I've always had used crappy old ski boots and never had a problem. I bought my first pair of new ski boots here. I was sized and tried on a couple boots. Found some that felt good walking around the store. I was told there was no returning the boots but they can work with me to tweak the boots if there are any issues or discomfort. On the mountain after a single run the boots were cutting off the circulation to my toes, literally making them numb. Sturtevants told me to keep wearing them that they will probably break in. After 4 ski days my feet are still asleep a numb so I took them in to see if they could make some adjustments. As soon as the guy looks at my foot he says the problem is 100% my huge arches and the only way to fix the problem is to get some custom fit inserts for a couple hundred dollars from them. Spending 800$ and trusting them with no return policy it would've been great if this was mentioned beforehand. They made no tweaks or adjustments and I refuse to give them anymore money. I won't ever be buying boots here again. read more

These guys are my local ski shop and I really want to support them. To be fair, i have had positive experiences here and some not so positive. Biggest problem always seems to be not enough staff on the floor. More than once i have tried to buy something there only to leave because I couldn't find someone to help me. I bought skis and bindings here last spring 2024 and the experience was disappointing. After waiting for someone in the store to ask me if i needed help, I approached the two staff at the register who were chatting with one another asking "is there someone who can assist me with the skis?" A young women said yes with a rather dirty look. While she did "help" me, she couldn't tell anything about the skis i was interested in because "she was a racer and didn't like these type of skis." I should have ended the interaction there but was really excited to buy some new boards so i ignored her. The result was I wound up with skis that are too short for me and cant be returned (been used a few times now). It's my fault for not picking up the signals i was getting that this person wasn't interested in helping me -even when I asked about ski lengths for this particular ski. Long way around is that I will think twice before buying here again. read more

Wanna give these guys a huge shout out. Went in last week wanting to get my SB boots stretched out. Instead, the guy told me I needed new boot inserts with arch supports. I thought he might be up-selling me since they were $50 inserts, but dude really sounded like he knew what he was talking about like a mad boot scientist. He told me how they'd prevent my foot from spreading out and moving around. I went for it. Today, I just came off Summit having the best day of the season so far. I was extremely impressed by the knowledge and care that Alex put into finding what type of skiing and in what my price range I was looking in. My previous skis were from the middle of a 25 year ski career. They are rough. So rough. Alex took this into consideration and spent about an hour talking to me about where I came from, what kind of snow I liked, and what holds me back as a skier. From there he came up with options, stated the difference in these options, and let me pick the rest. We were about to make the huge mistake of buying our kids used gear on offer up but decided to stop in and look around. What a lifesaver! Turns out we did NOT know as much as we thought we did about fit and equipment even though my husband and I have been snowboarding and skiing for years. Matt literally spent almost 2 hours explaining boot fit and board differences to my 17 yr old snowboarder. And Bryan assisted my husband in getting set up with a ski package. He was also really great and so knowledgeable. The prices were also cheaper than we thought they would be. The skis we bought here were $70 cheaper than on Amazon! For our younger 2 they suggested their season rental program since they are still growing and new to snow sports. It just could not have been a better experience. You may want to save money by buying used on offer up but if you don't know all the ins and outs of the sport, don't do it! I know that my kids are going to have a great season because their gear is going to fit them correctly. Also with the rental program if they grow during the season I can go back in and have them re-fit. Very glad we stopped in. My family has been taking our skis to Sturtevant's for tune-ups for years, which got a lot easier after Sturtevant's relocated from Puyallup to their new spot near the Tacoma mall & next to Costco. The end-of-season sales also offer some fantastic prices on new skis, ski/binding packages, and boots, with most or all of the top brands in stock. They also carry tennis, golf, water skiing & wakeboarding equipment and clothing - so it's not just for skiers! read more

The young HS gal setting up my son's rental skis was barely paying attention to what she was doing. He got to Bachelor and wasted most of the day hiking back to the lodge because the skis wouldn't stay on. He's 6'3" and 175lbs. She had the bindings set at a 4. Plus, one of the bindings wasn't adjusted all the way up to the boot. When we returned the skis, the manager was very nice and understanding and made it right with us. I have become quite loyal to this store due to Ken who works in the back as a ski tech. He is one of the most knowledgable and honest people I have ever met who wanted me to buy skis from him. I never buy anything without copious research and told him so, thanked him and walked out of the store after spending about 20 minutes with him. Here's the thing that has made me loyal, he didn't lie about anything and his advice about what to purchase was perfect. I went back a week later and made the purchase! Prices are very steep. Brought in 2 snowboards to be tuned and p-Tex the scraps. There wasn't many scraps in either boards. One base shot on one of them. It was $135 to have both serviced. It took 3 days to get them back. When I went to get them the edges were the same. The p-Tex that they filled the holes with wasn't completely full so you can still feel the scrapes. The wax was good, but the nose and tail were still dry. You can do the same job at home. For this service the price was very high. read more
