When I write reviews, I'm brutally honest. I prefer to give my readers the unadulterated truth. But…read moreeven with my lofty standards, there isn't a single blemish during my wonderful visit to Rocky Branch Market that would tarnish their perfect streak of five-star online reviews! Make it 88 for 88. How is any business able to maintain such impeccable ratings? It's almost impossible to stay above a 4.7 average, much less have nothing but fives! First, it's an adorable little Amish-run store with a deli. It's packed with homemade candies and locally sourced peanut butter buckeyes that are literal perfection. The impossibly soft dinner rolls, the homemade sourdough bread, and the produce are equally spectacular! Second, these are the friendliest most welcoming people you'll ever meet. And third, the deli sandwiches are exactly what they should be in every way, quintessentially crafted with high quality meats, cheeses, and toppings between the softest bread, all carefully created on the spot. You won't believe how many deli products they offer, all from Walnut Foods in Ohio delivered weekly. You can create your own masterpiece of a sandwich here with millions of possible combinations. This was so worth the two-hour round trip drive from Nashville!

The deli has fantastic prices for sandwiches and they also offer hot soups. You can get all your canned goods here as well as some fresh produce. I suspect come spring there will be a greater supply, but still; fresh is fantastic. I love their selection of baked goods as well as the pantry items. They are friendly and the store is clean. We will be shopping here often.

You'll…read morefind the charming delicatessen and shop on the north side of US 70 in the west end of McEwen, TN. Five stars for a road-side business? Yep. This humble establishment is shining full-on and out-classing others in more expensive places (that should be taking notes or otherwise be ashamed of themselves!) Expecting white bread and bologna?? It's there, but part of a menu that offers the best selection of sandwich meats (15 to 20+?,) cheeses, and artisan sandwich breads I've encountered in a long, long time. They simply do it well. I suspect you'll be hard pressed to find anyone else stocked to produce velvety smooth liver loaf on a cheddar and jalapeno bread (not sorry that I was too busy enjoying my meal to snag a pic.) It was not only tasty, it was beautifully done. It's not over-the-top and it's not high-volume. It's clean and truly memorable. There's a variety of sodas, teas, and coffee. Yes, they sell marmalade...and fudge...and top-notch prepared salads to-go...breads, bubblegum cigars...cookies...sauces...and just explore the shelves to find yourself smiling. You're in the country and your mileage is only likely to vary by the road that brought you there. So, enjoy the porch...the picnic table... or your car seat. All orders are for carry-out (no indoor dining.) Take time to smell the flowers and enjoy the potted plants which brighten the place (and are also for sale.)

I've eaten in thousands…read moreof restaurants all over Tennessee and kept hearing other locals in Nashville talk about how incredible it was encouraging me to go . So when my cousin from up north came down, we decided to give it a try. I wanted to show her why I love this area and Nashville is so busy and congested now that I had to find a place she could truly experience the best TN has to offer without the rush and stress of people everywhere. So we headed to The Mason Jar Restaurant in Centerville giving us a beautiful drive to see if the people raving about it were right! She had the chicken Philly, which is a unique southern inspired version on Texas toast and it was killer! I've never seen her finish anything but her plate was clean and I was so grateful the experience lived up to the hype! I ordered the veggie burger which is a chipotle black bean burger on a brioche bun and I couldn't get enough!!! So much so, I ordered one to go and ate it for lunch the next day! This restaurant has the unique charm that is so rare these days where everything seems like a chain or big corporation copy elsewhere. When you dine at MJR you can expect a welcoming environment and incredible service making you feel like part of the family. A gem that is a priceless experience you can only get in the south outside the noise of Nashville. Would recommend it to anyone seeking locally owned charm meets the savory yummy goodness of a clearly well thought out mixture of options this menu has to offer. Head on down as soon as you can as this is one of few places everyone enjoys thankfully living up to its incredible hard earned reputation! Great ambiance service and food which is a triple hitter I was so lucky to find!

Everybody I know loves their Granny's collards best, but I swear that these are truly outstanding. The werewolf was great, I really liked the slaw/collard/mayo synergy, with a generous amount of roast beef. Service was great today, so I am assuming my previous visit was the exception. Every time I pass through (or near to) Columbia, I shall be back.

Ollie and Finn's Counter…read more Tucked away in a little brewery near the Columbia square is this little sandwich shop. I have been recommended this place by multiple people throughout the years and finally got a chance to give it a try. (Well, I say that but mainly because I go to Gold's Deli everytime I'm in Columbia. So it was time to share the love) They have a pretty large menu of various sandwiches, I wish I had grabbed a picture of them. I asked the cashier if she had to pick one sandwich which one would it be, she gave me a list of about 3 that all sounded amazing. The fourth she suggested was if you're overwhelmed or unsure just get the Italian. I LOVE Italian sandwiches so that is what I ended up with. Everything here is fresh so I waited about 5-10 minutes for my sandwich to get made. I will definitely be trying out some of the more adventurous creations next time but this was so good. This Italian has a freshness to it that I have a hard time describing but their olive oil blend is lovely, the olives, banana peppers and lettuce helped with that fresh taste as well I'm sure. The bread is incredible! It taste house baked, crisp outer crust with a pillowy interior. The house chips were also really good and salted perfectly. The inside is cool, it's a microbrewery and there's subtle like alien themes throughout? Overall can't wait to try it out again, stop by if you're ever down in Columbia!
