The fall of DiBella's has occurred. This sucks, because they used to be so good! I don't even consider this a "Dibella's" anymore. Their cookies got tiny, their dressing is no longer fresh and tastes like some congealed gross mixture that would be safe to eat in a fallout shelter for 100 years (it's now produce by some budget distributor), and, their subs have been significantly reduced in size to the point they are worse than Subway. Yeah, let that sink in. It looks like the sub length is the same, they just cut out the width and limited the toppings to basically nothing. I ordered a large sub for my kids to split, been a bit since I visited, got home, and my wife and I looked at it like wtf happened? We quietly said to each other "don't make a big deal about it and they won't notice," but, they did. My oldest was wondering where the other half of his sub was, I was like, that was your entire half. DiBella's got cheap. Sad to say RIP to this business from my standpoint, but for the price point, and the cuts they made to their customers for profit, they are deeply disturbing. I hope I'm not dragged back again. I'm annoyed at how they think this is an acceptable product given their roots....yes, I'm from Rochester NY, and have been to the original. I hope this location closes and something better takes its place. As a side note, if you visit a Wegmans, they worked with DiBella's for their initial sub recipe. They are still really good. Haven't been to DiBella's in awhile as there are so many sub shops in our area but my wife reminded me how good the godfather used to be so I picked one up and a cheesesteak to split. The service was okay and the place was pretty busy so I figured we had been missing out. We got two 7" subs and 2 fountain drinks and our bill was $27. What the what??? When I got the subs home and we unwrapped them my daughter who was eating Chipotle made a comment, "wow, that's a lot of bread." Lots of flavor, skimpy on the meat and mostly bread for $$$. [Missed lunch so I ordered the medium - very large sandwich.] On my way to pay the cashier, who also took my order, I grabbed a pickle out of the cooler. Asked the 2 employees at the grill if they could cut the pickle into SPEARS for me ... first response blank stare ... then one employee says I don't think we do that ... the other person says (long pause) ok. Please see their interpretation of pickle spears. I arrive at the cashier. He had already entered my order in and took my phone number. I sat down to enjoy my pickle CHUNKS while I waited for my sandwich. Online order pick up and another walk-in arrive. Never received a number. Was the ONLY customer and the person taking my order and payment was the same person. He put a sandwich on the counter and walked away. After a while, I got up and asked about my sandwich. I was in the mood for a sub and had never tried Dibella's. I had a large Italian assorted on sesame bread with lettuce tomato pickle and mustard. The store was clean and big and very nice looking. The staff where friendly and the service was excellent and fast. The sub was just ok, The bread was the best part unfortunately. The meat was just ok and the price was a bit higher than most other sub shops. i would give it 5 stars for its fast friendly service but overall can't give them more than 3 stars as the sub was just ok nothing special at all. One 7" sub had 2 slices of tomato on the whole thing, one slice per half. There was barely any lettuce and only a few strings of onions. The other sub was unrecognizable given it's name on the menu. I finally had a chance to stop in here over the weekend to find out what their subs were all about and to see what makes them old-fashioned. The old-fashioned connection for me was the vintage décor of the dining room and the huge high counter where your order is taken. Other than that I am not sure if it has anything to do with the subs. Curious to know differently. I thought the sub was decent in size and tasted OK but it didn't stand out as anything different or unique. The bun was good-tasting but it was very oversized in comparison to the ingredients inside. I couldn't even see if there was any cheese on the sandwich and I barely could taste any of the steak because it was all overpowered by the bread.
