    U-Haul of Mount Laurel

    U-Haul of Mount Laurel

No more trucks, no more trailers, no more storage units, and definitely no more "professional" hitch installations. I've spent plenty of money with this company over the years, but congratulations -- you've convinced me to stop. They installed a hitch on my vehicle last year. After a while it started making a loud creaking noise. I brought it back, and they told me the installer had over‑torqued it. He "fixed" it -- or so he claimed. A month later, the noise was back. So I took it to their legendary "Master Hitch Mechanic" in Mt. Laurel. Because nothing says expertise like a self‑appointed title and a faded U‑Haul polo shirt. Shockingly, he didn't perform any miracle repair. What he did do was show me the real problem: the hitch had damaged my frame. Fantastic. He handed me an insurance brochure like that was supposed to solve anything. I filed a claim, it was denied, and now I'm stuck with a damaged frame thanks to their incompetence. And here's the best part: after doing my own research, I found out this is a known issue with this hitch. U‑Haul should be covering the repair and taking it up with their supplier. Instead, they shrugged and walked away. As far as I'm concerned, this place is run by crooks hiding behind an outdated, faded orange sign. Do yourself a favor and take your vehicle to an actual hitch shop -- one where "expert" means more than a name tag and a torque wrench.

My rating doesn't necessarily reflect this location. However, I was hit by ice and snow coming off…read moreof a Uhaul from this location. The driver stopped and gave me all the information I needed to make a claim. I reached out and was told to email the claims department. I have at this point emailed 3x and have received NO RESPONSE. Very poor customer service. Luckily I was not seriously hurt, but I still expect a response concerning the damage caused to my vehicle. Very disappointed, and will not give up.

Came by with a small pick up of 48 totes here today…read more First off, was slightly confused where the front entrance was since I pulled in from the backside, but eventually found it in the smaller building, NOT the taller storage building. The place is well stocked and staff were friendly here today. Main knock is that they ended up not having the stock available for us, since they only had 36 totes. The first person who helped me ended up ringing me up for the full 48 before I realized it after counting the stacks she pointed me to. They were quick to handle this well though, and adjusted my counts and placed an order for the remaining 12 at the Cinnaminson location down the road. While the adjustment was smooth and easy, I would have appreciated the prior heads up that stock was not sufficient for the full order here, or just a bit more attention to detail to catch that. However, I think this is the second time this has happened to me before, so this may just be a U-HAUL inventory system issue that they don't flag accurately. All in all, it nets out to an OK experience here. Not bad! But could be better.

The teenage boys working at this location rented me a truck that was leaking gas from the bottom of the gas tank. When I confronted them about it, their response to me was "no it's not." I could see and smell gas, it was dripping from the bottom of the truck. I was moving to Michigan, a 12 hour drive, with my dog and all my worldly possessions. Not exploding en route was a priority for me. I mentioned this to them and they literally laughed in my face. I refused to take it, waited in the parking lot all day for them to give me a new truck. Finally, right before closing time, they told me they would fix it overnight and to come back in the morning. Wasting the entire day I had planned on driving was not ideal, but I figured it was worth it to avoid a leaking gas truck. So I came back in the morning. They assured me that the gas leak, the one they had spent the entire day before denying existed, was fixed. I said fine and took the truck and was on the road for not 2 minutes when the check engine light came on. At this point I was irate. I brought the truck back and in not-the-nicest tone insisted they give me a new truck. They did not like being spoken to so unpleasantly by a woman and refused to help me at first. I asked them to at least diagnose the check engine light and they did begrudgingly. The result: Gas Leak. They did not like that I was right all along and were trying to walk back every denial they made. Finally, with no remorse, they offered me a new truck. I drove it to Michigan with my car in tow. When I returned it to the U-haul in Michigan, the manager of the store approached me with a look of grave concern. He asked if one of his men had attached my car trailer. I told him no, it was in New Jersey. He was relieved that it wasn't one of his employees and told me my car was basically attached by a single carabiner. He said if I had had to go uphill at all my car would have almost certainly come detached and crash into whoever was behind me. All this to say, this place will put your life and everyone on the road around you's lives in mortal danger, especially if you're a woman traveling alone. This location is run by people named John and Mitzie. John ran this whole shit show and Mitzie sounded drunk at 8:00 am, photo attached. Plenty of other U-Hauls to go to - avoid this one.
