I would give this place 0 stars if it was an option. Initial impression the lady helping us didn't seem very friendly. They didn't have any jalapeño bread made, understandable, I ordered wheat instead. I asked for american cheese, they don't carry it! Seriously? Ok, I asked for pepperjack instead. She finishes my sandwich super sloppy, with a big blob of mayo on one side. I proceed to order a kids meal for my son, who can't intake more than 4 oz dairy, since his sandwich has cheese I get juice instead. At this point the lady proceeds to tell me that I can't get the juice because it's too "expensive," I thought I heard wrong so I asked her to repeat herself, I heard right the first time. At this point I was furious, I told her I didn't ask her how much it costs because obviously I have money & can afford it. Then she said "it's a lot of $$," really??? It's $1!! This was the worst Subway I have ever been to!!! Here's the way it happened. My girlfriend, myself and our three girls stopped here on our way back from L.A., we stop in Buttonwillow for a "health" lunch. A six inch sandwich, which they offer on TV every day. The girl behind the counter begins to take our orders. 5, 6 inch subs please. As she is making our sandwiches, my daughter (who was VERY hungry) notices that her sandwich was MUCH small then the other 4 sandwiches. So, I double check to make sure she is not making a kids meal, she says no, this is how our bread is made. ????. How can you offer a six inch sandwich for a certain price and try to give you a 4 inch sandwich claiming that it is exactly the same as a 6 inch. What's the logic in this? So I let her finish that sandwiches, because apparently in this shop, the customer is never right. I then compare the small sandwich with the others and it was OVIOUS that there was a HUGH difference in the sizes. I then took the sandwiches up to the counter to show the HUGH difference to the lady that made the sandwiches and she STILL had to fight with me until the manager finally made a new sandwich. It was SO ridiculous and embarrassing for that store. I am a business owner and have been for 20 years. I would never, ever treat a customer this way, especially over a $4 sandwich. Also, besides the rudest, stupidest bunch of Subway workers I have ever met, and we eat at different Subway A LOT. Also, 90% of their tomatoes were white, hard and bitter. I wish I could show you a picture of the veggies on our sandwiches. I did take pictures it was SO bad. NONE of the tables were clean, regardless of how much time they spent arguing with customers. Don't forget, if you go here, you HAVE TO PAY to use the bathroom. The whole place is a ridiculous excuse for a SUBWAY, with a manager that OVIOUSLY only cares about skimping on their products and taking people for every dime he can get. The staff here are not very helpful and skimp on toppings. When I first walked in, it was 5 minutes before anyone came out of the back to help me. When it came to toppings, I had to ask multiple times to even get enough lettuce to have a thin covering across the sandwich. When I asked for olives, I only got 3 slices. This pattern held for any vegetable I asked for. Also, the bread was stale, as if it was leftover from the day before. read more

Stopped to charge the car and took the kids for Subway. Perfect place to stop (next to a Starbucks) and very clean inside. The staff was surprisingly friendly and they have nice bathrooms. read more

Terrible service! My wife my son and myself we're the only ones in line. My wife asked the lady behind the counter what's the calorie difference between the 9 grain wheat and the wheat? The lady responds they're the same. So we go to order a sandwich and we say Turkey on 9 Grain and the lady says we're out, okay Turkey on wheat- lady responds we're out , ok, Turkey on Italian herb and again responds we're out. Ok Turkey on honey wheat- they have that. Getting meat and condiments on the sandwich is a whole different story and took a long long time. my sandwich only had turkey cheese mustard spinach and banana peppers. I had to ask for more of each item because they skimp so much. The staff was rude and was rushing us through. Then we go to sit at a table- there's five tables against the wall every one of them is dirty. We ask if they can clear a table for us so the lady comes out from behind the counter wipe down one table not the chairs and goes back. Why wouldn't she clean the rest of the tables? Needless to say this place was dirty and the restroom smelled I should have read all the other Yelp reviews before I stopped here. read more

Zero if I could. No napkins readily available, had to interrupt line workers to ask for one. Left something valuable behind accidentally and the phone number for this place doesn't even work. Had to frAntically call the nice Starbucks people to run next door and verify Subway had my item. Starbucks staff gave them my number so they could call me back which of course they never did. Who does this? It would have only taken 5 seconds to put me out of my stressful misery. Seriously, What kind of business are these people running? While Subway product is pretty standard, it Makes you question the quality of everything they serve. Have been coming thru here for years because it's perfectly in the middle of our long road trips, and between Subway and Starbucks there's always something everyone likes. But this Subway has steadily become more grimy and chintzy thru the years. This will be our last stop. Starbucks next door is a good stop tho. read more

We were traveling through Buttonwiilow, CA off of I-5 back to So Cali. This was about 2:30 pm on 8/22/10. We decided to eat at Subway, big mistake. I ordered a $5 footlong, cold cuts with the normal "fixins". The cashier asked me what I ordered, I responded with a $5 footlong. He said "which one"? I responded with the cold cuts combo". He then felt my sandwich, which made me feel as though he thought I was lying about my sandwich choice. I again stated to him that it was "Cold". He did not apologize for his indiscripency, but actually gave me a look, which I felt was racist. My husband and I look ed for a table to sit at, but they were all dirty. Not only food scraps, but greasy and slimy. Their tables had not been wiped down for a long time. We finally settled on a table that was reasonably clean, which was across from the cashier, who I believe gave me nasty looks when I looked at him. Unfortunately, I needed to us the restroom before we left. OMG!!! The trash bins were overflowing, and there were paper towels all over the floor. The restroom had a vulger smell which made me gag!!! Subway Corp. or California restaurant inspectors need to investigate this restauant. Needless to say we will never eat there again, and we will share this horror story with all of our friends who travel north. Subway, you need to get on top this!! Thank you. read more

We had purchased a gift card as well as three sandwiches and a week later my fiance went to use the gift card my mom got him there to find out it was never activated then denied it or that that is even possible even as a mistake which gets me to think this was intentional. Most places a poor review would motivate the business to do something to improve the conditions, however, I can see by ALL the poor reviews that this restaurant has received and the dates on them, that the management and owner haven't paid any attention to them. I even contacted corporate regarding what happened to me and the owner was made aware of it (again) and still nothing!! This is my experience with Subway in Buttonwillow..... My husband and I were traveling through Buttonwillow and stopped at the Starbucks located adjoining this Subway. We purchased drinks and decided to sit outside. There were metal benches in the outside area near their door, but directly in front of Subway. I went to sit down on one end of the bench and at the same time, the other end came flying up and knocked me down onto the cement ground. The only thing that saved me from hitting my head and breaking my neck was that I put my hand down to break my fall. I went into the Subway to inform management of their defective bench. No one was to be found inside. I had to call out and finally got an employee's attention who came out from the back area. The first employee I spoke to did not seem too interested, but followed me outside to take a look at it at my request. She apparently had no idea what to do. The second employee was not much better, but after I suggested they do something so no one else would be hurt she removed the bench but left the posts sticking up. No sign was posted. The third employee came out while talking on a cell phone and asked me if I had been a customer of Subway. I told him that we made a purchase at Starbucks. He responded by saying something in a foreign language to the person on the phone, then told me that since I had not been a customer of Subway, I had to go into Starbucks and inform them. I told him that since the bench was owned by this Subway store, the owner was responsible for its upkeep. I was told that the owner would be coming to the store to talk to me. Thirty minutes later, still no owner, so I went into the store to find out where he was. This time I was told that he was not coming. Needless to say I was pissed off. We left after taking pictures of the defective bench vowing never to return to this Subway. I went online and filed a complaint with Subway's corporate office who forwarded my complaint to the owner. The owner did not contact me, however, his son-in-law did. The son-in-law was very nice and appeared to be sincerely concerned. However, after a month going by and no follow thru on his promise, I am doubtful that it was sincere. It was probably just trying to appease me. He made his apologize on behalf of his father-in-law and said that he wanted to send me a gift card. I thought the gesture was nice and provided him with my information for it to be sent. After several weeks, and no gift card, I called him again to inform him in case it got lost in the mail. He said he would check into it and get back to me. That never happened. No call and no gift card. Don't get me wrong, this is not about a gift card, but rather showing concern and responsibility for a customer. The staff at this restaurant didn't even ask me if I was ok, if I wanted a glass of water, or get my name. The owner didn't even call to check on me. With the reviews I am seeing, I don't see this business lasting very long. I won't EVER return and don't suggest anyone else making a stop there. It is worth going a few extra miles to another Subway for good food AND good service!!! read more

Harpreet was one of the worst sandwich makers I've ever had. Messed up on my meatball marinara and poured basically half of the Parmesan cheese bottle onto my sandwich. Subway's recipes were barely able to make up for it. read more
