Nancy Jo's (burger and fries chain founded/opened in 2012 in Oregon) in Keizer, Oregon, was my last food stop in Oregon on a day trip on Thursday 19 October 2023. I was getting a bit full, and decided to go with the Hogg fries as they sounded good and I had yet to find loaded fries I was really a fan of. Arriving in the early afternoon, there were a couple of other customers waiting for their order. I was briefly the only customer in the restaurant before a few other people/groups arrived. Placing my order was a walk up to the counter and place my order and pay style. When the order was ready, I went and picked it up. A cook/chef was visible from the front counter. The workers were clear and concise in our interactions. For dining, I went with a high top table facing a television that was playing "Mrs. Doubtfire" (a 1993 film) with captions on. The fries were delicious and the fries were a bigger, but not so big to be a streak fry, size with skins still on the fry tips (I like fries with some skin still on). Atop the fries was cheese, burger sauce, fresh cooked bacon pieces (not crumbles), and slices of caramelized onions. It was absolutely delicious. The quality of the ingredients really radiated and I could taste everything. The burger sauce had a stronger flavor. I finished about half the order in-restaurant and took the other half with me. At the Gee Creek Safety Rest Area in Ridgefield, Washington State, I finished the second half of the order. They were still excellent, perhaps even better, cooled down. My taste buds had recovered from flavor fatigue (my taste buds can get tired if I eat a lot) a bit and I was pleased to find the fries tasted even better with my taste buds rebounding. read more

The burgers are so good!! An almost absurd amount of free, delicious toppings: from ketchup or lettuce, to grilled onions or peanut butter sauce. The fries are literally the best I've ever had. Terrible service. The food is ok but not worth it anymore. When you have people who live three blocks behind your location that would rather drive 20 minutes to Burger Basket, that should tell you something about the customer service. Nancy, it's time to get back to the basics like your stores had when they first opened. My biggest suggestion would be, ensure that abrasive people are not in charge of answering the phone. You're better off going within answering service. If I went more than once per month, I would probably not say anything. But the fact that every single time we try to call in an order, nobody ever answers the phone until the third or fourth call. And when we do get somebody to pick up, they are extremely abrasive and are obviously upset that they chose to work for Nancys. I mean, why else would you answer the phone and act like you hate your job. Visited Keizer location, placed an order to go: fries and bacon cheeseburger with mushrooms. Got home and the fries were stale and cold, barely filled the container. Cheeseburger had no mushrooms or bacon. I paid extra for the bacon. Sadly this has happened before, ordering bacon and not receiving it. I truly believe it's because I did not leave a tip. Starting with the good part. The food was great as usual, and that's what brings me back. However, I was pretty disgusted with the McMinnville shop. I had brought some out-of-town guests to experience a good burger, but that's where the bottom fell out. !st. Many of the tables required cleaning ( crumbs and food being left behind). 2nd. The condiment station was a mess, the ketchup container was very low, and it was mainly pumping air. Next, there were no extra napkins at the station. I stood to get the attention of one of the workers to get some extra napkins for my guest, that is when a worker who said her name was Morgan informed me that she had put up signs to block off an area that I wasn't allowed in. I told her I wanted some napkins, and there were none at the station. I'm pretty sure that she could have grabbed a handful, yet she pointed out the signs again, then she went to the cupboard to get some only to find an empty case in there, after a trip to the back room she had a new case, as I was still standing there she couldn't hand me any, I had to wait for her to fill the station in a manner with exaggeration. Now it had been raining today, so let me just visit those signs again. They were 'CAUTION WET FLOOR' and a few more signs spread around in different parts of the store. Ive been calling for a month to speak to a manager about a refund for an order I never received. Nancy has not called me back to talk about my order or getting a refund. Multiple employees are aware of what's going on but there is never a manger actually in the building to help. They say all they can do is give Nancy my number again. Apparently all of the employees got in trouble for saying I deserve a refund for food I never received. I don't know how she runs a business this way. Horrible ownership. read more

Been wanting to try this place for a while. Can by for lunch at like 1:30pm, places pres for burger and fries and shake. Well oh my it was almost $16.00.. the wait was about 20 minutes, at least they made my shake while I stood there and I had that to drink while waiting for my food. The shake was yummy and the Frieda where great but the burger was not great. I only eat about 3/4 of and threw it out. And had more fries. They give about what seems like 3lbs of fries. First time here... loved it!!! Loved that all burger toppings (except cheese and bacon) come free. I got grilled mushrooms and grilled onions on a Beyond burger lots of sauce too... so good. My husband got a beef patty and also liked his. Vegetarian friendly. The large fries came in a huge bag that my husband and I shared. We had extra despite sharing the bag. Tried Nancy Jo's on a whim. Saw the sign on the freeway and needed a restroom break so we decided to try it. I usually research places first on Yelp, but didn't do so this time. I'm so glad! Based on some of these reviews, I may have opted for another lunch option. Our experience was great! Employee who took our order was friendly and helpful, explaining our options and letting us know that the paper bags of fries come stuffed. We both ordered bacon cheeseburgers, shared a regular sized bag of fries and a chocolate milkshake. Burgers: nice sized juicy beef patty. Bun was soft and grilled to a nice crisp. Bacon was thick and good quality. We had several options for cheese. I chose cheddar and my husband chose pepper jack. Very good, filling burgers! Fries: delicious, hot, fresh-cut fries. I loved my burger but I REALLY loved the fries. Milkshake - we got chocolate. Made with real ice cream. I prefer chocolate shakes made w vanilla and add chocolate syrup. Messed up our order more than once the last time they barely a single cup of fries when we ordered a large fries. Part of me feels like a retaliation from the cooks when I showed up about 15 minutes or early to pick up my order. when I asked if my order was ready they said " I should know better than to ask" good luck trying to reach anybody in management they will not return their Facebook messages or phone calls. No corporate email no way to reach anybody any any kind of management position. I was a huge fan of this place when it first opened and left good reviews and spoke highly of them. My husband loves the burgers here. I am on the fence regarding the food. Tonight, he had the cheese burger, and I had the German corn dog. We also ordered the chili cheese fries. The fries were soggy, but the chili had some heat. Of course, my husband loved his burger. My German corn dog was mediocre but passable. However the real problem is the blonde girl at the front counter. I am not clear why she has such a salty attitude. Are used to love this place. I've been going for years and probably at least once a week or close to it. The food quality has gone down over the years since before Covid. However, it got to a point where it was starting to taste good again, even though it wasn't the same quality. Even when people have said bad things about this place, I have stood up for it. Even before Covid, the price is rose, and shortly after the price is rose again, and they have continued to rise and the amount you got continue to get smaller as well. Everything else has been consistent in timing. The awesome customer service, and every other factor has been awesome. But as you can see in my picture, they no longer use seeded buns, which is fine, but some people might complain about that. I included a picture that was from four years ago that goes to show that the size was much bigger back then of the burger as you can see in my picture it's not even close and the sad part is is my meat still did not fit this bun I still had more bun than meat. The same crew works there and they are amazing and I am sad to say that I am so disappointed in the quality of size and cost that I can get the same burger for the same price somewhere else at a sit down restaurant. It just truly saddens me because I really love this place but it's not worth the money if everything is going to go up and everything in size wise goes down just like everything at the grocery store right now. I'm supposed to enjoy eating out that's the point of eating out but I find major disappointment and hurt my pocket. Unfortunately everyone's going to blame Covid and that's fine. Unbelievably bad service. My wife and I stopped at the Keizer NJ's to get a quick hot dog before a doctor's appointment. A friend had told me their dogs are pretty good. After 20 minutes, asked what was taking so long. They said they serve orders in the order they are received. Well, there were only three other people waiting in there. After 40 minutes, I told them I have to leave for a medical appointment and requested my money back. The worker gave me a wry look and said, "Write your name and phone number on here," while sliding a slip of paper towards me and slapping a pen on it, "and a manager will get back to you in the next few days about your refund." Was going to stop by In-n-Out since we were in town, but the line was too long. Family members have always told us that Nancy Jo's is better so we decided to check it out. We saw that we could order online, so we opted to do that. Our order took a while...around 30 minutes. The fries are HUGE...the burgers are decent. I like that you have several fixin's to choose from without added cost. Similar to a Five Guys. I would say about three and a half stars, but knocked a half a star off for the wait. No photos due to the wait, me being hungry and getting back to the house to eat because no dine in. I was hungry :) I will probably come here again. read more

We went out of our way off I-5 on our way back to Washington to try this small, Salem, OR chain. We'd tried In-N-Out in Keizer two weeks before, and that WAS good, but the fries were dried out and the place was jam packed. Nancy Jo's has gotten some mixed reviews, but we thought our bacon cheese burgers were excellent, with tender beef and lots of fixings to choose from. A "regular" side of French fries was HUGE, more than we could eat, as were the EXCELLENT onion rings. We brought home enough of each to freshen up in our air fryer another day. I do nit like to give bad reviews. So consider this one merely tepid. I will not be back to Nancy Jo's. I read her statement on the quality and I want to ask, when is the last time you actually went on site for quality check? The service was lacking, though barely anyone was in there. I paid for mushrooms I never received on my mediocre burger. Bland patty without much flavor, skimpy lettuce, invisible onion, mushy tomato though I requested it "fully dressed." Not even a pickle slice to be seen. As for those buns, they tasted like store bought white to me, but sure, they may gave been made right there. I removed mine after a couple of bites because it sogged out even though I had a "dry" bun. My overall impression is of a local landmark place living on its outdated reputation. Sorry, Nancy J. I was really hungry. You might want to up your game. I get incredible burgers, grass fed and delicious, for much less money, at a little hole in the wall in Douglas County called the Narrows. Stop by and see how its done. I will say the fries weren't greasy, which is important. But no soda water, real lemonade, or even juice to drink if you're not into beer, shakes, or sugary pop. I'm just a hair shy of a 5 for some reason--perhaps the feel of the place. It's a burger joint with what I expect--righteous burgers and as good as it gets. We all got something different, a hot dog, Beyond Burger, and a double cheese. We all got what we expected and a bit more. Thanks, it's a toss-up between another national franchise (not the new one with the wacky arrow BTW). But I'd prefer to shop local given the choice. Comparing, the double cheese is an oz bigger than the other place, but the other place environment just feels nicer in terms of appearance and the staff are more engaged with the customers. What a surprise! Wanted to go to the In&Out but that had traffic controllers there were so many cars. We decided not to wait. Then we stumble upon this place and see we can go inside. The employees were very friendly. They were following all the COVID suggestions. This is now one of my suggested "Must Try" places. It does have signs up that they have received ranking as the best burger on the outside and inside of the building. We did dine-inside. Finally, a real hamburger! Working in the area I yelped this burger joint. Only 10 people allowed in at one time due to Coronavirus. So I can't really comment too much on the dining experience. Bathrooms were ok. not great. Soap dispenser was broken so you needed to squeeze the soap from the bottle which was more than likely a condiment bottle. But hey, I was all right with it, the most important was there was soap, hot water, and single use towels. We sat outside, they had a few table and chairs and it was a very nice sunny day. I had heard mixed reviews about this place. But when my boyfriend said he wanted to go there, I willingly went and was a bit surprised. You have a real basic but great burger diner menu. I don't eat bread so I went with a chicken salad bowl. It came with everything! I was surprised at the size compared to the price of just under $7. It was fresh and great. My boyfriend ordered a double cheeseburger. It was huge and the toppings... well the options were almost endless. But he ordered a "SMALL" fry. I said no make it a medium and I will share with you.
