Listen - we were starving driving to Bend and Mill City was the closest city so after a quick Yelp search decided on Eddy's Phillys. If you're looking for a design aesthetic, you won't find it here. It's your typical roadside fare - it's kitschy with autographed walls and ceiling tiles. The menu has photographs next to the register. This is "No Frills " but the cook and front staff were nothing but nice and friendly. My husband and I split the classic cheesesteak with rosemary fries and a peanut butter and chocolate milkshake. The milkshake came out - tasted like vanilla not peanut butter but we went with it. Our favorite part - it came with a large wide straw, score. Somewhere between a 3 and a 4 but half scores aren't allowed. Prices are decent ($11 - $14 for regular sandwich), especially given prices at other carts at The Yard. Large bun for cheesesteak sandwich but wished there was more steak to fill the bun. Sautéed onions were a nice touch as was the melted cheese. Seasoning was good too. Wasn't impressed with my Philly Cheesesteak! Very little steak and mostly all onions. Which were crunchy, not carmelized. Very little filling to bun ratio and ate dry. I will not be ordering from this food truck again. Would love to try some of the other food trucks at the Yard though! Great ambiance at the yard though with the indoor seating. Came to The Yard and decided I wanted to try this place out along with my sister who's never had a cheesesteak before. So once we go them I did inform her that these aren't like any I've had before simply because of the bread. It's a completely open sandwich rather than being closed on one side, which makes it a little easier to eat. That being said, they completely overloaded up these sandwiches, in a good way. I absolutely loved all the mushrooms. The were big slices and didn't get lost in the mix. The bread was nice and soft, meat tender and delicious. She wanted fries, and she enjoyed them. I also got onion rings which were good. I thought the price a little steep for just onion rings (even accounting for the increase in prices lately), but hey, If you can have better margins on an item more power to you. I would suggest they use a smaller container to make it look like a bigger portion. It's all about perception and a really empty big box doesn't look like nearly as good a deal as a small one that's full. Just sayin. Overall I would definitely get another sandwich, but would pass on the sides. read more

Stopped by Eddy's food truck at The Yard this afternoon to try his Cheesesteak Sandwich. Earlier this summer I had cheesesteak at Epilogue a dine-in establishment in downtown Salem. Both were filling, great-tasting meals. Eddy's was hotter and done sooner...as you should expect from a well-managed food truck. Beef was cut differently. Epilogue had larger amount of meat. Eddy's Classic includes cheese, grilled onions, green peppers, mushrooms on a fresh soft white bun. The the generous portion of beef was thinly sliced. Ordered fries and Diet Coke. To start, friend and I were standing a few feet back looking at the menu - around the guy refilling the refrigerated drinks. The cook acknowledged us letting us know he was available for questions. In my opinion, better than just being ignored as we were clearly looking at his menu. I was actually ordering to-go and brought home the Teriyaki Philly for my husband. Listen, I dont like giving poor reviews because I dont want to hurt someone's way of providing for their family, but at the same time I need to be honest. I'm a big food lover, having gone to culinary school decades ago at the Art Institute I like to think I know a bit about cooking. Philly steaks are my 2nd favorite food after sushi and so I thought I'd give this place a chance. After paying $10.99 for a steak and $6.00 for bacon cheese fries and $2.00 for a 16.9oz Soda I would expect more not in volume but in quality. The Steak: NO FLAVOR, NO FLAVOR, NO FLAVOR.....my fries were saltier than my steak. Let me say this and of course this is personal opinion. Season your meat. That is culinary 101 and at minimum salt and pepper your steak. The cheese was just laid atop the meat contrary to a traditional steak where its melted in the meat. The hoagie however was the best part, soft and fairly spot on. The Fries: It looked like they used a Mexican cheese blend, maybe a couple ounces. The bacon in my opinion was under cooked. When I think of Bacon Cheese fries I think the Bacon should be nice and brown with crunch not flimsy like I'm eating menudo. In my opinion a cheese whiz or nacho sauce would be much better but, again that's my opinion. I hope they will listen to these reviews and take them seriously so they can continue to improve and grow. read more

Middle of the road with this place: not the best cheesesteak I've had, but certainly not the worst either. I tried the Jalapeño Cheese Steak ($11.50). Similar to what another review said, not a TON of flavor in this sandwich. Obviously it's spicy with the jalapeños, but once you're done eating it you realize there wasn't much taste. Feeling ripped off and really disappointed that we wasted our hard earned money here. I ordered a French dip. The gross fake cheese was overwhelming.. I'll leave it at that. We paid 10.00 on " Garlic Fries" as we thought.... Mmmmm garlic fries and man they're 10.00?? They must be fantastic!! Nope. They are Ore Ida steak fries with a large glob of cold Jared minced garlic thrown on top of the barely warm fries. I had been to The Yard on three separate occasions, on all different days and times, to try this food truck. All 3 times they were closed. Wasn't sure if this place was ever actually open. Then finally, on the fourth trip, it was! I wish it hadn't been. It wasn't a Philly Cheesesteak, it was a flavorless sandwich shaped food stuff made up of the components usually in a Philly Cheesesteak. The "Garlic Fries" were frozen from a bag, the cheap variety, and still cold in the middle. I'm not sure how you charge 11.00 for a sandwich made up of the cheapest store bought ingredients you can find and another $10 for specialty fries that are the cheapest frozen store bought fries possible with a shot of some type of garlic sauce on top. Spent $32 on lunch, plus a $7 tip, and would've had better quality and taste buying Philly cheesesteaks from the frozen section at a grocery store. The people running this dump are money hungry, rude, passionless food truck owners giving Philly cheesesteaks and food trucks a bad rap. read more
