read more

I can't wait to go back. My friends and I had a wonderful experience. The food was simple and delicious. The service was knowledgeable and friendly and the decor was beautiful. Great drinks, great food. Nice atmosphere. Found it very odd that they were dusting the ceiling directly above other customers tables. Didn't affect me personally, but I could vividly imagine dust falling onto their table and plate. Just an overall strange time to do that. read more

Wow. This place totally delivered. It's small, narrow and quiet - yay for sound panels! But the food is the real standout. Everything we ate was uh-mazing. And after 3 small plates, splitting an entree, 2 desserts and a cocktail the bill was barely over a hundy. Another wow! Ok so the food - I don't remember the names of everything we had but we started with the grilled bread and farmers cheese, borscht, and paprika potatoes with a dill crème fraiche. Oh my gosh - the bread and potatoes - with a hint of dill - were perfect! I liked the borscht but it had beef and I'm a beet purist but otherwise it was tasty. We split a chicken dish with peas - sort of like schnitzel - with an arugula salad and it was fabulous. I finished with a kolachi trio which wasn't as fab as I was hoping for but I did really like the apricot. Overall - a great gem of a restaurant! Friendly, cozy, interesting and yummy food, without breaking the bank. They even have a borscht-tini! Maybe next time I'll try it. Highly recommend. read more

Great ambiance, great food! Wish we had left room for dessert as the cake looked delicious.

Lovely place for a celebration dinner. Considerate of allergies. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. We had the cabbage rolls, the latkes, the potatoes, the dumplings, the salmon, the fried chicken, everything was delicious! The restaurant is a bit small so it's not great for large parties in the winter but the patio has more room for bigger tables when it's warm out. read more

Ambience is warm and intimate. Decor is beautiful. Someone put their heart and soul into this place. The service was attentive, providing help with the wine and food. Menu terms were unfamiliar to me but they were cheerfully explained. And the food!! Familiar flavors like fresh herbs, paprika among others. We ordered 3 apps to share and then our entrees. Appropriate portions . We're going back and taking people with us! PS, not a big place. I'd say party of 6-8 max. read more

I was very excited to go to Sudova given my love of the menu at the now closed Wodka Bar from the same owner. We had a reservation and were seated right away. Nice ambiance and service was good throughout. My wife and I ordered the khlib (bread), holibsti (stuffed cabbage), halushki (caramelized cabbage) and rye varenyke (dumplings). The bread came out first. It was over toasted but still edible. The remainder of the food came out on fairly short order. The stuffed cabbage was definitely the highlight. Tightly wrapped cabbage with a nice sweet tomato sauce. The remainder of the food was pretty bland and unremarkable. All in all disappointing. Would go back to pick up the stuffed cabbage to go, but that's about it. read more

We were excited to try Sudova as we were big fans of the Wodka Bar from the same owner and it did not disappoint. The restaurant is beautiful and has a great atmosphere. There were always great drinks at Wodka Bar and Sudova is the same - the cocktails looked and tasted amazing. The food was delicious with the Khachapuri cheese bread being our favorite and the Medovik honey cake for dessert was to die for. Where to start? We were really looking forward to dining here. We try to visit the new spots in town and this one really piqued our interest. Made a reservation for 5:15pm and arrived just after 5pm. We were seated in the absolute worst table in the place. I could see the exit hallway and the kitchen pass through. We ordered a bottle of wine that turned out to be the best part of the meal. We ordered the Salat, Tvorog and Pelmeni and none of them really impressed. It's really not my style to leave less than stellar reviews (check out my others) but this place deserves to know that they can do much better. read more

Sudova * Eastern European Kitchen - Bar area . - Modern European Near Me - Cincinnati, Ohio

Great Eastern European foods prepared well. Intimate setting but a bit noisy. Staff is very helpful in choosing dishes.

We had early reservations and only two tables were occupied. They sat us at the worst table in the house. My husband had a view of the exit. We should have asked to be moved but we didn't. So we were by where all the staff hung out at the kitchen window. It took awhile to get our wine as they were still polishing wine glasses for dinner. Our beet salad had about 8 extremely tiny pieces of beet and was all arugula. The Trovog was fine. The pelmeni was bland and chewy. I really wanted to have a good experience as I love Ukrainian cuisine but there was no value for our money and the flavor was lacking. The decor was beautiful but they need to revisit all the dishes we tried as none were stellar. My husband grabbed something from the fridge when we got home because he was still hungry read more

I have been wanting to try Sudova for a while and finally got my chance this week. We got there early because we didn't have a reservation (honestly I thought on a Tuesday evening we would be fine), if we had not gotten there early we would have been out of luck. Next time we will make sure we make a reservation to ensure we don't miss the opportunity to dine at this quaint little spot. The restaurant is small with a cute courtyard with seating. Lighting is dim and moat Lighting seemed to come for the overhead sky light and a few wall sconces, creating an intimate setting. The food was the star and did not disappoint. I had Cabbage rolls which is a favorite or mine (that I only make for holidays or can get occasionally when I visit my in-laws) and my husband had Rye Varenyky. We shared the Kartoplya Paprikas and had some cocktails and honey poppyseed cake. Every item came out picture perfect and was delicious. We travel to Poland regularly and the food was as good if not better than some of the Polish fine dining options we frequent. My husband said it made him think of home, which is high praise. We will be back. Looking forward to trying some other options. read more

I have eaten here multiple times. The service is impeccable. Servers at the table have been great and I sat at the bar once and was concerned about the service as bartenders can get busy making drinks and the service can suffer. But at Sudova, the dinner service at the bar was still good, so don't worry if the only reservations are at the bar. Food here has been excellent. We share a lot so we have tried almost everything on the menu. Flavors and textures are remarkable. The place is small and quaint making for really pleasurable evening. read more
