I have been wanting to trying them sandwichs here for a hot minute. I was able to talk my coworkers into it. We ordered online and I went to pick it up. It is in an industrial park. So definitely off the beaten path. I got back to the office and I couldn't wait to dig in. First off my order was correct! Second it smelled amazing. I had a chicken sandwich, 1 coworker had a turkey with provolone, the other a Ruben. All three sandwichs we absolutely outstanding. The only down side is they are not open on weekends and i cant get it door dashed. but I will make every effort to go go back.

I have been looking for something like this for YEARS here. But I never thought to use "new york deli" in my search terms. today in the nextdoor app someone suggested I use yelp to find a local italian deli. At first I thought to myself Ok you're just being a smart***. But then..I found this place. My mother drank RC [ask me when the last time I saw RC in ANY food place was..decades!]. And it smelled like my local neighborhood bakery back in Chicago..so I thought maybe? just maybe.. I had a shot at finding GOOD lunch meat instead of the local fare at the grocery stores here because they can't even pronounce half of what we need [not their issue though]. So.. I headed over. It's local..it smelled AWESOME inside..so friendly.. I couldn't even wait until I got home to rip open the lunch meat. IM NOT MAD..that's all im going to say. I don't care what your name is..you're MY italian deli now. Mia familia..try it. Just try it..you won't go back to the deli counter at roths or safeway.

The sandwiches here were amazingly delicious! We drove up here from California and had just finished a 7 mile hike, my husband and I wanted a deli sandwich and man they did not disappoint! My husband got the #5 and I got the #8 with avocado and cucumbers so freaking good. Best sandwiches I have had even back in California. The customer service was great too they were so welcoming and caring!

Nothing better that searching "Best Deli Sandwich in Salem" and it turns out to be "The BEST Sandwich in Salem". We stopped in at Cozzie's NY Deli in Salem and the hype is well deserved. We were greeted promptly and with a great smile. We got there just before lunch rush and they were clearly primed and ready. I ordered the #11 Pinocchio- a classic and FANTASTIC Pastrami on toasted marbled Rye with a delicious slaw and dressing. He ordered a #4 Gabagool - a massive Italian meat sandwich loaded with tasty peppers on a soft hoagie roll. Both sandwiches came with a fresh crisp pickle. We got our sandwiches fairly quickly, while they kept up with the stream of online and called in orders as well as walk-ins. We were even sent on our way with "Have a great rest of your day!" It all worked like a well-oiled machine with a smile! The seating area is on the smallish side, but most of their clientele appeared to be from the many businesses around, so many were getting it to go. It is a very well kept Deli. Plenty of parking and easy to find. Restrooms were also clean and in good repair. This was the perfect place to stop for a lunch when we needed to travel through Salem. We will be remembering this spot for the next time we need to grab a bite in Salem.

Got back here and tried the Cheesesteak and the Pinocchio sandwich. The Pinocchio consists of pastrami, cole slaw, swiss, and Russian dressing on marble rye bread. So good! I ordered the Cheesesteak with (grilled) onions and it was rich and moist on good, chewy bread. Both were delicious, with good bread, flavorful meats, and awesome cheeses/sauces. Highly recommended!

Meatballs and gravy! Savory goodness! Oh and that pickle was delish too! Ma's meatball Wedge

Ask the Community - Cozzie's NY Deli

Do they grill any of the sandwiches or are they all cold?

Yes we do! Typically the Reuben and pastrami sandwiches, the chicken parmigiana sandwich and the meatball sandwich are grilled but we also can make almost any sandwich grilled.

I was curious about the name of the place, so I looked up its history online. I learned that the bakery was founded by Gerry Frank and Barney Rogers, and that Konditorei (pronounced kone-de-tore-eye) is German for cake or pastry shop. The Konditorei first opened in 1982, originally offering gourmet cakes along with a small food menu. Over the years, the business has grown significantly. In addition to their cakes, cookies, cheesecakes, tortes, and pastries, they now offer a lunch menu from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This includes a quiche of the day, soup of the day, meat lasagna, as well as salads and sandwiches. While the location is now owned by others, it's clear they continue to carry on the tradition and spirit of the original bakery. All of the sweet items are displayed in large cases where you can browse and select exactly what you want. When we arrived, it wasn't very busy. A few tables were occupied, but we were able to walk right up to the counter to view the selection and place our order. We chose a variety of desserts, and everything was packaged neatly for us to take home. Later in the day, when we enjoyed our desserts together, we were all very impressed. It was a great way to celebrate a birthday, and the quality of the desserts definitely lived up to the reputation.
