Man, the management here is really skimping. Subway is supposed to offer at least 5 kinds of bread. I know because I used to work for one. They only had white and white with jalapeño. Then they were out of water cups but refused to give me a normal cup for water without charging for it, which is a pretty basic courtesy to customers who are buying sandwiches and chips. There were flies landing on the food as it was being prepared and almost every table was dirty. The guy who rang me up and denied the cup was talking on his personal cell phone, but the line was backed up across the bar. There were only two people working, so I think the management is just trying to squeeze all the money they can out of this place which is what's wrong with many chains these days, and I don't recommend anyone go here. read more

Subway branded fresh baked bread with plenty of fixings. This is not the case for the Buttonwillow Subway. The Italian roll was dry and fixings very sparse. I ordered a turkey "make it deluxe" with lettuce, tomato, black olives, pickle and mayo and received a dried out sandwich that literally made me choke, required a splash of bad soda fountain Diet Coke. Add chips and cup for crappy soda and it costs nearly $10.00. Need to use the restroom? Better to visit another or be prepared to enter the set of the movie "Saw". Seriously, this is a horror show. I stopped here due to Megabus' rest stop to get food and I should've gone to the taco truck instead. Service: Both employees had the same straightforward style with no smile and appeared to be taking a break because no one was at the front to help a customer. The problem here is the limited bread choices. I have never been to a Subway where they were out of bread choices. I understand that it's in the middle of nowhere, but at least state which ones are currently available. They did, however, refill the cheeses when I requested for it. I would have to agree that they skimp on the veggies. I have always found a way around this by ordering slowly one at a time so they take time in adding what you want. They also take the time to grab more if you just pause before each veggie. It's not being indecisive, it's about getting what you want. And it doesn't hurt to smile, then continue to add your favorite sauce and salt and pepper. Overall Taste: I always toast my sandwiches, and it tastes just the same. But all the meats look unappealing before the toast. I would recommend rethink getting steak, bacon, or anything that has been clearly sitting for more than 8 hours. Ambiance: It's just an awkward apace in such a large dining area to have 5 booths against the wall. Price: I don't frequent Subway after dinner hours but from what I could tell, they're promos are up to date. My daughter and I stopped at the Subway in Button Willow on our way to Corona to visit family. Loved this experience! The restaurant is clean and inviting, well stocked. I don't know her name but a young lady helped us and she was delightful! Our sandwiches were delicious and fresh! Best lemonade I've ever had at a Subway! Actually, I thought the drink selection was extensive. We met the owner, Gurjit Singh (Gary), and he was very nice, warm and friendly. However, it is convenient if you need a reasonably priced and quick bite to eat, as your only other options here are Jack-in-the-Box or more pricey convenience store items with fewer options. My order of a a foot-long chicken breast sandwich came out to be just under $8. Probably a bit pricier than your average Subway, but seemed (and tasted) like a healthier alternative to your traditional fast food. This Subway used to in a gas station but now has moved to a brand new building that is very nice. The other reviewer talks about a TCBY in the place and that is not the Buttonwillow Subway. There is another Subway some 50- 70 miles north which is in a gas station and has a TCBY so I believe the other negative review is of the Subway further north. I pretty much agree with that review of that store. This place moves people very fast. They make great sandwiches and pile on the veggies. Worst experience at any Subway I have ever been to. As we walk in we notice a man (probably the owner/manager) just sitting at a table. 1 lady behind the counter to make sandwiches. I leave my family at the counter to order and I use the restroom. That restroom was beyond disgusting, I would have rather used a portapotty that had been at a race track for a week and mever cleaned. Maybe the guy sitting could have used his time better and cleaned that nasty restroom. It was around 11am and they only had wheat bread available.
