There's seems to be no standard on sandwiches here. Most days, depending on who's making a sandwich, you get a firehouse sub worthy sandwich. This time I received a sub that I wouldn't have paid for if I personally received it. This time my daughter brought one on the app.For me on a road trip . I had someone pick it up for me. So I could go on a road trip to Arizona. They dropped it in my lunch bag and I took up on my way when I got to. A location where I could put my concrete control.I opened my sandwich and highly disappointed.Couldn't take any pictures because I was driving but I don't know who made my sandwich that day.But I was highly disappointed.It was not a firehouse, sub worthy sandwich.It looked as if someone from subway was moonlighting in that position period pretty disappointing.And I don't recommend this business unless you can see the sandwich that they make for you.Before you accept it. read more

I had a gift card for a free sub and they would not honor it so I just paid for my sub which was over $13 after tax. Unfortunately the brisket and cheddar sub was definitely not worth the money. I placed an order for online pickup through uber eats... when I arrived at the facility I wasn't greeted by anyone on staff and there seemed to be some tension... I showed my order number to the cashier and she began to assemble my order... after eating and allowing my food to settle,,, I went to the gym... during an intense workout session,,, I felt a shortness of breath/ dizziness/ weakness in my extremities and began vomiting... at first,,, I just thought that I had overworked myself... but as time went on my symptoms were consistent with food poisoning and the last thing I ate was an Italian sub from firehouse... currently I'm on day two of suffering from the food poisoning symptoms and I haven't been able to keep down anything/ weakness in my muscles/ unable to sleep/ constant pain/ fatigue headaches and urinating to trying to keep myself hydrated... I will never be going back to this place again... the staff seemed rude (all of which were Hispanic) and I believe I was purposely poisoned... I honestly hope this facility gets shut down read more

So, if you know me then you'll know sandwiches are not my first choice for lunch or dinner and it's not something I would go out of my way to get, but for some reason I love this place. The hot sandwiches have been delicious and if you haven't tried this place, I think you should try it when you're in the area. I don't know if this is locally owned or if this is a franchise, but I have never heard of "Firehouse subs" until I saw it here. I have tried both their wheat and white bread and they were both delicious. They taste homemade and fresh. Right now, my favorite sandwich is the Philly Cheese sandwich. They put a good portion of protein. I think they put peppers and onions, but my last sandwich I got did not have onions, so I am not sure. The pickle they serve is delicious and they might make them in-house. It's individually wrapped and served on the side of your sandwich. Like most sub sandwich places, you can ask for other veggies and toppings. They don't have a huge selection, but they have a good amount of options and sides. Lunch time can be a bit busy as they are located off of California and the area can be busy with traffic since there's other food options in the same parking lot. They are a little pricey, but I think it's worth it. Don't forget to download the app so you can get your free birthday perk. You can also build points so it goes towards your next visits. I don't eat here very much so I haven't accumulated enough points to redeem anything. Every time I have visited this place, the restaurant has been pretty clean and isn't usually busy. Staff is always polite and if you order ahead or use your app then your sandwich will be ready on their shelf. read more

This is my go to if I want a delicious sandwich in Bakersfield. I really like that no matter what sandwich I get, it's always made just as good as the last sandwich I had there. I remember wanting to try this place for years. Now living in Bakersfield, I usually go at least once a week. I have not had a bad sandwich yet! I like that the sandwich is always made with really good, fresh ingredients. You can choose from one of the regular menu sandwiches or just have them make one just the way you want it. They have salads too. And they actually use romaine lettuce. That's actually a great choice and not expected at a sandwich shop. And what sandwich would be complete without the Coca Cola freestyle machine. It's always nice when you can make your own beverage just how you like too! You can't go wrong when you have a firehouse sub. I ordered the Corned Beef Brisket w pastrami. So delicious. The bread was perfectly toasted. The brisket with the pastrami was mouth exploding. I was really hoping this trip would be better than the others, unfortunately I was wrong. Every time my husband and I order from here my sandwich is screwed up! This time I placed an order thru the app at 435 for a 530 pickup time. I added some veggies to my sandwich and that was all. When we picked up our order and got home both were super cold like they had prepared them at 435 when I ordered them! I requested grilled peppers and onions to be added to mine, didn't happen. I got the hit Italian which was so yummy and meaty and had a sauce that was so much better than plain mayo. I got the Italian dressing in the side and I'm glad I did because it was a very generic out of the bottle tasting Italian. The cheese was guey, the meat was tasty and the bread fresh and crackled when I bit into it. The soda area had a ton of flavors to choose from and they have sweetened and unsweetened iced tea. There is also an area of just sauces to chose from. The chips are the kettle ones that I love so much. Sea salt and vinegar are my favorite. The sandwich itself was very good, "best meatballs" is going to be subjective of course but I didn't think they were the best I've had in town but certainly good. The marinara was good, there was plenty of cheese and a good amount of seasoning on the sandwich. I particularly like the Pastrami Reuben, which departs from the formula by substituting a slightly sweet coleslaw for the traditional sauerkraut. Nice change. The rest of the group had both hot and cold subs and everyone agreed they liked their choice of sandwich. Add in either chips or soup and a drink to make a meal. Drinks are available either bottled or from a Coke Freestyle machine, so lots of choices and varieties. Reasonably short wait time from ordering to delivery to your table. The store also offers outside delivery through third-party services. There are a large number of hot sauces on the counter should you choose to use them; I did not find that necessary. I also appreciate the homage paid to first responders and the prominent support for charities that is evident everywhere in the restaurant. So a few months back we attended a condors game and our section won free subs and my husband and I decided to go cash them in and try their subs for lunch. We are so glad we did, everything was delicious and the staff were very friendly and helpful but we almost ran into a snag when trying to use the free sub gift cards we had. The staff told us sense it was our first time there that they would honor the free sub card, but that they are trying to stop anyone from really using them because the Rabo Bank Employees are abusing the gift cards and using them for themselves and their friends and family. Which is not ok in our book and should be looked at by the company. But we were so happy they aloud us because let's face it when you get anything these days that says free it's pretty exciting lol.
