Spring rolls with peanut dipping sauce

I eat at Sub A about once a week. They have a good variety of food, American & Asian. egg rolls, spring rolls, sub sandwiches, hot wings etc. Nice Vietnamese family owned & operated. Decent prices & pretty quick food prep for lunchtime. One of the best in Irving with easy access from Loop12 @ Irving blvd. If you're passing through.

Cheesesteak and chips. Made with ribeye steak

We just discovered this mom/pop joint. The cheesesteak is legit. To me much better than captain nemo's used to be. The bread and the marinated ribeye meat is what make this awesome sandwich. Plus the free small cup of chicken noddle soup was perfect.

    Order area, quite the selection.

Sub A, is a amalgamation of two different cuisines You have your classic hoagie shop mixed in a with a chinese restaurant. What is interesting is that they do both well. I had a cheesesteak the other day with which was really good. Yesterday I had their Shrimp Lo Mein which was great. I will say the lo mein was a little bit greasy, but hey its lo mein. On top of that, if your order more than $6, for any meal you get free homemade chicken noodle soup made three times a day which equates to being super good soup. You could make a meal of the soup by itself, that is how good it is. The people who work here are very friendly, and the restaurant is very clean. The menu is posted right on the wall for easy to read and ordering. If your in the area and want to try something new, I suggest you check this place out.

Stopped by to grab a sandwich before a flight out of dfw because who wants to pay $15 for a bad sandwich at the airport when you can get an 8" from Sub A for $6 that tastes 300% better!  Sub A is in the middle of nowhere, you will not stumble upon it unless it IS your destination!  It was on the way from a client office to the airport so I popped on in to check it out. Upon entering I knew I would like it.  No frills, the menu is a cross between you neighborhood Chinese spot and an Italian deli.  Made me do a double take but after I had a brief conversation with the cashier I felt much better.  I asked the young man what he recommended for a flight and he quickly asked if I liked a lot of meat on my sandwich.  Yes please, who doesn't! I opted for the biggest one (first item on the menu which is called the Pro Sub).  It came with a lot of meat and he even let me swap out the Swiss for pepper jack since I prefer my cheese without holes.   He also gave me a cup to self serve myself some chicken noodle soup.  The soup was good but I couldn't each much because it was 100+ outside.  Maybe in the summer they should replace that with some soda or bottle water. The sandwich itself was huge!  Plenty enough for two meals.  But of course I ate till I was full and devoured the second half about 1.5 hours later.  Delicious.  The meat we piled high and the extra free toppings are a great touch.  I got some lettuce, cucumbers, mushrooms, and oil/vinegar.  Delicious.  The bread was nice and soft (inside and out which was fine). All in all a good spot for a sandwich.  May even surprise you and replace your favorite Italian deli.

Griff's Hamburgers - Burgers and fries

    Griff's Hamburgers

    (129 reviews)

Griff's Hamburgers is an Irving institution. My parents were coming here back in their school days,…read moreand it still holds up as one of the best old-school greasy burger joints around. The building is newer and kept really clean, but thankfully the original 1950s-style sign still stands tall--an Irving classic and a reminder of its roots. This isn't fancy cuisine; it's good, greasy, satisfying food done right. The Burgers: Whether you grab a single or double, you'll leave happy. But if you're feeling bold, go triple or even quadruple--it's going to be a monster. Juicy, greasy, exactly what a fast-food burger should be. Sides: Fries are solid, onion rings have a thick, flavorful batter (pretty sure they make them fresh, though I won't swear to it). Both hit the spot. Other Classics: The chicken fried steak sandwich is a gem. Sure, it's a frozen patty, but it's rare to even find this on a fast-food menu anymore. There's something nostalgic and comforting about it. The chicken sandwich is legit, and the hot link sandwich has great flavor if you want to try something different. Dessert: Don't skip the fried apple pie--it's that old-school style McDonald's used to have before they went "healthy" with baked pies. Crispy, hot, and just the right amount of sweet. Drinks: Only downside--if you want a diet drink, they only carry Diet Coke. Griff's, please add Coke Zero or Diet Dr Pepper! That would make a great place even better. And of course, you can't go wrong with a milkshake to top it all off. Bottom line: If you're craving greasy comfort food, nothing beats a Griff's burger. It's fast food in its purest, most nostalgic form, and an Irving landmark that's still worth every visit

While I like savings and buying stuff at great prices. Please be wary of the things you buy…read more I was recommended Aldi and to go check it out. I did, it was ok. The place had a bunch of unknown brands for a bit cheaper than your regular well known brands. Atmosphere was good. Cleanliness was also good. The staff was also good. The reason for my 1 star is because of the quality of the products and the process that may have been used to preserve them. My son wanted some sourdough to make him a sandwich so I get a loaf of sourdough and other things. This was back in early October of 2018. So we take our groceries home eat some and he asks for me to mk him a sourdough sandwich, I try the first slice because he doesnt like the ends, and it tasted very acidic and rancid. The bag has a date of 10/24 so it must be like 2-3 weeks before it expires. So thats not the problem. I tell my son I will just mk him a sandwich from left over regular bread from kroger we bought the prior week from another store n he doesnt mind. My problem is why did this sourdough taste so acidic and rancid?!? Thats not how sourdough is supposed to taste like! This sparked my curiosity and I kept the sourdough to see how long before the bread went bad and moldy because I think this acidic taste is some sort of additive they are adding in Aldi's breads to make them have more shelf life but in this case it was over sprayed with this stuff and it hasnt molded yet! It is Jan 21st 2019 and I bought this bread in early October 2018. It has been 3 months and counting and this bread has not molded or gone bad! I will never be going back to aldi as this experience has left me very curious as to what the heck Aldi is spraying on their breads or if they even have a quality control process to check if the people they are getting their products are followings fda rules. Becareful when buy products from Aldi
