There are some things in your video review you wrote up that are not accurate (and some things that you wrote that we're not accurate from my perspectivs) that I would like to have a chance to respond to... Whatever menu I was handed that had the lobster roll description on It did not have a description that included onions. There seem to have been multiple menus the restaurant had that day. When I was outside a server said that she would bring over the lobster menu (this menu was not given to me) when I was reading off of the original menu I was given the lobster roll did not include onion. Honest mistake of wrong menu being given, but it helps for customers to know what ingredients are in things like that when dealing with food sensitivities. The server never checked in to ask how the meal was/if I needed anything. I was a server for over 10 years and I know that's the first things I do after dropping off someone's food to ensure everything is good. There was food left on my plate, fries. Thanks for the refund, and I hope trying another time I will find it to be a better experience!

Iced tea was good. Service was very good. The store has a lot of interesting items, especially if you like nostalgic candies. Decor was very charming. There's a deli case that might be great for lunch and I didn't read the menus on the walls. Sandwiches are made fresh and they appear to either have a bakery or a relationship with one as there were quite a few pastries that looked creative and fresh. It takes some time to make the food so my recommendation is to call them ahead of time so it is ready when you arrive. There are a few tables inside and a few more outside so there is seating. If you read my reviews you might know that the highest I give on a first visit is 4 stars. If I go back and the place is excellent again I raise it to 5. This is so that a place that is consistently the best of the best (vs a one time great experience) gets 5 stars over a place that just does it once. Olive Oyl's would definitely be eligible for a 5th star and I'm virtually certain to give it to them on the next visit. It was such a perfect combination of choices, quality, service and ambiance! We've been coming to Essex for so many years and always passed this place by for no reason in particular. Now I think we will visit every time we're in town!

If you enjoy a very crunchy treat, then do try their Eggshell Salad. HELPFUL TIP: The soft inner content goes in the salad and the hard outer shell DOES NOT. There is a lunch spot in very close proximity that is a fraction of price, and the food never disappoints. With the most pleasant owner.

I can only speak of my experiences at Cliff's, so after looking at some of the critical reviews, I…read morethought I should note my own recent experience for balance. I needed some smoked items (boneless turkey breast, boneless ham) in fairly large quantities, and the staff were great at helping me sort through my options, unlike the $$$ caterers who invariably just gave me a checklist where the items rarely matched my plans. The guys at Cliff's were patient and helpful, and super-cheerful. The special order was ready right on schedule -- they do their own smoking -- and the quality of the items was outstanding, not just in my opinion, but also as reflected in the endless compliments made by my guests. The meat was not delivered like some sloppy product, but was beautifully produced, attractive, and easy to cut and serve. Perfect. The total cost was not simply reasonable -- for the quality and service, it was a steal. Other than the crowd that sometimes gathers at lunch time, I lover going to Cliff's, not simply for the outstanding range of offerings, but because I like the vibe of the place. Every time I've been there, all I see are enthusiastic and appreciative customers, and true experts delivering superior products in an upbeat, helpful way. I don't dispute anyone else's experience, but the points of criticism I read here are not at all part of my experience. I love Cliff's!
