The burrata was beautifully plated and perfect on its own with just a fork, no bread needed. But let me go back a second to the cocktail I ordered. The Green genie was light and refreshing. Maybe not your typical December drink but I was intrigued by the pineapple basil infused lemonade. Not a sweet drink kinda girl, I will say this was perfectly balanced and definitely not too sweet. That hint of basil came through in every sip! Definitely recommend. The brisket with mashed potatoes, and vegetables was plated so uniquely- truly a pleasure to behold for the senses. Now for the taste... tender and lightly smoked. The BBQ sauce is a delicious compliment and not overpowering. I decided that it was impossible to choose desserts so I ordered both the honey cake AND the hidden gem. People!! Save room for dessert! The hidden gem is a fun dessert and the pistachio filling is creamy and light. The honey cake is gorgeous, light and the layers are just perfectly even. I would liken it to a crepe cake. My kids will be happy I'm bringing them home a taste of it! The attention to detail, the cocktails, music and the flavor of the food at the Owl's Nest is definitely worth seeking out for lunch or dinner.

The staff couldn't be friendlier; they make you feel like a regular even if it's your first time walking in. Even if you're just stopping by for a quick coffee, it's worth it. And the pepperoni rolls? A must-grab to go. Seriously, don't leave without one (or two or a dozen ;) ). This place just has that warm, small-town charm that keeps you coming back.

MY FAVORITE BREAKFAST IN PITTSBURGH/THE STATE/AND 2ND OF ALL TIME…read more Everything here was fucking perfect and it was just all staple diner food in the best version possible. Absolutely nothing crazy (minus the French toast) that is just NAILED. And THE PRICES are so awesome The Hot Mess. Massive, loaded and delicious. That's not an omelette either.. that's their scrambled eggs loaded with potatoes and smothered it their insane sausage gravy. The biscuits with it. Right out the oven fresh, so soft, not dry in the slightest and honestly didn't even need anything on it. The corned beef hash was probably the best I've had. I never had it was such a great crisp/crunch to it. That is my new standard for corned beef hash The pancakes. The best in Pittsburgh and my top 3-5 of all time. I hate the hotcake style which you see in Pittsburgh MINUS the crisp with it. But I don't want that throughout the entire thing, I still want my fluff. This delivered that PERFECTLY. Great crisp on just the edges and the fluff in the middle. Absolutely perfect THE BOSTON CREME FRENCH TOAST. My second favorite breakfast item I've gotten in Pittsburgh. You will rarely see me get French Toast unless it's recommended a decent bit or just looks nuts. THIS is my favorite French toast I've had and I hate Boston Creme 90% of the time. It always gets too overfilled, and too sweet of a custard. NOT HERE. The chocolate topping was perfect, not just a basic syrup people buy at the store that is so overpowering. Can 1000% tell homemade. The custard had the perfect amount of sweet ratio for amount they give Warning it's small inside with minimal seating and you will have to wait. I drove 50 for it and waited 35 for a table. I would drive 2 hours and wait another 2. I will be returning numerous times ESPECIALLY when they have the Bear Claw Pancake Special

I completely loved the tuna sub and it honestly made me wonder why I don't order tuna subs more…read moreoften. The flavor was what was really excellent. The way they did the lettuce, tuna, tomato, and whatever sauce they use was really good and very flavorful. It's definitely better than Subway. The only issue was that parts of the bread were a little soggy. It wasn't the whole sandwich, just certain spots, so in a few places I avoided eating the bread and I ended up with a clump of soggy bread in my little hand. I did love that they put cheese on the top for part of it though and I thought the cheese they used really complimented the flavor of the tuna. I also think the cheese helped protect the bread from the moisture in the tuna salad so the cheese for me was nonnegotiable for ensuring the quality of the sub. If anything, adding a little more of that cheese and layering more of it so it fully protected the bread from the moisture in the tuna would have likely prevented the bread from getting soggy. Lightly toasting the bread first might have helped too. Other than that small issue, I was really impressed with this tuna sub. It smelled amazing too, honestly better than most tuna sandwiches I've had. I would definitely order it again.

I asked the guy at the register why they would put the dressing on it and leave it sit there, He was clueless, put the salad in a new bag and gave it back to me. So, now I get home to eat it and it is a total train wreck. Please dont put dressing on a salad in cardboard and let it sit for pick up.... seems common sense?

This was my first time going here and I was so excited to try it out!…read moreI ordered a Munchkin Nutter Butter wrap, a buffalo chicken wrap, and a Vitamin C juice. I ordered online, as recommended, and was disappointed to see the menu provided by the owner had different prices. $2+ more expensive per item than what was shown. That wasn't a deal breaker, I know food costs have gone up, but that added a decent amount to my total. When I went to pick up my food, the restaurant was empty. I stood there for a couple minutes, but no one showed up. I said hello, but no one showed up. I said hello AGAIN, a minute later, but nothing. (Side note: the in restaurant prices match the menu) I called while standing in the restaurant and no one picked up the phone. I waited eight minutes and finally a guy exited the bathroom, asked me if I was there for a pickup, put my juice on the counter and walked away. After getting to my car, I see on top of being charged extra for ordering online, there is also an online ordering fee! I spent over $30 on the three items pictured below. Maybe this was an off day. The juice was decent, so definitely give that a try and go in to order. Save yourself at least $5.
