Matawan World of Gardening - Plants

It is always a delight going to Matawan World of Gardening because everyone who works here knows…read morewhat they are selling. It is always easy to find someone to get help and they treat you with respect unlike the big box stores. I've been purchasing 3/4 inch round delaware river round or jacks because they are different and unique from those stones available at home depot or lowes. The price is great too.

Found this place after seeing their billboard. It seemed they were going to have great prices based…read moreoff their advertising, but that was a LIE..... We came & went after buying nothing. Their flower pots, potted plants and other accessories are double to triple the price of their competitors. For example it was $60 for a potted plant that I saw the same day for $30 at a NJ competitor. Their individual produce & herb plants are .50-$1.50 more each... might not seem like a lot but it definitely adds up. Their garden furniture is also extremely expensive as well, great quality but ridiculously overpriced..... I hate to say it but this is why people shop Amazon, Lowe's, homedepot and Walmart in 2020 for garden furniture........ Prices were so insanely high the whole store I still can't get over it, especially because they advertise how they have great prices (when they don't!).......... I had to use the bathroom when I was there and I think a Porta potty would have been better. The bathroom was in a creepy back room up the steps, to the left in an oddly large room with rusted soap and it looked haunted........ Sorry to say it but I don't know how much longer they can stay in business given their prices are so high. They advertise that they are 40-60% lower than the rest but it's just not true. They should advertise that they price match other farms because they're losing a lot of business. It was worth the 20 min drive South West to save myself the $75 bucks as we bought many flower and vegetable plants on our last visit. Yes I am talking about Gasko's. Sorry guys but I won't be back....

Can you give zero stars?…read more "Disappointing Experience Due to Poor Management and Lack of Accommodation!!" We visited Maple Leaf Farms for their holiday train ride with our two daughters. We arrived at 4:30 PM, knowing the train ride was scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM, and expected a reasonably organized experience. After waiting in line for over an hour and fifteen minutes, a staff member informed us that it would be at least another hour wait from where we were standing. We were told this delay was due to one woman attempting to accommodate and rearrange groups ahead of us. Unfortunately, this was handled very poorly, making the line significantly less efficient and causing repeated stoppages rather than steady movement. There were no clear updates or realistic time estimates until we had already waited an excessive amount of time. One of my daughters has special circumstances that make standing for long periods in crowded environments extremely difficult. When I explained this to staff and asked whether any accommodation could be made, I was told that they do not accommodate special needs in that way. We did everything we could to make the situation manageable--taking turns purchasing items from the store to keep the children occupied and fed--but once we were told we would need to wait at least another hour, we had no choice but to leave. When we politely requested a refund, it was refused. We then planned to return the following weekend, but our family came down with the flu. Even after explaining these circumstances and again requesting a refund, it was refused a second time. This was not a matter of impatience. It was the result of poor event and line management, combined with a complete lack of flexibility, accommodation, or empathy. For a family-oriented holiday event, this experience was deeply disappointing. I would not recommend this experience to families with young children or anyone who may require accommodations or cannot stand in long, crowded lines without clear communication and effective organization. There are so many family, friendly places that you can go to!! Just not here!

My last review of 2022 and it's for a fun Christmas activity my family did. Maple Leaf Farms…read morereally puts you in the Christmas spirit as you walk through their cute winter window displays and end at Santa Claus. My kids had a BLAST walking through the displays, pointing at all the different animatronics and posing at a cute little "bridge" where "snow" fell down all around them. As you walk through the displays you will notice that some of them are dated, but that's the point. It gives an old school Christmas vibe (ala Christmas Caverns from back in the day). When you get to the end of the window displays you meet up with Santa Claus. I really like their set up for meeting Santa. He is standing in a chimney set up as if he is on top of a house. I appreciate this because my son is at the age where he refuses to sit on Santa's lap but he happily spoke to him and posed in front of the chimney with Santa. It was great! He was also a very legit looking Santa. Very friendly and kind to all the kids. After that, we took a little train ride around the farm. It was a cute old timey looking train. My kids sat in the caboose with their cousins and had fun looking at all the different decorated hay bales. They even have a playground area too which we must visit when it gets warmer out. The price to walk through the window display was $12 for adults and $10 for children. To ride the train it was $5 per person. It became a bit of a pricey outing but I would certainly do it again next year because the kids had a great time. Pro tip: buy the apple cinnamon donuts! They were super warm, fresh, and delicious. Absolutely worth the $8!

Formal Escalation - Customer Service Failure & Rebate Disclosure Concern…read more To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally escalate a matter involving one of your retail locations that has left my family deeply disappointed. My spouse and I purchased over $30,000 in premium merchandise from your store, including a full suite of LG Studio appliances (refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, six-burner center-island range with oven), an LG ThinQ washer and dryer, and four high-end Samsung and LG televisions -- including a 2026 LG C-Series 55" model with soundbar for our master suite. As part of this purchase, we qualified for a $1,100 LG rebate. At no point during the sales process were we clearly informed that this rebate would expire within one year if not utilized. We only learned of the expiration after attempting to redeem it. When I attempted to address this matter, the store manager, Ryan, failed to return my calls. No proactive support, clarification, or resolution was offered. For a customer making a substantial investment in your brand, the absence of follow-up and engagement is unacceptable. This issue is not solely about the rebate. It is about transparency, accountability, and customer respect. Clear communication of rebate terms is a fundamental part of ethical retail practice. Additionally, leadership responsiveness is critical when concerns are raised. As a longtime consumer -- and someone who understands brand reputation at a national level -- I believe this situation warrants review. I am requesting: 1. A formal review of the rebate disclosure practices at this location 2. A written explanation of why management failed to respond 3. Consideration of a goodwill resolution regarding the expired $1,100 rebate I look forward to a timely response and a constructive resolution. Respectfully, Leonard Marshall Jr.

Got custom fireplace doors for an original brick fireplace (I.e. non prefab, random size opening)…read more The results were great, measurements were right on, the finish was good and the welds looked professional. Packed well too. Sure, a big box store door would have been cheaper but then we wouldn't have been able to pick the size, finish material, handles etc. Plus this frame is THICK - all welded barstock, not a bit of sheet steel to be seen!

If you are going to install anything yourself or have someone other than their installer do this…read moreAVOID these people. We bought a ventless gas log set from them. I wanted to support a local business and had naïvely felt that they would stand behind what they sold so I did not mind paying the extra money. I would have been way better off buying it on Amazon or another site online! I already had the gas line so I just needed to replace the old log set. First of all, when my wife picked it up you must sign a waiver that says you have a total of 24 hours to inspect everything. Then they have a clause in the waiver that states it may need "FINE" tuning. They also claim they do not do the installation and support they have contractors that do it, but their website clearly states they do installs and service. I installed the unit and it would run for a minute and turn off. I went to the manufactures website and found out you cannot contact them or get support; you must contact the dealer you bought it from. I called to find out how to get it fixed under warranty. Now even though the website is covered with service and support options I was told they don't do the service or support I needed to call their contractor and schedule a service call. When you call the contractor it sends you back to Albers to schedule the service call ?????? Oh, and that is $300. The tech came out and found out the thermocouple was not near the pilot light, and he needed to take it all apart then move the pilot light and the thermocouple, so they got next to each other and aligned. I have a checkout sheet with the unit that states who built it and tested it, it all says it was all tested and passed. So, I called back again to see how I could get credit for the fixing the manufactures defect. I was now told that since they did not have to replace any parts it was not a manufactures defect in workmanship it was a "FINE TUNING" and therefore it was not covered, and I had to pay the $300 myself. So, I should not expect to pay over $2000 for a gas log set and then expect it to work out of the box. Imagine if you bought a fancy gas stove and one of the burns did not light so you called Maytag and they fixed it and handed you a bill for $300 tow day safter you bought it. Albers sees no problem with this. If I had just bought it from Amazon or another online vendor I could have packed it up and got another one that was manufactured correctly. Instead, it cost me extra to by it and then $300 extra to get it to work.
