Subway has gone through a number of changes in the past couple of years. The supply chain issues across the globe have been felt here too, as seen with the deletion of roast beef from the menu some time ago. Alas, they've bounced back and are busier and better than ever imho. The ease of ordering on the app saves time waiting in line and further adds to safety precautions by way of no contact. It keeps your favorites, allows you to customize your order, all while accruing points towards future savings. On occasion they have promo codes to further pad your pocketbook. I especially appreciate the option add a note (receipt in bag, label sandwiches) and add a tip in the app as well! I appreciate the customer service I've received, like a personal call to let me know if something is out of stock. The best improvement yet has been The Vault Menu featuring NFL Stars favorites. The digital-only menu features the favorite subs of biggest names in sports. My daughter had a regular favorite until I surprised her with a #5 Bella Mozza, a sweet upgrade from her traditional Black Forest Ham. I'm trying the #17 Garlic Roast Beef tonight. To be fair, I don't usually go to Subway because I have low expectations. In n Out was packed so decided to stop here on our way to our camping site. As soon as I walked in I noticed that the sandwich maker had her mask below her nose and the two customers did not have masks. First I thought maybe the sandwich maker's mask slipped and once she finished the sandwich she was making she'd put it back up but she did not. She had it like that the entire time. Don't ask me why but we decided to stay. I don't recall if she even changed her gloves. I want to say she did but honestly I cannot tell you for 100%. After we ordered I asked for my soda. The sign on the soda machine said this is not help yourself. I understood that knowing the situation we're in. She told me to go ahead and pour my soda so I did. When I needed a refill I felt guilty so I let her know that I needed a refill. She nodded and said go ahead. By now the second employee had come in and looked at her and asked, "Did you let her get her drink on her own?" She told her she did. Another problem was that the chips were in a bin in the front of the register rather than being behind the counter where they had to give them to us. I asked for my chips and she told me to get them myself. Fortunately mine were not in that been so she had to get it from behind the shelf. Thank you to all the customers who wore masks. I wish she had worn hers properly. Since I'm just now starting to go out, I'm still scared so this is why I'm bringing this up. It was my first time sitting at a fast food. It seemed clean but that mask under her nose tells you that they are not following the actual covid-19 criteria. Hopefully they get a little more strict and will make customers feel safe. read more

Even with all the challenges that have come with COVID for restaurants of all types, I want to recognize this Subway for doing a great job the other night. 1 employee working (wish I'd gotten his name) took care of a family of 4 ahead of me, not rushing them through, being efficient but patient with customers whose 1st language wasn't English & with 2 little ones, changing gloves when he used the cash register (!!) as well as between customers, very polite but with a personality. He made my sandwich with care & precision (I don't think I've ever had a more perfectly crafted Subway before) and even though they had run out of tomatoes, my sandwich was delicious. The restaurant was clean, the employee was great, and my sandwich & cookies were perfect. Kudos!! read more

This is a good quick stop. I have yet to see it very busy, so it is perfect for grabbing and going. It can be a bit tricky getting in and out, as Hawthorne is pretty busy. When entering watch out for the funny sidewalk set up, it could be an ankle breaker... Took half an hour for 2 sandwiches with only 2 people in front of me. They just kept arguing with each other and not focusing on helping customers. Very frustrating. I placed an order through Uber eats it was literally passed an hour and still nothing I checked with the Uber driver she got tired of waiting so she left I then got another driver he was literally waiting like 40 minutes there because they forgot to make the order i mean why would you put this location on Uber eats if they're not going to follow through with making the orders. read more

I'm beyond disgusted and disappointed. The woman who helped us when we walked in did not put new gloves on when starting to prepare our food after she had just been stocking the chip shelves before. To add on she was sniffling and wiping her nose with her arm while still preparing food. In addition while she was making my sandwich she was touching her apple smart watch with the same gloves she was using to prepare my food with then continued to add the cheese to my sandwich after. She was in and out of focus not focused on making the order , rather staring off and looking around and taking her time. I've never spent so long at a subway before , we were in line with no other customers in the store ,making our 2 sandwiches for close to 20 minutes. Somebody came directly outside from smoking to "wrapping" up/ squeezing my sandwich, no mask, no gloves, no handwashing.. The person who made my sandwich wore a mask but had his nose exposed, and stuck his mayonnaise covered glove from someone elses sandwich in with the onions and other vegetables cross contaminating all of them. Went in late last night right before closing because the girl was performing her cleaning duties. Me and my sister had a big order... the girl was nice and made our sandwiches very neat and nice to where nothing fell out, and the bake potatoe soup was so delicious. I wish I would've grabbed the girls name- she was very pleasant and didn't make us feel like we're were a bother although we must have been, and she is a real sandwich artist. Yes, I'm writing a Subway review. Only because my experience deserves one. If I lived in the neighborhood I'd make this my go-to place for any of my fast food cravings. Why?.... Service. The staff is EXTRAORDINARILY friendly. Like top notch. I would not be surprised, if Subway had some sort of All-Start team, this particular one would have a couple starters. Also, the inside is a bit retro-subway in that there is a lot of seating...like almost enough for a small restaurant. Normally, any mega-chain basically deserves 3 stars..you have to really go over (or under) the top to have me waver of this opinion.
