Anyway, I came here for Union snowboard bindings, as they can be hard to find sometimes. I guess it was lunch time when I went in as everyone was sitting around the cash register in the front eating pizza. Not very professional, but whatever. The place is kind of smelly, cluttered and a bit of a maze, but they do have a huge selection of ski and snowboard stuff. The guy who helped me out was pretty knowledgeable and did not hesitate to run downstairs to check stock and get me the right color / size bindings. I got exactly what I needed and was outta there. My spa is a small part of a larger outdoor renovation, and Pelican's team was attentive but also patient. Gentle follow ups were genuine, and not pushy. When I placed my order everything went smoothly, but soon afterwards there was a an issue with the manufacturer that created some significant delays. Eric was the guy we spoke to and honestly after looking at 5 different places he was the most attentive, most knowledgeable, and most willing to work with the needs of me and my family. I called Pelican and they had the small/inexpensive part in stock. While there making a purchase that was less than $20 mind you, the store manager answered my entire battery of questions with patience and a smile. Bought a pair of almost $200 goggles that were supposed to come with a facemask but they didn't give me the mask. By the time I realized it was a month later but it was the first time I used them! Called to tell them and hopefully get the mask I'm owed and they said they couldn't do anything for THEIR mistake. So don't go here if you want to get everything your money is paying for. This year, however, the store owner Dave O'Connor "chose not to do business with me" over a pair of girls ski pants. Unfortunately, not all Pelican's are equal. I LOVED the service at the Pelican on Rt 10, but unfortunately didn't feel the same love at Rt 18. I had gotten my board waxed and tuned and paid the extra $10 for the 24-hour turn around time. I brought my board in at 5:15pm on wednesday and they told me to come back 5:30pm on Thursday. I came back but still had to wait an extra half hour for my board, which just didn't sit well with me. 24 hours should mean 24 hours... Still the staff seemed pretty cool so I'll come back. We have experienced the most incredible customer service from Dave, a manager at the Pelican in New Brunswick. We recently bought a used hot tub and received no guidance on how to maintain it. The tub itself is not typical, and I found myself calling several spa retailers for advice. I got in contact with Dave and he has been amazing!! He has saved me so much $$$$$ by troubleshooting the error messages and personally walking me through ways to correct them. He could have set me up with 3-4 house calls by now, but instead he patiently encourages me to learn. I don't know what I would have done without his service these last 2 weeks. East Brunswick Pelican delivered a brand new $1400.00 cantilever umbrella to my home with ripped fabric and no manuals - said there weren't any - there were. Would do nothing to correct the situation but offer a refund - no replacement fabric, no further discount (wouldn't have taken it anyway), nothing. The staff behave like a bunch of stoners without a clue about customer service or care - they are completely disorganized and disconnected - with each other and with customers and worse - don't care at all. The right hand has NO IDEA what the left hand is doing. Take your ripped umbrella and keep it. But remember - your actions may affect how customers view ALL Pelican Pool store locations - competition is stiff - your attitude needs adjusting - your mistakes are yours - own them and don't take your inability to behave like a business out on your customers. Shame on you Mr. O'Conner - your team should stick to the slopes - they're below the expected professional grade of people who are looking for a quality experience with your limited summer products - and don't forget your beloved money making pool sales.
