I was going to do a Yelp review then but decided not to, thinking this may have just been a one-off incident. Today, August 31, 2026, I ordered through Wendy's app, 2 ten-piece nuggets and a taco salad for drive-thru pickup. I arrived at the store 15 minutes later and was told by the drive-thru window person (a younger Asian woman) to park at the front of the store and that my order would be brought to my car. Watching numerous cars being served and after waiting for almost 15 minutes, I walked into the store. As I approached the counter, the same young woman who told me to park, looked at me. I asked her how much longer my order was going to take, but she turned away and started to work on filling drinks, ignoring my question, and avoided looking in my direction. Instead of assisting me or asking another worker to help me, she simply turned away. A few seconds later, another worker approached me asking if I needed help. After explaining what was happening, she spoke to the first girl, who again didn't appear to be concerned and continued doing other things. At tis point, I flagged down the manager, Solo, and told him that I was still waiting for my order for now, almost 20 minutes. He checked the computer for my order and asked if I had already gotten the salad. I told him I hadn't received anything, so he began to fill my order. He apologized and told me I could get a free meal on my NEXT visit. Sadly, I told hm I didn't think I'd be visiting that store again. Checking my order when I returned to my car, I found a single box of twenty-piece nuggets instead of 2 ten-piece nuggets (the nuggets were for two people at different locations, so I had to divide them evenly, keeping 10 in the box and dumping 10 into a package. Instead of the taco salad, I got a Caesar salad. Frustrated and irritated, I decided against going back into the store and just kept the order. We've been long time repeat customer at this location (Waipio Store), but after going through this ordeal, I'll drive the extra miles and visit a different Wendy's. This Wendy's store lacks proper customer skills and serves subpar salads. I will also be sending this to Wendy's Corp through the app.

Today, I decided to take a chance and try Subway's Doritos Nachos, and I was hopeful that they would surprise me. I ordered online to pick up and go, but the experience was disappointing. When I arrived, I was expecting a friendly smile and a warm welcome, but no one greeted me, and the two women working didn't even acknowledge my presence as I grabbed my order. Despite being a frequent customer, I stopped going because of the consistently poor service and the inconsistency in the way my food was prepared. However, I was determined to give Subway another chance since I was trying something new. To my surprise, the nachos were a letdown. The steak content was minimal, and I had more jalapeño than steak. I had requested a small amount of onion, but it was loaded with it. To top it off, I had paid an extra $1.50 for guacamole, but I only received a small, empty container. When i walked in the store, i was immediately greeted with a smile by these two very kind young men. They seemed to only be in high school but they have manners unlike other children their age I didn't feel rushed at all and the boy making my sandwich was very respectful and helped me pick what kind of sandwich to get. I got the elite chicken bacon ranch and also added avocado (highly recommend it was soooo ono). He never once looked disinterested or bored while making my sandwich, just a warm smile the whole way through. The music they were playing also made me feel at home. They were playing hawaiian local kine music and not any of that new pop junk that most stores have on. When I went to leave, both of the boys told me to have a great night which really made me smile. The 3 Finger Combo is a deconstructed chicken sandwich with a thick slice of Texas toast instead of a bun. For $1.70 more you can opt for The Box Combo, which adds a side of coleslaw and a fourth chicken finger. A side of coleslaw alone is $1.59 so The Box Combo is a worthwhile upgrade if you're hungry (or sharing). I've had so many bad experiences at other fast food restaurants, but at Caine's, the chicken is always fresh, the fries are always hot, the service is friendly, and the dining room is always clean.
