Study's is awesome. There portions sizes are huge! I can never eat a whole plate. There customer service is good. First off, for you whiny little girls who cry that you don't get enough food, eat here. Order the "large" Stuff. Seriously. Stuffy's is fun. Crazy 50's decor and dressed up wait staff has a nostalgic feel to it. This is a fun place for breakfast. The egg-a-phobic hubby, our long-term visiting, reformed vegetarian friend Kris and I can go in and share a large "Stuff" and a large "Gob" and the three of us can walk out of there too full to move with two boxes of leftovers on less than $20 - tip included. "Stuff" - hash browns, onions, peppers, bacon and cheese. Comes with gravy (husband is gravy-phobic too). We used to get it on the side, but really, it's better without. A large comes on a pizza tray. "Gob" Elephant ear-esque free form donut deliciousness. Comes with cinnamon sugar or iced. I like the maple iced. A large order consists of two dinner plate sized wads of fried dough awesomeness. They also have giant cinnamon rolls (hehe, I had a typo and originally typed "trolls" hehe) that look good. Must resist ordering "Gob" to try. I have gotten eggs here and ordered lunch once. Lunch was "meh". Other breakfasty things were good. I want to say they have fake creamer on the table. Booo. The walls are an " I Spy" paradise with license plates, elvis, hot rods, and a menu filled with honestly chosen words made me feel excited to sit down. Portions are very large...food is good, service is good for the most part, but if you show up late in the morning it gets pretty busy and service slows down a bit, but thats to be expected. The last time i was there the food took very long, and the waitress had told us one of the cooks had dropped our ticket into the fryer, so we were kind of forgotten about....we ended up getting our entire breakfast for free, and we were in no hurry so it all worked out. Study's II has a classic diner atmosphere and experience. This is one of my grandfather's favorite places to go in the Kelso/Longview area. He got his standard, a chili burger, and was as satisfied as always. I tried the cinnamon French toast. It was amazing! I especially like how parts of the cinnamon had caramelized and provided a surprising crunch every few bites. I would definitely recommend this plate. Very disappointed. Initial impression was outdated and cluttered. There were plenty of open seats but the waitress rudely asked me to move the high chair we stuck in the corner (out of everyone's way/walk way) because she may need to stuff someone into a tiny table behind us. Waitress was scatter brained, couldn't answer basic questions and rushed even though it was only about half full. Food took FOREVER. Over an hour. We had a party of 4 adult and 1 child. My fries were so gross, nasty dark brown from old grease. I honestly thought they were sweet potato fries they were so discolored and when i asked she quickly responded "oh let me have them make some new ones" like she knew how bad they were before bringing them out. The replacement ones came with my check and were only a tad bit better. Old grease. All of our four meals were not great, bland, greasy, just a total disappointment after waiting an hour. We've gone here once or so every few years and never been disappointed. This most recent visit is a part of why I finally write a review. Although the place was packed, our hostess was able to seat our group of 6 quickly. They were quite expedient at getting our order and considering how busy they were, did a timely job of getting us food. We had a birthday in the group and they serenaded the birthday queen and gave her a complimentary humongous cinnamon roll that nearly filled a dinner plate and was probably 7 inches high. Our whole gang tore into that beast and we still had some to take home. We ordered the "Big Stuff", It was delicious, and easily fed all of us. We had left overs for the road. The wait staff was attentive and seemed to enjoy their jobs. I definitely want to make this a more frequent stop. I dine here often when my mother is in town. It's usually quite a wait to get your food. However, I feel that it's worth the wait. The servers are always prompt with your menus, drinks and also when it's time to order. The cuisine is a mouthwatering combination of a breakfast wonderland and traditional lunch and dinner meals. My husband and I were traveling through and stopped for lunch. I got the 1/4 lb lumber jack burger (basically a bacon cheese burger). The fries were good, not fake tasting or too soft or too crunchy. When the waitress, Karen, brought my food she noticed it wasn't how I ordered it and took it back before even placing it on the table. The food I would give 4 stars and the service too but the bathroom is outdated and seemed dirty, made it uncomfortable changing my baby in. We each drove about two hours. When we left we agreed this would always be our rendezvous destination. I was afraid to go there on the weekend, because the reviews were real good and i was afraid Sunday morning would be slammed! I got there at about 8:30 and was given my choice of almost anywhere by the pretty young gal that seats you. She really didn't try to steer me, so i felt comfortable picking a booth that i hoped would please my folks. The gals in their cute 50's (almost rollerskating) attire (with names embroidered on the breast) were happy to make change for me so I could get a paper out of the box outside. Orders here can be ridiculous in size. A cinnamon roll the size of a pug... etc. I ordered the large Biscuits and Gravy (Amen). And a side of bacon, And an orange juice. Even though I am a Pig, I left behind some of my biscuits and gravy. This is a lifetime first. The area of the four square attached biscuits is about equal to if you stacked two laptops atop one another. Literally. So, although they were good, i can only suppose that they would have been even better if I had had a smaller order (half as much at the most...), because man was never intended to get lost in the cosmos of that inner biscuit. I almost got too close to the point of "Singularity", where even light gets sucked in. I almost had an experience very much like the astronaut in the movie "2001--A SPACE etc. I swore I heard that iconic music, anyway... Here's what I say! Dress up nice and go in alone. Lay about 10 twenty's on the table (near the edge). Give the waitress your bedroom eyes and say, " "Sides of Bacon" -- and Keep 'em Comin'! " Biggest orange juice I was ever served in a restaurant. I could have washed my car with it. No complaints from the in-laws either. It was quiet enough for us to converse pleasantly. We were there visiting for a long time as it got busier. I figured a line was building outside, but what could I do. I was never hurried or made to feel uncomfortable. Worst customer service! We came in with a party of 15 which was apparently too much for them to handle. The hostess had to "ask" her manager if they could accommodate us even though the restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived. They reluctantly agreed to "let us" enjoy breakfast at their establishment. Once seated, we didn't didn't even get a hello from ANY wait staff for the first 20 mins. It has been about three months since our breakfast visit. Today for lunch. Reception and wait person were just fine. We had cod fish and chips. Side salad was good also. The fries were nasty as well as my serving of coleslaw. We got a fresh serving of fries but they were just as bad as the first, except they were hot. At least two things can cause deep fried food to be soggy. They are wrong temperature oil and/or worn out/unfiltered oil. Still puzzled as to why this place has repeat customers. We will not try a third visit. read more

Excellent food and service!! Was in town for business and asked where a great place to eat was and was directed to Stuffy's II. The food was amazing and tasted home cooked. As you walk in you see the 5lb cinnamon rolls available to buy and they are the biggest rolls I have ever seen. These are made on site as well as other amazing tasting homemade bread. I have been going to Stuffies for over 20 years. May 9th was my birthday and I chose my birthday dinner to be at Stuffies. I was not disappointed the food was great, prime-rib, and the service excellence. For my birthday they gave me the biggest cinnamon roll I've ever seen and sang a Happy tune. 1 Star is over generous!! As a trend of awful food and bad service is coming from this place I do have to add that the care for the food is apparently just as careless as everything else. Do to after eating there for the rest of the day all 3 of us had all the signs and symptoms of food not properly cared for. Over 1 day of what we all ate there coming out of both ends and constant misery!! Vomiting, diarrhea, missed school and work!! But they still got my money and I even had the poor feelings of tipping the person who waited on us out of pitty. Well I got the potty for doing it. That will teach me. It tasted a lot like concession stand food and I'm pretty sure its a restaurant's job to make it appear like the food you ordered hasn't been frozen for at least a year. I'm from PDX, but over the years I've stopped at Stuffy's II on my way to or from Seattle. The food is definitely "big food", so be prepared to take home left overs. But the massive portions aren't a cover for poor quality or preparation. While my experience is limited to breakfast and the gargantuan cinnamon rolls, the food has always met or exceeded my expectations. While the food is very good, it's the ambiance and the service that really sets Stuffy's apart and it's the service that makes the detour off of I-5 worth it. By ambiance I don't mean the 50s vibe complete with poodle skirts. That's cool and it's a nice touch, but the ambiance I'm talking about is the friendliness and professionalism of the servers. From the moment you walk in the door there's a warmth, charm and, well, neighborliness that makes you feel right at home. The friendliness doesn't end at the greeting. The serve staff is extremely professional, efficient and friendly. Maybe it's my timing or maybe there's a low turnover (happy employees?), but I tend to get the same few servers most of the time, so my experience may be limited. One example is a server named Theresa, a consummate professional. She's never too harried for a kind word or two and, despite the fact that I come in only once every few months, she always seems to remember a snippet or two from our last conversation. I was particularly impressed when she was waiting while I was in the throes of indecision she politely asked if she could wait on another customer. In each case she has always returned promptly (sadly, even having to do it more than once when I couldn't decide from the extensive menu). So, if you're hungry on that long, boring stretch of I-5 from PDX to Seattle, I can guarantee you it's worth the short diversion to get yourself over to Stuffy's II. read more
