I am diabetic, so I specifically ask at the drive-thru window, "Is this Diet Coke?" Both times I was told yes. Giving a diabetic a sugar-sweetened beverage after specifically confirming it is diet is more than a simple order mistake and could have serious health consequences. On September 23 at approximately 7:30 a.m., I went inside specifically to make management aware of this recurring problem. I spoke with the female manager on duty and explained what had happened and why it concerned me. Her response was essentially that she wasn't there when it happened. I was not asking for free food, a refund, or compensation. I simply wanted management to take the issue seriously and make sure employees understand the importance of correctly identifying regular and diet beverages. When I asked for the district manager's name, she refused to provide it. I then asked for her name, and she also refused to provide that. The conversation escalated because I felt a legitimate health and safety concern was being dismissed. As I was leaving, I could hear her discussing the incident with employees and complaining that she was being blamed even though she wasn't working when the drinks were served. I was not blaming her for making the drinks. I was asking the manager on duty to address a recurring problem at the restaurant she was managing. I am requesting that the franchise owner or district manager contact me and explain what corrective action will be taken regarding both the beverage issue and how this complaint was handled.
