a sub sandwich on a piece of paper
    Mike S.

I got a yelp just to talk about this subway and the other restaurants around. If you want food just buy a plane ticket, walk through security, and buy overpriced food in the airport. I came here hungry after work and ordered a sandwich after waiting a while for the worker to get off his phone, he continued to squeeze and squish the bread while he cut it and slammed ham on it. He spoke two words the whole time. Other visits have been just as bad. Very ratchet, gross, and rude people.

The rest of the food is on the other side of security gate, but as I've mentioned in another view, it's not a pretty sight (http://www.yelp.com/biz/burger-bistro-baton-rouge#hrid:XK1wCEbrD2Fnf3HM0Nv0Kg). Red Baton may look fancier than the other airport cafes (#1), yet ironically carries the simplest menu of them all. What they sell here, they produce reasonably well - sandwiches, soups, and a little breakfast in the morning. Staff here is mind numbingly slow, but fast service isn't exactly an expectation around these parts. I've had their gumbo ($5) for a light lunch once, it came with a sandwich (Combo $9) and it was like a mini shrimp poboy that was surprisingly decent. Drinks are self serve here, but are airport pricey. Another thing worth noting is they actually have some seating with mini tables out front. There is usually very few people eating here, so there is always room. The seating is right next to the baggage claim area and makes for a good spot for people watching. If I'm picking someone up at the airport and can't wait to grab food on the outside, I wouldn't be surprised to find myself parked here. ____________ (#1) It doesn't take much.

Sound of the rap music ringtone when the cashier's phone rang only added to our awful experience. No where else to eat in the airport so no reason for owners/management to make changes. Now they are in a much better, but still cozy, space on Government Street. This facility has indoor dining space, patio dining space, and plenty of parking, including a back overflow lot. Anthony's has been in business so long due to authentic Italian cuisine, including a great variety of take out deli items. If you need some real Italian grocery items for your home, there's a good chance you can get them at Anthony's. However, if you would rather let them prepare your meal for you, that's an excellent option as well. I think they have a first rate muffuletta, and it's important to have the right bread and meats for those. This is something they have covered! Their Po-Boys are also my favorites. These are pressed so they are crispy and flattened. I typically like to get these with a small salad, which is indeed an excellent choice. If you have room, there's always some great dessert choices. Another consideration is picking up something to take home for later, I think a tub of high quality imported olives are a good selection. Don't forget their cheeses as well, these can lift your home cooking to a higher level. Next time you are in the Government Street Arts and Entertainment District, drop into Anthony's for a bite, dessert, or take home items. You'll definitely thank yourself later!

I have always enjoyed the meatball poboy .. but because I don't live close, I was inspired to find a good recipe and did!! Always have Italian meatballs in the freezer for quick meals, but when in the area and in the mood for Italian deli I'll be back for a lunch special. Used to go to the one way down Florida Blvd & think this area was a good move for them. Very nice family run restaurant if you haven't tried it.

I cook a lot of both at home--I'm someone who is dedicated enough to my Louisiana cooking to order Steen's syrup from Louisiana to my Florida doorstep even though Florida makes perfectly good cane syrup in its own right. (Side note: any New Orleans restaurant you venture to serving pain perdu with maple syrup and not Steen's--ask what the hell they're even doing.) Like most worthwhile restaurants, the menu here changes up. The specials as well as their famous sandwiches seem the way to go and I got the fried shrimp with bread and butter pickles. Exceptional--a small amount, it may have even been a starter but regardless was perfect for me. The sandwiches other diners had on their plates were large and looked delicious just glancing around at other tables. Everything comes up fast and the atmosphere is . . . just ideally New Orleans. It feels all the way "working CBD lunch" yet unhurried, a reflection of Cochon's greatness but scaled down and with utterly no pretense. There's simply a real sense of both care and expertise in everything done here no matter how simple or complex. Beyond all else, they're doing what they love here with no scaling back or dressing up to make it anything else. A winner through and through.

The place was clean and had ample space. We ordered at the register but once seated I noticed you can order at the table by scanning the q code. My daughter went with the grilled chicken Caesar wrap and I had the jalapeño turkey crunch. We had two drinks that came in huge cups. I had the pineapple upside lemonade and my daughter had the peach tea. They were both good but definitely sweet. Our food was pretty good. The Caesar wrap fell apart easily but the taste was there. The jalapeño turkey crunch was bigger than I thought. I was only able to eat half. It was tasty but there's another place in Baton Rouge that has one that tastes better. Overall, nice spot. I'll probably return to try additional items.

First, the store was dirty. Plates were piles up on numerous tables. The floors were sticky. Next, I ordered behind a group of three people. After they ordered, the employee walked off and I waited another five minutes or so to order. I had to repeat my order twice and correct the drink as she was pouring it. I stepped aside to wait. While waiting, a couple of kids walked in. They waited about 10 minutes without being acknowledged. They left and two employees who just needed to acknowledge their existence made some snarky comments for all to hear. While I was waiting, there was clearly a tussle in the kitchen with employees shouting at each other and one lovely f bomb dropped. Another employee mediated and calmed it down, but they all had attitude. The trio in front of me got their food after about 20 minutes of waiting. A door dasher came and waited a while during that time and got his order. Someone finally asked me what I was waiting on. I am pretty sure at that moment they just started to make it. Here is where the only star was earned - A very nice employee walked out with my food after another 10 minutes and apologized for the wait. She offered me a free item, but I just took a refill of my drink. She was friendly and acknowledged the fact I had been waiting for so long. (35 minutes for slathering chicken salad on a croissant) I walked out the door just in front of that trio who had finished their meals and I had just received mine. So I took my order home..... no side. The sandwich was correct, but they did not give me the entire order. That was disappointing. And I paid way too much for that sandwich. I won't go back. As much as I loved the restaurant and love the menu all these years, this location sours it. Someone in corporate needs to visit this location because it will not and should not make it.
