It would be awesome if they had some kolaches with just cheese or were sweet, so while I had one with ham and cheese and one with sausage in cheese, she was at least able to enjoy a strawberry and cream danish as well as the always awesome poppyseed kolache. It's possible that a pecan square was purchased for later consumption, too. The self-serve coffee was great and we enjoyed all of this inside at a comfortable table. And after that, more shopping. Really makes me wonder why cream cheese isn't used in more savory kolaches. Outside of that one they have a wide selection that has consistently provided hits when I try something new. The bread quality is really good, and they don't skimp on the meats either. I will say their savory quality is a touch higher than the sweet, particularly on the bread, but the sweet are also quite good and have a crazy array of options. I think this spot is super overlooked and is well worth giving a try. The ham is not cheap deli sliced ham - it's actual ham ground up. The meat to cheese ratio was a little off for my preference (stuffed full of meat, needed a little more cheese to help cut the salt) but I plan to go back and try more when passing through again. The food arrived fairly promptly, and immediately I was perplexed. The chicken tenders looked like pre-formed frozen patties, very flat. The green beans were loaded with onions, which my husband hates, and he never would have ordered if he'd known that. He immediately slid his bowl of beans over to me. My Czech "fries" were definitely not fries. They were essentially scalloped potatoes with sliced onions. They tasted fine, but whatever special seasoning they used was hard to taste. I do have to say that the liver was delicious, perfectly cooked, and the cream gravy I requested was the perfect addition. My husband said his chicken strips tasted ok, but they were certainly not the type of strips we're used to from local restaurants. My overall opinion is that this is a place that's been there a long time, locals are used to eating there and comfortable with being recognized, and don't care that the interior just looks tired and dated. It wasn't a bad experience, but we wouldn't make another 88-mile trip back to West just to eat there.

First of all, the food. Yes, the Fillin' Station is a bar and grill, but they really don't overlook the grill side of the house. The menu is full of appetizer options and a wide variety of all of the traditional American classics like burgers, sandwiches, chicken, chicken fried steak, and steaks. My work partner raved about the baked potato filled with grilled chicken and grilled onions. My chicken strips were significantly better than most places as were my fries and tots. Further, everything was well-seasoned. The owners and staff are beyond friendly and super accommodating. Right now, I'd say the best dining option in West (aside from kolaches) is coming from the kitchen of this "Bar and Grill." Since I work in West regularly, this is my new go-to for meals.

By no means was it bad, but neither was it good nor did it even approximate the concept of chicken parmesan. On another note, the cleanliness could use some work. Every piece of silverware had an almost sticky residue to it. The owner seemed friendly and so did the young lady helping him, so there is that. I want small business to succeed, but there has to be something above and beyond good intentions.
