I had looked up this place and found it on yelp to have coffee... I wanted to get me an Americano and rang the bell and waited patiently. Our typical go-to would've been the Mexican cart, but I remember my mother saying that this place, with its various locations, was to die for. Since we were already mostly dying with all of the crying and wailing from my starving children, I figured we might as well give this a try. We didn't have much to lose. Out of sheer ignorance, we pointed at whatever we could pronounce or what looked good, (for which the meal numbers really helped). We ended up ordering the handheld shepherds pie with fries (which my husband insisted on calling an empanada), and something called Pelmenis with the cucumber tomato salad and some sour cream I think. I don't think I've had such a delicious meal in my entire life. We had quickly dished out portions for each of the children to hold them over until we had "real food at home". Now I knew I should've gotten three additional orders. Our family LOVED this food. Our boys asked for more Pelmenis. They needed yet another serving of fries. They insisted on another bite of the shepherds pie. My husband and I looked at each other and disbelief. How have we never been here before? What magic was tucked away into these giant and tiny pockets?? The salad was delightfully fresh. Our food was hot and ready in 7 minutes (we timed them!). We were given napkins and ketchup and silverware were. The price was higher than expected but TOTALLY restaurant quality. Maybe it was the effects of starvation. Maybe our standards were brought low from our lame shopping adventures. Or maybe the food at this place was a JUST THAT GOOD. We'll be back very very soon, if not to Aurora then OC or Newberg.

The smallish parking lot was almost full when I arrived a little after 2pm, but most people were shopping for shortbread in the shop section. They have an impressive range of different types and flavors of shortbread on offer here. Reservations are required for afternoon tea, and I would recommend calling as opposed to filling out the email form on the website. I walked in to the cozy tearoom and was quickly seated. The room was cozy and the table set with items from Britain. Additionally, they had nice holiday decorations out, which lent a festive air. Service was very friendly, and we never felt neglected, even when the shop was busy. While I waited for my tea companions, I perused the tea selection. Lots of options, from fruity herbals to traditional black teas. My family soon arrived and our tea orders were taken. I went traditional in my selection of PG Tips (a British black tea blend). Each person received their own teapot, with cozy. The teapots stayed hot the entire time, which was nice. We had sugar cubes and milk to add if so desired. Everyone seemed happy with their tea selection, my niece even finished her teapot of blueberry tea. The tea tower of food came out soon after our teas. The sandwich/savory tier had both cucumber and roast beef sandwiches, along with sausage rolls. All were hearty and delicious, and the bread was soft and fresh, not dried out. A tangy mustard sauce complemented the sausage rolls nicely. Then there were three large scones, one plain and one cranberry. These were served with butter, strawberry jam and cream. The top tier consisted of fruit along with lemon curd, chocolate mousse and cream tarts, each with a shortbread base. All delicious and perfectly sized. Their was more than enough food for us, and I ended up taking quite a bit of the scones and savories home with me. The sweets were the biggest hits with my niece. After the tier was removed and boxed up, one more treat was served. It was a delicious combination of chocolate, whipped cream and a brownie base. It earned a thumbs up from my niece. I grabbed a couple shortbread treats for later on my way out. They were all rich and flavorful, as were the leftovers from the tea itself. This was a wonderful holiday treat, and a friendly and tasty introduction to afternoon tea for my niece. I will be back for some more shortbread and another afternoon tea with friends and family. Highly recommended.

You have the option of going to the red shed, the orchards, white house, restaurant, and/or golf course. My friend and I only went to the restaurant since it was a cold weekday. The atmosphere was very warm, reminiscent of a cabin. Many historic photos of the property adorned the walls. The high arching ceiling made the room feel so expansive. Service was quick and accommodating, granted we were the first patrons there. They were willing to make a bunch of substitutions without extra cost. And when my friend asked for extra half and half, she got a whole handful. Food wise, I was pretty pleased with my chicken fried steak. The meat was nice and thin, well coated, and fried just right. The gravy was well seasoned with a great consistency. The subbed green beans were buttery, full of garlic, and barely blistered. Overall I was pretty pleased with our experience. Food quality was good with reasonable pricing. I would like the try the brunch menu on the weekends and walk around the property come spring.
