Some notable trys are the garlic shrimp, squid ink pasta, and their signature brussel sprouts! Ambiance was lively but cozy in feel! Highly recommended!

The stark difference in our second experience was night and day, making this visit truly exceptional. The cozy and romantic aesthetic of the restaurant remains fantastic, and the food and drink menu is still absolutely amazing. This time, however, we had the pleasure of being seated downstairs in Tiffany's section, and she was beyond stellar. Tiffany is the definition of exceptional service. She gave us a complete, helpful rundown of how they structure their tapas menu, offered fantastic recommendations, and was incredibly attentive throughout the evening. We had a great time chatting with her and her professionalism and warmth instantly made our return worthwhile. Her suggestions were perfect--she expertly helped us select a great wine and recommended the black ink pasta, which was a showstopper. Cozy Taberna, when paired with service like Tiffany's, is easily a 5-star restaurant. From now on, we will only return if we can be seated in her section!

I ordered the Thịt Kho Tàu which was a very tasty dish with caramelized pork, egg, and special seasonings served over rice and garnished with cucumber. They are only offering this special for one week so try and stop in before Saturday 2/21/26 The Resturant was decorated with some traditional decor in celebration of the occasion and, as always, Jen provided excellent service.

There is a sense of warmth and intentionality in everything they do, making every visit feel like a special occasion. The food is absolutely to die for, particularly their signature items. The Wild Pear Salad is a masterclass in balance, featuring fresh greens and the perfect hint of sweetness from the pears. However, the absolute showstopper is the Coconut Curry Butternut Squash soup. It is velvety, rich, and has just the right amount of aromatic spice to make it unforgettable. It is the kind of dish you find yourself thinking about days after you have finished it. Beyond those specific favorites, it seems like you really cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Every dish is prepared with high quality ingredients and a clear level of expertise in the kitchen. Whether you are stopping in for a quick lunch or a leisurely dinner, the quality remains top tier. I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for fresh, vibrant flavors in a quaint setting.

Iona took special care to offer recommendations on each page of the menu. I love loved the drinks. The first one I tried had watermelon and chocolate, among other things. After taking my first sip, I started talking and stopped mid-sentence because my taste buds were doing something interesting. Hard to describe, but what an experience! I ordered a 2nd recommended drink that was so yummy. I think it has "passport" in its name. The food was also delicious. I especially enjoyed the fried chicken skin. It had just the right amount of sweetness. Oh and the cornbread dipped in honey was bombbbb. My favorite part about this place was the library. The Library of Black Excellence. What a wonderful, welcoming little space. They incentivize patrons to borrow and read their books with free meals! Wonderful idea! Also, they offer a 20% discount on Thursdays for educators. And to top it all off, they won't turn you away for not having the financial means to pay. I will be back. Love love love

The primary problem was that they were out of many menu items by 6pm. The dining room is cool with a nice vibe, super friendly waiter and food came from the kitchen pretty quickly. Pimento cheese appetizer was delicious, one of the better versions I've had. Unfortunately the Pierogi were pretty bland and nothing special, and for the high price, just not worth it. Weird arrangement with the coffee shop located in the restaurant as well. Restaurant was out of desserts and coffee, but could not serve any of the desserts from the coffee shop case, as those were part of the coffee shop. Despite that, we will be back next time we visit Salem, and I'm sure they will figure out how to manage supply of food items better so they are not sold out before 6pm. Lots of potential here for a small neighborhood restaurant.
