Straight Fire(house!) It wasn't until about a year ago that I first tried Firehouse Subs. I'm not much of a "sub" guy, so even though I love their product, this review may lack the screwball energy of my typical post. I had passed it several times on my way to/from the doctor's office next door, and when Firehouse appeared on my MileagePlus dining awards, it was time to give them a try. I got the meatball sub for me and one for my son and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The meatballs and sauce were tasty and the bread just hot and crispy enough. In terms of sub shops, Firehouse is tops, not just for the food, but the people working there are very friendly and I dig the concept - founded by firefighters, built with real American entrepreneurial spirit. It doesn't have that assembly line feel that other sub shops have. I never thought, with all of the different sub chains there are - Scrubway, Jersey Mike's, Quizhos, Jimmy Jawn's, etc. that we'd actually need another one - but when it's the best, we absolutely need it! We've not ventured out into any other type of sub at Firehouse yet as we're seemingly always in the mood for meatball when we go. I would love to try the Jamaican jerk turkey, but as someone who loves all foods Caribbean and vacations in Jamaica quite often, if the "Caribbean seasoning" on that sub can come anywhere close to the jerk sauce I get there, I'd be living in that restaurant! So it's out of fear that it may be either too inauthentic or way too good that I haven't tried it yet, but once I figure out the line between disappointment and obsession vis-à-vis submarine sandwiches, I'll give it a try :-) . I have also not tried any form of delivery or ordering ahead, thus my wholehearted recommendation for Firehouse Subs, specifically this location, is for the meatball subs, cookies, and the coca-cola freestyle machine, all of which we've purchased in-person and sometimes eating on premises, which is clean and inviting. And, of course, the really nice people working there is a strong plus when the food is good (but doesn't really matter when it isn't.) read more

Well, all I can say is that I am VERY picky about my hoagies, from the amount of meat they have on them to the freshness of the veggies. I'm here to say that during this COVID-19 Pandemic, Firehouse Subs does not disappoint! Huge portions for the cost, fresh veggies, and well packed. Definitely my favorite sandwich chain of the options we have in the area. Firehouse Subs is great, they have so many options, from your favorite deli classics to some options if you're looking to mix it up. My personal favorite is the turkey bacon ranch, it's always stacked with a good amount of meat, the veggies are usually fresh, and their ranch is pretty good as well. I personally think the portion sizes are great for price, I'm always full after finishing a medium sandwich. Like any other sandwich shop, they have chips, drinks, and cookies. But firehouse also has soup options, I generally find those average and a little salty, but it's a nice addition, especially in the winter. Could not more highly recommend if you're looking a quick and filling lunch in the South Hills. read more

I tried. I really did. I gave them another chance after a long time, hoping that they would have gotten their act together and given accurate pickup times for orders, and were actually timely. Nope. Once again over 15 minutes late as they prepared orders that came in after mine. I get it. You're busy. I don't have an issue with that. After drooling over their TV commercials for years I finally got to try Firehouse Subs. I was starving and in the area so I made my way there. After studying the menu for a few minutes I chose the New York Steamer toasted combo. It features corned beef brisket and pastrami, melted provolone cheese, deli mustard, mayo, and Italian dressing and your choice of chips and fountain drink. There was one guy ahead of me that was picking up a to go order of sandwiches for him and his co workers so I had about a 10 minute wait for my sandwich which was weird to me as there were multiple people working. I don't see why one of the other workers couldn't make my sandwich for me. Once I finally received my sandwich I realize that I made the mistake of not asking for lettuce and tomato as I thought that they would be automatically added to my sandwich as that is how it is pictured on the menu and I was not asked if I wanted them or not. I must say that the sandwich was worth the wait as it was stuffed with meat! The corned beef brisket and pastrami were delicious and the melted provolone cheese was the icing on the cake. Very good food! We come quite a bit for lunch. They usually have a decent amount of people inside dining as well. I always get the Italian sub. So delicious!! Today when we came for lunch, the girl who was sweeping the floors where everyone was dining, was blaring rap music from her phone.. I like rap music and so does my fiancé, but we both agreed that it was obnoxious to listen to while eating out and inappropriate. Even one of her coworkers from behind the desk called over to her and she couldn't hear them over her music. On the other hand, there was a wonderful older woman behind the counter that asked us how our food was after we finished and she was extremely sweet! We've come here for years for food so we ordered food to go to find out half of the people waiting for lunch here had been waiting over an hour for their food. I have 30 minutes to grab lunch which I had placed an order ahead of time so I was stuck. There was a purple haired woman behind the counter screaming her lungs out swearing and screaming Jesus Christ in front of several children and elderly people with a fully packed business. Every single table had people waiting for their food. She refused to offer refunds for those who had to go back to work, one being an actual fire fighter, whom she was extremely disrespectful to. It was appalling and we will never be coming back to this location EVER. I strongly suggest management does something to better coordinate the kitchen and gets rid of the woman who likes to scream and have tantrums behind the counter like a 9 year old. read more

Attempted to order five subs online for pick up. Went through the whole process and submitted order. There was no verification the order went through so I called the place. The woman put me on hold but left the speaker on. I could hear her take an order, and then another order, and then another order. I was on hold for over five minutes and never was spoken to again. I am very disappointed. I have been at work since 5:30 this morning and by middle of the day I was famished. My coworkers and I decided we were going to order from one of our favorite lunch time restaurants (a decision we would later regret). After the 20 minute commute, we opened the bags as our stomachs growled in anticipation, only to notice our order was WRONG: the sandwich was on the wrong bread, the pickles weren't wrapped and the cookie was an oatmeal one (NOT chocolate chip as requested). The pickle juice made the sandwich bread soggy. The only positive thing from this order was the mac and cheese. It was delightful. read more

Firehouse opened in this location, which is very near where I live, about a year ago. While I've not been avoiding it, exactly, I have a favorite sub shop in Jimmy John's, with Quiznos a close runner up, so just never felt the need to come here. That changed yesterday when I got so caught up staining the fence in my yard that I failed to notice lunch time had arrived. With my faves both a 20 minute drive away, I headed over to the closest choice. I like the lively decor of this sub shop, with its bright red walls and chairs, and black and white dalmation themed table tops. The staff was prompt to greet and serve, and I ordered up a large turkey sub for Doug and The Engineer for myself, which features turkey, provolone and mushrooms, with the usual lettuce, tomato, onion, mustard and mayo (they ask if you want all of these things). They offer both white and whole wheat bread, and I went for the whole wheat. My sandwich was fine, not great, with a sub roll that was a little too soft for my taste and canned mushrooms, which would stop me from ordering this particular sandwich in the future. They do heat the subs, which I like, and they pack in the ingredients, so no complaint on that front. I still think Jimmy John's and Quiznos are better. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This place is terrible. I get that its just a sandwich shop, but they cant even do that right. It literally took them 15 or more minutes to make my sub. There was no one else in line. And only two people in the shop. It's a really tacky looking dump. At least it was clean. My sub tasted worse than Subway but cost more. Don't waste your money here. For the record, I ordered the Turkey Bacon and Ranch sub. It was flavorless. Utterly Flavorless, and my sub wasn't toasted nearly enough. read more

My new favorite sub shop! I am not even sure I would have found it had it not been for the firehouse dogs (teens dancing is a) handing out promotional coupons at the intersection. The staff is very friendly, as all customers are greeted with a "Welcome to firehouse" when walking in the door. I was extremely impressed with the high quality bread and meats used for their subs. Additionally, the boss was very friendly and spoke to use specially about our experience. They offer 50 types of hot sauce ranked on how hot they are (one was a PSU brand). Confirmation from grubhub said could be 20 to 40 mins wait. Will be notified when firehouse subs confirms or if there was a problem. I arrived at fire house subs about 10 mins after ordering. I waited another another 25 minutes in my car. No word from either party. I decided to go in to ask if my order was fulfilled, I saw the bag on rack for pick up. It had the time on the receipt when I ordered. I showed the girl the receipt, I asked, when was this order processed, she said about 30 to 35 minutes ago. So, don't order from Grubhub, best go in, order your food direct from them and inform them you prefer to go back out to your car and ask them how you will be notified when it is ready for pick up. Then when it did come it had items that were not supposed to be on it and were impossible to pick off so I ended up tossing the whole thing. Next, they completely forgot the chips that I paid for. The girl I spoke to said that it was a miscommunication and that it happens all the time. She said maybe it wasn't clear and I told her that I had repeated the order several times to make sure they got it right. She again said it was a miscommunication. Really surprised. If not for that, I would give five stars. But customer service is huge and the four teenagers working there don't understand what it is. read more

We were looking for someplace new to get delivery from. Checked the Fireplace Sub website, and after inputting our address, it showed it well within their 5-mile delivery radius. Complaints-- Food arrived over an hour after I ordered it. Delivery driver BERATED me because we were 5.5 miles away and not to order again if they were busy. Ordered a large Italian for pickup. Order was wrong when I originally picked it up. To make things better when I came home I opened my sub to see that they didn't put any meat on my sub, only lettuce and tomato. When I called the store to see what had happened they were very unprofessional and one was laughing at me about the situation. After them making it out to seem like I am the bad guy for asking why they just gave me bread, lettuce and tomato instead of my order, they finally offered to refund my sub. (Not my order, just my sub) It remains to be seen whether they will follow through on that but I will never plan on coming back to this location or company for that matter after that experience. I understand that, "employees have bad days and forget things," as the one employee I spoke to scolded me, but this seems more of a prank to me. Extremely unprofessional service and employees. Have never been one to leave reviews let alone poor ones like this but this experience has to be one of the worst in terms of customer experience I have ever seen. Well decided to try all the hype behind the Firehouse subs. I can honestly say I was disappointed in the subs! Nothing close the picture offered in the menu. I had a smokehouse beef & cheddar brisket. For the amount of $$$$ I figured I'd be eating the other half later....HOWEVER, what I received was a sub standard sub. At sheetz or Get n Go you get a Hugh sub for that $$$, the taste was no better than either one of the above mentioned. Save your $$$$ eat somewhere else. read more
